Top 10 Observations From The WWE Flintstones Movie
The Flintstones & WWE: Stone Age SmackDown will be out on March 17th.
WWE is teaming with another classic cartoon to release a straight to video film. Last time, it was a movie with Scooby-Doo that was a fun time as listed in the Top 10 Observations from the Scooby-Doo! Wrestlemania Mystery Movie post.
Considering how well received and the fun that was had making that post, I decided to dedicate one breaking down the best WWE related moments from the Stone Age Smackdown.
1. CM Punk and Mark Henry steal the show
CM Punk is the lead villain in the movie with Mark Henry as his humorous sidekick. They have the best scenes in the movie by a mile. It’s a shame we never got to see heel CM Punk with Mark Henry as his enforcer. WWE Studios hates money or else we would have had a Phil Brooks + Mark Henry buddy cop film by now.
2. Vince McMahon has an unappealing raw fish bar
Shades of the Wrestlemania 31 card.
3. Nikki Bella is as annoying in animated form as she is in real life
It’s the cold voice of evil that is more significant when heard in the context of animation.
4. Daniel Bryan is adorable
Daniel Bryan only had one scene in the movie but got his catch phrase in. In true WWE fashion, Bryan had a B+ role at best but he was very charming. Seeing Bryan in animated form was a treat.
5. John Cena is very strong
This is the 2nd time he’s saved cartoon lives with his superhuman strength. Last time, he flew in to catch a giant boulder from crushing the cast of Scooby Doo. This time he caught a dinosaur in mid air before it could fall on Fred Flintstone and Mr. Slate.
6. Alphabetical order can be romantic
This IS real.
7. CM Punk kind of looks like Bad News Barrett
Seriously. This looks more like Wade Barrett than any of WWE’s video game portrayals of him.
8. Undertaker has tea parties
The prick won’t take his hat off in the honor of a tea party.
9. And wears pink shorts
Erick Rowan has nothing on cartoon ‘Taker.
10. And a sombrero
Bedrock era Undertaker attire is the only one that can make me care about his match vs. Bray Wyatt.
Overall, this wasn’t nearly as fun as the Scooby Doo movie. There’s just much less imagination used than the Scooby standard in a setting where you’d assume the prehistoric world would add more creativity. It’s still worth the watch if you love WWE, The Flintstones or marijuana.
