Wrestling On Earth’s ROH Coloring Book Competition: Round 4 – Dalton Castle

If there’s three things the Wrestling On Earth crew loves, it’s wrestling, coloring and spirited competition, so LET THE GAMES BEGIN.

Tim (@TimWelcomed), Joey (@JoeyOnEarth), Tom (@TomBlargh) and Shelly (@ShellyDeathlock) all chose a page from the ROH Coloring Book (created by the wonderful @punkrockbgmouth) to color, making for four pages in total. There was some arguing about what kind of tools and materials we were allowed to use, but in the end, we decided that everyone could choose between pencils or crayons (though Tom ended up being the only one to choose crayons and he’s pretty salty about it, but whatever).

We featured a new page colored by each participant every day – this is the fourth and final day, so you can see the previous efforts here:

    • Round 1: Kevin Kelly and Steve Corino
    • Round 2: The Young Bucks
    • Round 3: The Briscoes

LET’S GET COLORING (AND LOOK, YOU CAN ALSO VOTE ON WHO YOU THINK SHOULD BE THE WINNER AT THE END!)

    Round 4: Dalton Castle

Cheeseburger vs. “Brutal” Bob Evans in a pre-show YouTube match

    Joey:

I’ve found a lot of people talking about this being the match of the night on twitter and I’ve rolled my eyes but then I think about it. If Final Battle were still in New York, I probably would buy a ticket just to see Cheeseburger beat the shit out of Bob Evans. I love Cheeseburger and he is the main reason I may consider staying up for Wrestle Kingdom.

    Interest Level: 10/10
    Prediction: Cheeseburger wins.

    Tim:

It’s kind of wild but I finds this to be one of the best built-up matches on the card. I feel like it has been going on forever. I enjoy Cheeseburger a good bit and I’m actually looking forward to what I hope is these guys… FINAL BATTLE.

    Interest Level: 6/10
    Prediction: Cheeseburger wins.

    Tom:

I haven’t watched any ROH for over a year and, as a result, I feel extremely well-equipped to preview this sensational show.

I like Cheeseburger a lot. What’s he up to these days? Is he having fun? When did he and Brutal Bob have a falling out? Is this show seriously $34.99?

    Interest Level: 7/10
Prediction: Cheeseburger has a great time and everyone is happy.

Young Bucks vs. All Night Xpress vs. The Briscoes in a #1 contenders match for the tag titles

    Joey:

You know ROH is NJPW’s NXT when there’s a multi-team tag match on each PPV. The action should be fine but I’ve become desensitized to these 3-4 team matches. It’s kind of like the six-man tag matches on Raw. Enough is enough. That being said, it will be fun to see the Young Bucks do battle with ANX again. Hopefully there’s a dual duel.

    Interest Level: 7/10
    Prediction: Young Bucks win.

    Tim:

I still enjoy The Young Bucks but I find myself growing tired of their shtick. This is the second time I’ve gone through this with them but they managed to draw me back in. I get that it’s a money-maker so whatever but I’d love to see them evolve a bit more at some point. ROH is pretty boring to me nowadays but I do keep up with it enough and watch their big shows. This should be a fun match but I don’t really care too much about it outside of that. I should be way more excited that ANX is back together than I am. The Briscoes and Young Bucks have developed a great chemistry and that should be enough to pull this match through.

    Interest Level: 5/10
    Prediction: Young Bucks win.

    Tom:

So is Jay Briscoe no longer a singles competitor? Okay. Cool. I wonder if things are awkward between Rhett Titus and Kenny King or if they’re still great mates. I would hope that the Young Bucks win this,

ROH All Star Extravaganza VII PPV Preview and Predictions

Ring of Honor of Honor is on PPV.

Giving their thoughts and predictions on what to expect from the PPV are members of the site @JoeyOnEarth and @BradWardFight.

    ROH

Dalton Castle vs. Silas Young (If Dalton wins, Silas becomes one of the boys. If Silas wins, he gets possession of Dalton’s boys.)

    Joey:

Silas Young’s character is one of the lamest in wrestling today so having him become one of “The Boys” would be a positive result. I love Dalton Castle but the matches between these two so far have been extremely basic.

    Interest Level: 5/10
    Prediction: Dalton Castle wins.

    Brad:

While this feud has not lit the world on fire by any means, I have enjoyed Dalton Castle’s work rate quite a bit. I gotta go with Silas Young here as I think the potential vignettes of the boys becoming men wearing plaid, chopping wood and growing facial hair. I do think the feud will continue.

    Interest Level: 7/10
    Prediction: Silas Young

Cedric Alexander vs. Moose in a No DQ Match

    Joey:

I have enjoyed the matches between these two aside from the endings and it was among my favorites on the last PPV. The no DQ stipulation should give the match a conclusion this time with Moose winning. Cedric Alexander has been great since turning heel but you can’t have big Moose lose here.

    Interest Level: 8/10
    Prediction: MOOSE. MOOSE. MOOSE.

    Brad:

While it would meltz my heart if Cedric was to get the win and ascend to the top of ROH, I think there is too much money there with Moose. The in ring of this should be pretty damn stellar overall, but hope it is not hurt by Stokley, Veda and Prince Nana. Cedric while an outstanding competitor is just another step on the road to the top of ROH by Moose Moose Moose. *Tugboat Taunt*

    Interest Level: 8/10
    Prediction: Moose wins.

Wednesday Night Wars: August 5, 2015

There’s a lot of wrestling on Wednesday nights.

Every week, @JoeySplashwater will attempt to watch as much of the wrestling programs on Wednesday night as he can. There will be a short recap of each program followed by the pick for Match of the Night, Performer of the Night and who won the Wednesday Night Wars?

    NXT

    NXT

Basic show. Same as usual. I wish they would get better jobbers if every episode is going to be enhancement matches galore. I miss CJ Parker. Charlotte vs. Bayley was disappointing considering the reputations of both but the road to TakeOver: Brooklyn for Bayley is a great story. Samoa Joe vs. Rhyno was just there.

Kevin Owens and Finn Balor delivered promos to set up a Ladder Match at TakeOver which has given the show a great feel going into it. The announcement of Jushin Liger facing Tyler Breeze was made and there was a nice video. TakeOver: Brooklyn looks very good but the TV show was lackluster. Same old story.

    NXT

    NXT

As always, NXT was full of mostly enhancement matches and filler. The highlight of the show was the tag team of Chad Gable and Jason Jordan getting another win. This may be the first “NXT made” male act that takes off. Gable stands out and looks impressive in these short matches – a feat very rare for most on the roster.

I like the tag team of Blake and Murphy with Alexa Bliss as their manager. She has raised her value without harming the wrestlers she’s managing which is the key to any person in that spot. The tag match main event itself was adequate. Charlotte vs. Dana Brooke was weak. Kevin Owens destroying Martin Stone was a good time as always. Not a noteworthy show but nothing too bad.

Every week, @JoeySplashwater will attempt to watch as much of the wrestling programs on Wednesday night as he can. There will be a short recap of each program followed by the pick for Match of the Night, Performer of the Night and who won the Wednesday Night Wars?

    NXT

    NXT

Full Sail somehow found a way to become more obnoxious with booing all mentions of the NXT TakeOver show because it’s a part of Summerslam weekend in New York as well as going over the top creating Cena-like “Let’s Go Eva/Eva Sucks” chants for Eva Marie. It’s one thing if those chants happen naturally or was dictated by the show but they obviously planned it out. The Impact Zone 2.0 has been going overboard for a while but this recent set of tapings may be when most realize it.

The show was pretty lackluster at best with the only noteworthy moments coming from a Finn Balor and Kevin Owens promo. Bayley had a solid return as well and set up her road to the Women’s Title. The rest of the show was pretty basic and it’s becoming more and more difficult to watch in full.

ROH Death Before Dishonor XIII IPPV Preview and Predictions

    Will Ferrara vs. Silas Young

    Joey:

The Last Real Mustache vs. Mr. Whippersnapper.

Silas Young has been very lackluster since returning and I can’t see that changing here. I enjoy Will Ferrara but he’s usually in those 4 man matches that are always a good time so hard to get excited about this. I’d rather see “Mr. Retweet” Donovan Dijak vs. Brock Watanabe on the PPV.

    Interest Level: 2/10
    Prediction: Will Ferrara wins.

    TJ:

I am in tears (yea, I’m not afraid to say it!) at the mere thought of this beautiful storyline. Silas Young, noted fake nephew of Stan Hansen and writer of awful things on Facebook, represents a generation of people who look down at “Millenials” for using their smart phones or something. Will Ferrara represents a generation that works for pennies because the previous generations encouraged them to follow their dreams, no matter what the cost. This is “gritty” and “mature” storytelling at its finest. Who will be victorious in this battle of the generations???

    Interest Level: 0/10
    Prediction: Zzzzzz

    Adam Cole vs. Dalton Castle

    Joey:

If I’m free of responsibilities by show time, I will likely order the PPV and this match was tipping point in deciding it. Dalton Castle is one of the more cool new acts in ROH and Adam Cole is probably the most valuable wrestler in the company. The match should be a perfect mix of good stuff.

    Interest Level: 8/10
    Prediction: Adam Cole wins.

    TJ:

This is a battle of the strong style warriors of Ring of Honor. This will be a straight-up war with loads of roaring elbows and backdrop drivers and bumps on your head and streamers and fighting spirit. It is nice that Ring of Honor occasionally just gets out of the way and lets professional WRESTLERS do some WRESTLING for a change.

    Interest Level: 7/10
    Prediction: Adam Cole, bay bay.
