This Or That (6/17/2015)

    • This Or That (6/17/2015)

Everybody loves binary decisions, especially wrestling fans! In This Or That, we’ve forced ourselves to choose between two options that relate to wrestling.

Over four questions, @TimWelcomed, @JoeySplashwater and @TomBlargh will have to choose one of two options and give their reasoning on each of their choices. You can then vote on which one you’d choose, giving you the false impression that you’re somehow involved and we care about your opinion chance to join the conversation!

Before we start, here’s last week‘s results:

      Who do you side with?

      Hulk Hogan – 62%, CM Punk – 38%

      Who scares you most?

      Scott Steiner – 61%, Brock Lesnar – 39%

      Bigger scumbag?

      Vince Russo – 77%, Eric Bischoff – 23%

      Better McDonalds meal?

      20 piece McNuggets – 52%, Big Mac w/ fries – 48%

Which would you rather main event Summerslam: Seth Rollins vs. Brock Lesnar or Seth Rollins vs. Triple H?

      Rollins/Lesnar rematch or Rollins/H war.

      Tim:

I wouldn’t mind either. Both are set up pretty well but I think I lean more towards Lesnar/Rollins mostly because I can’t think of any other Lesnar match that is in the realm of possibility that I would want to see. It would be another fun “Lesnar beats on a smaller guy” match and would lead into the Triple H/Rollins match better. Rollins could work in some fun high spots with Lesnar. Lesnar hasn’t wrestled anyone during this run with that kind of agility. I think it’s definitely time to turn Rollins face even though he’s beeen such a great weasel.

      Seth Rollins vs. Brock Lesnar

      Joey:

I was very adamant about wanting Brock Lesnar vs. Seth Rollins at Summerslam since I’ll be attending the show but I’ve become accepting of Rollins vs. Triple H. Over the last year, I’ve enjoyed Hunter’s rare matches and I badly miss babyface Seth Rollins. Without The Authority, we’d get to see Rollins go back to his most exciting in ring style and the match against heel god Triple H should provide fun stuff.

      Seth Rollins vs. Triple H

      Tom:

I’m going to Summerslam live (and ended up paying more than I’m necessarily comfortable with for a ticke)t, so this is a pretty important question to me. Rollins vs. Brock was the match I was hoping for because it’s something fairly fresh and the spectacle of seeing Brock toss a smaller guy around would be pretty fantastic. Also, it’s the safe option – if we don’t get Rollins / Brock, then who DO we get facing Lesnar? Reigns? Cena again? The dream option would be Kevin Owens, though I’m not sure how feasible that necessarily is.

I’ve warmed up to the idea of Rollins / Triple H a little, though I have to assume Rollins is going to stay heel for the time being and Triple H will just play up the “NXT Dad” aspect of his personality a little more to be someone to bother cheering for. I’m sure they could have a fun match, but I’d much rather see Seth take on Brock, especially not knowing who the alternative would be.

More exciting PWG announcement: Akira Tozawa or Angélico?

      PWG.

      Tim:

Sorry, I’m sitting here wondering why the name “Jack Evans” isn’t involved here. That would make it too easy of an answer, I guess? Out of these two I am going with Akira Tozawa. He is one of my favorites in the business and has done some great work in Dragon Gate this year. He maybe better than he ever has been. Reseda always welcomes him with open arms. It’ll be something special to see him return.

      Akira Tozawa

      Joey:

Akira Tozawa has a stellar track record but I can’t wait for Angélico to appear in PWG. Seeing how he wrestles on Lucha Underground, he’s absolutely perfect for PWG. The best flippy wrestler in the world finally enters the best flippy promotion in the world. (I don’t mean this as an insult!) Regardless of if he’s wrestling in singles or teaming with Jack Evans, it’s finally getting wild in Reseda in 2015.

      Angélico

      Tom:

Honestly, both are cool but I’m much more excited by the influx of PROGRESS guys we’re getting – people who only remember Marty Scurll from British Boot Camp will be amazed by how far he’s come as both a wrestler and a personality, and Will Ospreay has already been part of some incredible matches but he’s still got an incredible amount of potential that could come out in a showcase like BOLA.

ANYWAY. Back to actually answering the question. I’ve still not seen enough Lucha Underground to know what to think of Angélico, but seeing Tozawa back in a PWG ring is really exciting, so it has to be him.

      Akira Tozawa

Better option to defeat Jay Briscoe for ROH title: Jay Lethal or Moose?

      ROH.

      Tim:

A large part of me really believes it’s too early for Moose even though I really want to see him get the title. I think he is an extraordinary talent and has grown so fast. The crazy part is thinking about how much better he’ll get if he is this good so early on. Jay Lethal has been one of the most entertaining characters in ROH lately and he deserves a run with the biggest title but something about that feels so safe. I want ROH to take a chance more than anything. Make the right move at the right time. Moose is perfect for this. Him winning would lead to a lot of new matches and would be incredibly refreshing for them.

      Moose

      Joey:

Jay Lethal has been one of the best performers over the last year but as TV Champion, he’s defended against just about everyone on the ROH roster in current character. What more is there to do if he becomes the ROH World Champ? Moose is a new act and has ridiculous potential. Is it too soon? Maybe, but ROH plays it painfully safe with the world title that I badly want to see them take a chance. What’s the worst that can happen? Fans turn on him? That will happen with anyone that holds that belt and you can argue it’s a good thing.

      Moose

      Tom:

I think Jay Lethal is incredible and I’d love to see him get the acknowledgement of a world title run, but it’d be just that – an acknowledgement. There’s no need for him to have the title and I don’t think it opens up the potential for any new opportunities in terms of matches or feuds.

Moose, on the other hand, would be unlike any other previous ROH champ there’s been, which I think would be pretty fantastic – it’d be ROH getting out of their comfort zone a little and actually running with something without pondering over it for months in advance. It’d be something new, and God knows something new is always nice in wrestling.

Better gift item: Flowers or candy?

      SHARI’S BERRIES. PRO FLOWERS.

      Tim:

Flowers are pretty…. PRETTY LAME. Hahaha. Just kidding around with you all. I must say though, candy is more fun. If you give someone flowers you are give them a chore that’ll end in them dying anyway. Candy dies but it tastes good while you’re killing it. Willy Wonka believed in candy and look how he turned out.

      Candy

      Joey:

First off, Shari’s Berries is absolutely garbage. I received a free gift card and ordered it for Mother’s Day. My mother and grandmother both hated it. I tried it and I hated it. Now, they won’t stop sending me emails regardless of how many times I unsubscribe or mark as spam. Bad food can ruin any gifting experience where flowers are most consistent. Don’t risk buying rotten candy.

      Flowers

      Tom:

Berries are NOT candy, Joey! They are FRUIT! FRUIT!!! GET IT RIGHT!!!!

Flowers are fine. They look very nice for a few days but then they start to wilt and get incredibly gross. Have you ever had to deal with vase water that’s gone stagnant? Completely disgusting. Candy is forever and candy is delicious. Candy is my pick.
