WCW Comic Book Reading Club: Issue One, Page 21
WCW: The Comic Book was published in the early 90s by Marvel Comics. Nobody in wrestling or comics paid it much attention, and after 12 issues, it was cancelled and lost to the ages. Until now.
On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, @tomblackett will post a new page of the WCW comic with his comments and we’ll read through it together. We’ll be there for each other, through the good (Vader! The Steiners! Sting! Cactus Jack!) and the (Johnny B.) Badd.
WCW: The Comic (Issue One, Page 21)
WCW: The Comic is probably the property of Marvel Comics / WWE, though I’m not entirely sure. This website makes no claims to own it; all panels and images are posted in the spirit of fair use and are the property of their respective owners and creators.
Tom: Oh no!
Not the trophy!
THAT WAS HAND-CRAFTED BY ARTISANS YOU SON OF A BITCH.
Paul E. Dangerously’s comment that Ron Simmons should have known better is pretty accurate though. Like, for one thing, he’s completely correct in his assertion that Lex Luger told him he was gonna do this. Just look at this from page 7:
Since Ron’s a guy who prides himself on doing things that he tells people he’s going to do, he should have taken Lex more seriously and been prepared for a crippling. You’ve only got yourself to blame, Ron!
Having said that, what follows is possibly a bit much:
Seriously, there’s absolutely no chance his neck isn’t broken from having it driven into a metal trophy. He didn’t even use his hands to protect himself!
Even with Ron almost certainly paraplegic though, one act of horrific villainy isn’t enough for Lex, as he proceeds to tear up the check to Ron’s charity of choice:
This is just petty more than anything, since they can just write another check. Maybe Lex doesn’t understand how checks work? OR MAYBE HE’S JUST TOO EVIL TO CARE.
Final page of issue one coming on Friday. Get ready!
