      Let the second round begin!

Wrestling On Earth Fantasy Draft: Round Two

      Brad’s pick: GEDO (non-wrestler)

      Brad:

While not as well kown as Paul Heyman or Vince McMahon, since 2011 Gedo (whose real name is Keiji Takayama) has been involved in the best booking in pro wrestling, making stars out of people such as Kazuchicka Okada, Hiroshi Tanahashi & Prince Devitt to name just a few. He understands that the focus of pro wrestling should be about having strong polar opposites on the baby face and heel side.

In the body of matches he’s put together, it has not just been the top match being great, but every match down the card that is great as well. He has an ability to make you want things for stars, such as Okada winning the belt back and Devitt going for the title. Daniel Bryan and my other picks as the top stars in the company lead well to the booking style of Takayama.

      Tom’s pick: BROCK LESNAR

      Tom:

Again, it almost feels unnecessary to explain Brock Lesnar. Yes, his matches with Triple H were underwhelming, but it’s difficult to blame that on Brock. I think every appearance he’s made has left me sort of giddy with excitement. Whether he’s tossing an office chair at The Miz

      …or killing Heath Slater

…there’s something irresistible about the sheer violence that Brock brings.

I’m hoping his ongoing feud with CM Punk delivers in the same way that his match with John Cena at Extreme Rules 2012 did. However, even if it doesn’t, I think just the thrill of having Brock show up every so often to hurl furniture and dudes in terrible outfits around would be enough to justify having him on my roster.

      Tim’s pick: SAMI ZAYN

      Tim:

I know this might be a strange pick for the second round considering he’s just now in NXT but I wanted to make sure I signed this extraordinary talent. His little time in NXT has proven he’s not just great at one gimmick.

Sami Zayn guy can bring the goods and I believe is one of the easiest to make a star. He’s got the talk. He’s definitely got the in-ring part down. He’s a great investment for my promotion… and yes, top-rope brainbustaaaaaaahs are allowed and masks are optional.

      typicalROHfan’s pick: DEAN AMBROSE

      typicalROHfan:

Everyone is taking risks this round. Tom drafted a wrestler who will make sporadic appearances, Tim drafted a wrestler who is currently a developmental prospect and Brad……. drafted a Japanese booker. I decided to make a risky pick as well but a very calculated one. (Bonus note: If you’re drafting in fantasy football this month, always make sure your early risks are researched ones. And don’t pick Aaron Hernandez!)

Very young and still a relative prospect, Dean Ambrose is the closest thing to a “can’t miss prospect.” A feud between Ambrose and Jeff Hardy would be very compelling and the main program I would build my promotion around. Much like Hardy, Ambrose is also very versatile and can make any style work which makes it much easier to draft my future picks around him.

And OBVIOUSLY, I will sell 8×10’s with him making the peace sign. Shades of the draft card shown above.
