    This Or That (6/17/2015)

Everybody loves binary decisions, especially wrestling fans! In This Or That, we’ve forced ourselves to choose between two options that relate to wrestling.

Over four questions, @TimWelcomed, @JoeySplashwater and @TomBlargh will have to choose one of two options and give their reasoning on each of their choices. You can then vote on which one you’d choose, giving you the false impression that you’re somehow involved and we care about your opinion chance to join the conversation!

Before we start, here’s last week‘s results:

    Who do you side with?

    Hulk Hogan – 62%, CM Punk – 38%

    Who scares you most?

    Scott Steiner – 61%, Brock Lesnar – 39%

    Bigger scumbag?

    Vince Russo – 77%, Eric Bischoff – 23%

    Better McDonalds meal?

    20 piece McNuggets – 52%, Big Mac w/ fries – 48%

Which would you rather main event Summerslam: Seth Rollins vs. Brock Lesnar or Seth Rollins vs. Triple H?

    Rollins/Lesnar rematch or Rollins/H war.

    rollins

    Tim:

I wouldn’t mind either. Both are set up pretty well but I think I lean more towards Lesnar/Rollins mostly because I can’t think of any other Lesnar match that is in the realm of possibility that I would want to see. It would be another fun “Lesnar beats on a smaller guy” match and would lead into the Triple H/Rollins match better. Rollins could work in some fun high spots with Lesnar. Lesnar hasn’t wrestled anyone during this run with that kind of agility. I think it’s definitely time to turn Rollins face even though he’s beeen such a great weasel.

    Seth Rollins vs. Brock Lesnar

    Joey:

I was very adamant about wanting Brock Lesnar vs. Seth Rollins at Summerslam since I’ll be attending the show but I’ve become accepting of Rollins vs. Triple H. Over the last year, I’ve enjoyed Hunter’s rare matches and I badly miss babyface Seth Rollins. Without The Authority, we’d get to see Rollins go back to his most exciting in ring style and the match against heel god Triple H should provide fun stuff.

    Seth Rollins vs. Triple H

    Tom:

I’m going to Summerslam live (and ended up paying more than I’m necessarily comfortable with for a ticke)t, so this is a pretty important question to me. Rollins vs. Brock was the match I was hoping for because it’s something fairly fresh and the spectacle of seeing Brock toss a smaller guy around would be pretty fantastic. Also, it’s the safe option – if we don’t get Rollins / Brock, then who DO we get facing Lesnar? Reigns? Cena again? The dream option would be Kevin Owens, though I’m not sure how feasible that necessarily is.

I’ve warmed up to the idea of Rollins / Triple H a little, though I have to assume Rollins is going to stay heel for the time being and Triple H will just play up the “NXT Dad” aspect of his personality a little more to be someone to bother cheering for. I’m sure they could have a fun match, but I’d much rather see Seth take on Brock, especially not knowing who the alternative would be.

ROH Best in the World 2015 Preview and Predictions

    Friday PPV? Huh.

Giving thoughts and predictions on what to expect from the PPV is @JoeySplashwater. The T-Boyz are E3’ing and Joey wanted to rush this post. DEAL WITH IT.

    Dalton Castle vs. Silas Young

    Joey:

Dalton Castle is one of the best new additions for ROH because he’s weird as fuck and very original. Silas Young is talented but kind of basic. I don’t know what to expect here aside from the obvious story of flamboyant Dalton vs. “man’s man” Silas. You’ll have to like that style of comedy in wrestling to fully enjoy this one.

    Interest Level: 4/10
    Prediction: Dalton Castle wins.

War Machine vs. Cedric Alexander and Caprice Coleman

    Joey:

First rant of the post – Why is Cedric Alexander in this match? Yes, I know it’s likely to turn on his former partner Caprice Coleman and become fully established as a heel. That would make sense if Alexander didn’t just end Moose’s undefeated streak on TV via villainous tactics.

It should have been a big moment that leads to him having an important singles match on this show but instead he’s taking a step back in heel moments. Don’t get me wrong. This match could be awesome if it were just the two teams but it’s going to be focused on a very predictable swerve.

    Interest Level: 6/10
    Prediction: War Machine wins.

ROH Final Battle 2014 Preview and Predictions

ROH Final Battle in NYC. It’s probably going to snow that night.

Giving their thoughts and predictions on what to expect from the PPV are members of the site @JoeySplashwater, @TimWelcomed and @TomBlargh.

    ROH Final Battle

Mark Briscoe vs. Hanson vs. Jimmy Jacobs vs. Caprice Coleman

    Joey:

Typical fun match to get guys on the show. These happen frequently in ROH and often delivers as a nice opener. Hanson has been wonderful to watch this year and I think he has to get the victory here.

    Interest Level: 6/10
    Prediction: Hanson wins.

    Tim:

This should be a nice opener. Don’t have much to say about it besides I think Hanson should win this one. He’s been a delight. Also, Jimmy Jacobs is a personal favorite of mine.

    Interest Level: 5/10
    Prediction: Hanson wins

    Tom:

Alright, Final Battle! Despite being an NYC resident, I’m not going to the show. The venue’s weirdly awkward to get to, it seems badly set-up in terms of seating and the ticket pricing is just wacky (I’m not paying $20 to stand up to watch wrestling, NO CHANCE). Man, I miss Hammerstein.

However, even in spite my whining, I’ll still likely order it because the last one was a good laugh (and my ROH PPV party pictures are testament to that):

Great times. ANYWAY, THIS MATCH. ROH fourways are generally an enjoyable mess, and I’m sure this one will continue that trend.

    Interest Level: 6/10
    Prediction: Hanson wins.

Bullet Point Reviews: ROH Champions vs. All Stars 2014

We watch wrestling shows. We will talk about wrestling shows.

New feature! We will start talking about some of the random wrestling shows we watch with quick thoughts in the form of bullet points.

@JoeySplashwater is starting off the feature that will be a revolving door of usual WOE members. I’m going to give my review of ROH Champions vs. All Stars. Going forward, I look to provide more reviews for ROH, PWG, the occasional Evolve show and other random independent wrestling shows I happen to watch. Maybe old wrestling too.

Enjoy the quick recap and some of my instant reaction when watching the show.

Nigel McGuinness, Adam Cole and Tommaso Ciampa promos

    • Match-maker Nigel McGuinness is out to start the show. Nigel looks happier and healthier in spirit and energy than he’s been since returning to ROH in a non-wrestling role.

    • Nigel announces that Mark Briscoe has poison ivy and will sit out the main event match leaving Team All Stars in need of a replacement.

    • Adam Cole is out to gloat about Briscoe being afraid of him. Cole used the term “story time” before his promo which elicited “story time” chants by the fans for the 2nd show in a row. That seems like a new catch phrase. Mark Briscoe comes out with his poison ivy to chase Cole to the back.

    • Tommaso Ciampa comes out and asks Nigel to replace Mark Briscoe in the Champions vs. All Star main event. There’s some tension teased between Nigel and Ciampa but Nigel agrees claiming Ciampa was on his short list of replacements anyway.

    • Decent segment to set up the change for the main event and everyone played up their current storylines. This was one of the better uses of Nigel McGuinness. Despite watching just about every ROH show and being a huge Nigel fan, I sometimes forget what his role actually is.
