This Or That: Tag Teams Edition (7/15/2014)

Everybody loves binary decisions, especially wrestling fans! In This Or That, we’ve forced ourselves to choose between two options that relate to wrestling.

Over four questions, @TimWelcomed, @JoeySplashwater and @TomBlargh will have to choose one of two options and give their reasoning on each of their choices. You can then vote on which one you’d choose, giving you the false impression that you’re somehow involved and we care about your opinion chance to join the conversation!

Before we start, here’s last week‘s results:

    More annoying chant?

    WHAT? – 64%, CM Punk – 36%

    Cooler faction?

    Bullet Club – 51%, NWO – 49%

    Better promotion?

    CHIKARA – 81%, CZW – 19%

    What should LeBron James do?

Go back to Cleveland– 81%, Stay in Miami – 19%

Last week’s This Or That broke a record for most votes collected in a week. Thank you and keep voting!

Better bad-ass tag team: The Road Warriors or The Steiner Brothers?

Which bad-ass tag team do you prefer?

    roadwarriors-steiners

    Tim:

The Road Warriors had a good look and bad-ass personas at the time but in-ring I didn’t care too much and still don’t. I love Steiner Brothers matches and will say they’re higher up in my imaginary “favorite tag-teams of all time” list. Scott Steiner was always a fun watch and how could you not like a wrestler named The Dog-Faced Gremlin?! That’s way better than “Hawk” or “Animal.”

    The Steiner Brothers

    Joey:

The Steiner Brothers are my favorite ’90s tag team and I’m basically using this question to showcase my love for them. That’s what happens when you purchase a domain name, kids! The Steiners had everything I loved about wrestling. From brawling with intensity to flashy moves from the top rope, Rick and Scott gave us both the appeal of intense brawls and impressive wrestling bouts.

I enjoyed The Road Warriors/LOD enough but they never really connected with me probably due to the fact that I missed their prime and I don’t believe you can truly understand how good a wrestler was unless you live through it. I do vividly remember marking out when The Steiners beat the NWO for the tag team titles at Souled Out 1997. One of my favorite things about the WWE Network (when it actually works for me) is reliving old Steiners tag matches. Best tag team of all time!

    The Steiners

    Tom:

I missed out on the peak years of Los Bros Steiner so I don’t really have an awful lot of affection for them, although watching young Scott in his early years and seeing if you can spot any Big Poppa Pumpisms is pretty good fun. Oh, and I enjoyed seeing the Steiners get hit with trays of snacks by Arn Anderson and Bobby Eaton dressed as concession sellers in the WCW Comic (RIP WCW Comic Book Reading Club, you were too much work and not consistently funny enough).

I wasn’t a huge Road Warriors/Legion of Doom guy either, but I did like the shoulder pads, facepaint and how creative they were with using their hairstyles to hide their bald patches.

    The Road Warriors

4 on 4 Fans: Miss_Dani_Baby, SniperWolfVA, Fucktronics, JeremyExiled

Welcome to this week’s edition of Four on Four.  As always, we’ve chosen four of the most entertaining and intelligent wrestling fans on Twitter and decided to peer into their minds four questions at a time. Now let’s meet the panel:

Miss_Dani_Baby: She hates ketchup and might be considered a college graduate.
    Follow her on Twitter.

SniperWolfVA: Also known as The Butter Bandit, he lives off of only raisins and butter.
    Follow him on Twitter.

Fucktronics: He likes to get German Suplexed onto beds and has nice scarfs.
    Follow him on Twitter.

JeremyExiled: He plays the guitar. He does not play the trombone. Once shaved off a guy’s eyebrow.
    Follow him on Twitter.

    1. WWE has the Inferno match, where the ring is surrounded by fire. If you could book a match with the same general gimmick, who would be in the match and what would surround the ring?

    Miss_Dani_Baby:

I’m going to go with The Miz vs. Zack Ryder with the ring surrounded by faeces. Hell, maybe a ring surrounded by flaming paper bags of feces! Not only would it be fitting of both their gimmicks, but I would genuinely enjoy watching the match hoping that one or both would roll in the shit.

    SniperWolfVA:

Ghosts. Undertaker vs. Bray Wyatt in an Inghosto Match. Every time someone hits the mat a ghost of a dead wrestler will appear on the apron and be able to attack them if they get close. If the ghost of Benoit comes out, after the 63rd slam, it automatically wins the match and can challenge for the belt at Halloween Havoc 2015.

    Fucktronics:

It would be Layla El vs. Me and the ring would be surrounded by my penis and fried chicken. Don’t even try to tell me that that isn’t exactly what all of you would have said. I think that no matter who wins, I would totally win forever for life always and so I’d never have to have another match or day of living or not living. Time would stop and just kinda go away like Chikara (RIP (FOR NOW (CHIKARA FOR LIFE))) and I wouldn’t even give a half of a roller coaster about it. Thank you, have a blessed day. Goodnight.

    JeremyExiled:

First off, let me say this. If something is surrounding a ring and it isn’t Shetland Ponies, we’ve already been lead so astray that I doubt we can make our collective ways back to salvation. That being said, give me Randy Savage vs. Jim “Das Anvil” Neidhart in a Shetland Pony-jack match. The set-up is that Savage is looking to sell the ponies to Neidhart, but a fight has broken out due to payment disagreements. Winner cooks the po…just kidding. Both winner and loser ride the ponies into the crowd – fade to black. Continue reading →
