WCW Comic Book Reading Club: Issue Two, Page 19

rd  WCW: The Comic Book was published in the early 90s by Marvel Comics. Nobody in wrestling or comics paid it much attention, and after 12 issues, it was cancelled and lost to the ages. Until now.

On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, @tomblackett will post a new page of the WCW comic with his comments and we’ll read through it together. We’ll be there for each other, through the good (Vader! The Steiners! Sting! Cactus Jack!) and the (Johnny B.) Badd.

Tom: So that’s your El Gigante making shortcut of Lex Luger’s trenchcoat twins but WAIT, where the fuck are Big Josh, Flyin’ Brian and P.N. News? Did they leave already? Was the last page just fulfilling Marvel’s contractual obligation to have an appearance from P.N. News in every issue? This is the absolute worst.

Gigante steps into the ring to face Lex, and The Computerized Announcer of the ’90s, Terrence Taylor decides it’s time to come up with a cute nickname for his commentary partner:

 ‘Rossie’? SAUCE IT!

Back in the ring, Lex Luger ‘cheap shots’ an opponent while they’re directly facing him for the third time in the WCW comic:

Seriously, El Gigante is looking right at Lex and just lets him belt him over the head! What’s more, this is only a page after Luger did almost exactly the same thing with a steel chair to his knees! YOU GOTTA LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES, BROTHER.
