This Or That (1/20/2016)

    • This Or That (1/20/2016)

Everybody loves binary decisions, especially wrestling fans! In This Or That, we’ve forced ourselves to choose between two options that relate to wrestling.

Over four questions, @TimWelcomed, @JoeyOnEarth and @TomBlargh will have to choose one of two options and give their reasoning on each of their choices. You can then vote on which one you’d choose, giving you the false impression that you’re somehow involved and we care about your opinion chance to join the conversation!

More exciting WWE signing: AJ Styles or Shinsuke Nakamura?

      Sorry, New Japan.

      Joey:

Nakamura is great but the AJ Styles signing is definitely the more exciting news here. Styles has been one of the best wrestlers in North America for the past decade and has been deserving of this opportunity for just as long. I can’t wait to see how he performs in the WWE atmosphere and want to see him face off with some of the current top stars like Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens and Finn Balor. All of these wrestlers are at the top of their game and Styles could have a very special run with the company.

      AJ Styles

      Tim:

I enjoy Nakamura a great deal when he’s going all out in a match. I think he’ll try his best in the WWE system and that will be interesting to see. A lot of the magic behind Nakamura is how he is presented and I can only hope WWE understands that. I think AJ Styles is one of the best wrestlers around. I’ve always wanted to see him in WWE and they have a great roster full of fresh matches for him. While you’ll never see me buying AJ Styles merchandise I can not deny that he’s on a level all by himself right now when it comes to in-ring performances. He’s worked his way to the top of almost every promotion he’s stepped foot in. It’s going to be surreal to see him in a WWE ring.

      AJ Styles

      Tom:

I am very excited for old AJ to finally get a go in WWE, but he seems like a slightly safer bet in terms of getting a decent run and baby, I am addicted to unpredicatibility and sweet, sweet chaos. WWE still hasn’t shown they know how to use a non-English speaker in a prominent role, so Nakamura’s signing is much more exciting to me – if there’s anyone who can overcome a language barrier through sheer charisma, it’s Nakamura but I still think it’ll be an uphill battle. DO YOUR BEST SHINSUKE MATE, INVEST IN SOME MAD OLD OUTFITS AND KEEP MAKING THOSE FACES.

Who would you rather see Roman Reigns face at Wrestlemania 32: Triple H or Brock Lesnar?

      Who you got?

      Joey:

I am going back and forth with this. On the surface, I’d rather see Roman Reigns face Brock Lesnar if it means Triple H will face The Rock but I will attempt to answer the question without factoring in other matches. I’ll take Triple H vs. Roman Reigns.

Both matches would be predictable with Reigns winning but I’d rather not see Brock take a loss here. The attraction of Lesnar coming in and destroying everyone is still lovely and a loss to Reigns may end that. I also have faith in Triple H having a good match against Reigns despite his hit or miss Wrestlemania history.

      Triple H

      Tim:

I can think of five or six matches I’d rather see Lesnar have than one with Reigns. I think those two did the best match they could last year and I am not interested in seeing it again. I’d rather see Lesnar in a good match where he gets a win than Triple H against someone other than Reigns that night. There’s probably a better story with Triple H and Reigns at this point anyway despite all of the inconsistencies there.

      Triple H

      Tom:

Another Reigns / Lesnar match doesn’t sound like the worst thing in the world (that’d be a Wyatt / Lesnar match, ho ho ho), but it isn’t something I’m in a hurry to see. I’ve come to enjoy the annual Triple H ‘Mania match so I’d much rather see Reigns tussle with him, even though I don’t have as much confidence in Roman having as good a Wrestlemania match with old Haitch as Daniel Bryan did because… well, because Daniel Bryan is Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns is Roman Reigns. Anyway, never mind that, bring on Hunter Hearst Helmsley in a Wrestlemania main event in 2016.

Better Kevin Owens Wrestlemania dream match: Brock Lesnar or Sami Zayn?

      Who you got? Part 2.

      Joey

The potential of a Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn Wrestlemania match would be incredible for anyone that has followed their careers but there’s just something amazing about the unknown. We know how great Zayn vs. Owens is but the mystery of how Brock Lesnar vs. Owens would go down sets up a tremendous “dream match.” This would also show Owens is a major superstar in WWE and in the upper echelon of talents with such a big Wrestlemania match. After seeing them interact on Monday, I desperately want this match and I want it at WM 32.

      Brock Lesnar

      Tim:

I would be in awe of a Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens match at a WrestleMania but in a feud that could and should last throughout the careers of both men it seems a little too soon for that. Brock Lesnar will not be around forever. So much of his time has been taken up wrestling matches I didn’t really care that much for. Brock Lesnar taking on a loud-mouthed newcomer with something to prove would be great on a few levels. Brock can be positioned to be cheered for here. Lesnar could get a win. Owens would be seen as a bigger deal afterwards even with a loss if he stood toe-to-toe with “The Beast Incarnate” at Wrestlemania. This match could possibly steal the show. Sami Zayn can wait.

      Brock Lesnar

      Tom:

I sincerely hope we get Lesnar/Owens at some point and I do believe it’ll happen, but a Zayn/Owens match with a good build and sufficient time to be as special as it should be would be absolutely amazing and surreal to get at this Wrestlemania. It’d also be the best launching pad possible for old Sami, who really deserves to be on the main roster and presented as a big deal as soon as possible.

Also, the company is aching for a new main event level face who’s actually likeable and sympathetic, as opposed to being a bit of an asshole, and Zayn is about as likeable as it gets. What’s more, Owens would get a chance to demonstrate what an absolute monster he can be and that’s always a treat.

Better tool for coloring: Crayons or pencils?

The official Wrestling On Earth ROH Coloring Book Contest will be here soon.

      Art Materials

      Joey:

Coloring pencils are my favorite. I enjoy the ability to color or just shade with the pencil. You can also easily sharpen it. I have a few favorite colors that I like to use a lot. As a child, my “midnight blue” and “brick red” crayons go down due to heavy use and I’d be sad with how quickly they were done. The pencils last longer and make it less complicated. The smell of crayons also creeps me out. It’s weird. Why do they have an odd scent? Give me the pencils.

      Pencils

      Tim:

If I’m working in a coloring book I prefer crayons. They show up better on those types of pages with less force and it just gives me a nostalgic vibe I adore. If I am coloring elsewhere and had to pick between the two I would definitely choose colored pencils. I find there are a lot of fun techniques to be used with them and they’re just easier to play around with. The smell of crayons are questionable though. I’ll give Joey that. I also hate their texture.

      Crayons

      Tom:

Anyone who uses pencils lacks confidence in their colouring abilities and that’s a god damn shoot. Crayons are STURDY and they are damn near permanent. There’s no real shading or palette mixing, you just scrawl it on the paper and hope for the best. Crayons are LIFE.
