This Or That (9/9/2014)

Everybody loves binary decisions, especially wrestling fans! In This Or That, we’ve forced ourselves to choose between two options that relate to wrestling.

Over four questions, @TimWelcomed, @JoeySplashwater and @TomBlargh will have to choose one of two options and give their reasoning on each of their choices. You can then vote on which one you’d choose, giving you the false impression that you’re somehow involved and we care about your opinion chance to join the conversation!

Which wrestler are you more excited to see return from time off: Daniel Bryan or Dean Ambrose?

Daniel Bryan doesn’t need surgery. Dean Ambrose’s Walmart special movie is almost done filming. Who do you want back in your life more?

Tim:

Daniel Bryan is my favorite wrestler ever so  even though I love Ambrose and am ready for his feud with Rollins to get rolling again I can not honestly say I am more ready for him to come back. There are a lot of things I’m really interested in seeing how they play out when Bryan returns. Will the crowd still be there for him? Will WWE put him back in the main event? If the crowd is still there chanting for him and WWE doesn’t put him back in the main event scene will the audience force WWE’s hand again? Most of all, I can’t wait to see him back in the ring wrestling. Give me Bryan vs Lesnar, please. Somehow.

Daniel Bryan is the best wrestler in the world and my favorite wrestler of all time. Dean Ambrose is on a hot run but Bryan was on the hottest run and I think the fan support will still be there. The void without Daniel Bryan has been huge and I can’t wait to see him back on my television again.

Another factor is that Daniel Bryan is great regardless of WWE booking. Dean Ambrose needs to be in a purposeful story to be most effective as seen in some of his throwaway matches, namely vs. Alberto Del Rio and Dolph Ziggler. If WWE shits the bed with booking either of the two, Bryan can still give you good little matches.

Tom:

I don’t know how anyone could pick Dean Ambrose, to be honest. His absence sucks but his return is a sure thing whereas Bryan’s path to recovery seems to be a little trickier – it seems like he’ll be back, but there’s still a question mark so it’ll make his return that much more special, assuming it happens.

Which TNA free agent would you rather see return to WWE: Kurt Angle or Bully Ray?

Both rumored to have contracts end this month. Who do you want back in WWE?

Tim:

Kurt Angle is more likely and I’d be interested in seeing what would happen with him in WWE’s environment one last time. Bully Ray isn’t all that special to me and he definitely would lose whatever luster he has left because he won’t have as much free reign to be a total goob in WWE.

I could go without ever seeing either one back but a Kurt Angle return would probably be more fascinating. If Angle was younger and could do what he used to when he was originally with WWE I’d be all for it but maybe he could surprise me.

Bully Ray would not work in a WWE environment. His singles success in TNA has been due to being given complete creative control of his character and a main event slot. Will he get that opportunity in WWE? Absolutely not. The only purpose he can have in today’s WWE climate is a Dudley Boys reunion similar to how Goldust returned to team with Cody Rhodes. That’s his ceiling.

Kurt Angle can’t do what he used to but the guy is still a legend. People forget just how much he accomplished in such a short time in WWE. Even if just for one more match, a Kurt Angle return would provide a bigger moment both in impact (Haha get it?) and in fan reaction. Plus he can probably get himself together for one dream match vs. Daniel Bryan or even Rusev. Imagine the heat for Rusev beating a returning Angle at Wrestlemania.

KURT ANGLE ALL DAY, KURT ANGLE IN EVERY WAY. Yes, he is probably too fucked up to be able to do too much but his WWE run has some of my favourite moments and matches ever, so I’d really like to see him back with THE FED to end his career.

Cooler Young Bucks move: Meltzer Driver or More Bang For Your Buck?

We love The Young Bucks.

Tim:

The Meltzer Driver is mesmerizing and the name is one of the funniest things in wrestling right now but More Bang For Your buck will always have my heart. It’s beautiful and they have it down to a science.

Better Fall clothing item: Hoodie or scarf?

Tim:

Alright. I love hoodies just as much as the next person but I am a sucker for scarves. They’re fun. The fun is trying to pull off wearing a scarf without looking like an ass or feeling like Chris Jericho. Give me scarves any day. I’m just tired of hoodies because I have worn them so much over the course of my life. If this was FLY ASS JACKETS vs Scarves it’d be a harder pick for me.

YOU CAN’T MAKE ME CHOOSE! I LOVE THEM BOTH WAY TOO MUCH.

I have to go with the hoodie. Few things make me as happy as wearing a hoodie and headphones so I don’t have to see or hear anyone. I guess I don’t like people. Hoodie weather is the best. T-shirt weather is way too hot and jacket weather is way too cold. Hoodie weather is the medium we need and deserve.

Sometimes you have to go out of your way to express yourself in scarf form and that’s just no good. Your scarf fun should always be fresh and organic.

HOODIES FOR LIFE, FUCK SCARVES. Hoodies are versatile, scarves are almost entirely neck-focussed. On a super-chilly day, do I appreciate a scarf? Sure, I’m not a monster. Do I make it a staple of my autumn / winter wear though? No, I don’t. That’s what a hoodie is for.
