WCW Comic Book Reading Club: Issue Two, Page 20

    • WCW Comic Book Reading Club: Issue Two, Page 20

WCW: The Comic Book was published in the early 90s by Marvel Comics. Nobody in wrestling or comics paid it much attention, and after 12 issues, it was cancelled and lost to the ages. Until now.

On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, @tomblackett will post a new page of the WCW comic with his comments and we’ll read through it together. We’ll be there for each other, through the good (Vader! The Steiners! Sting! Cactus Jack!) and the (Johnny B.) Badd.

WCW: The Comic (Issue Two, Page 20)

WCW: The Comic is probably the property of Marvel Comics / WWE, though I’m not entirely sure. This website makes no claims to own it; all panels and images are posted in the spirit of fair use and are the property of their respective owners and creators.

Tom: THIS PAGE IS INCREDIBLE. CM Punk’s ‘pipe bombs’ might as well be firecrackers compared to Lex Luger’s:

And he’s right! Everything he’s saying is true! In the span of 20 pages, he’s killed every single contender for his title, one after another. In short, he’s become the ultimate monster heel, which makes what follows even more surprising:

HAHAHA WHAT. HE’S LEAVING?!?! FOR ‘GREENER PASTURES’, NO LESS?! It’s so, SO amazing.

Now, obviously they couldn’t keep using Lex, given he’d already been in the WWF for a couple of months by the time this comic was published. My assumption is that they’d already finished the writing and art for the first couple of issues by the time they found out Lex was leaving, and since LITERALLY NO-ONE CARED, they just decided to publish them as is and write out Luger the best they could.

Really though, is having him bury the entire company the only way to do it? He never even dropped the belt to anybody! Imagine if this happened in real life. Forget the Montreal Screwjob, the Lex Luger Incident would be the event that everyone would still be talking about. Just perfect.
