• This Or That (8/28/2015)

Everybody loves binary decisions, especially wrestling fans! In This Or That, we’ve forced ourselves to choose between two options that relate to wrestling.

Over four questions, @TimWelcomed, @JoeySplashwater and @TomBlargh will have to choose one of two options and give their reasoning on each of their choices. You can then vote on which one you’d choose, giving you the false impression that you’re somehow involved and we care about your opinion chance to join the conversation!

Before we start, here’s last week‘s results:

Who would you rather see wrestle in a superhero costume?

Hugh Jackman as Wolverine – 63%, Stephen Amell as Arrow – 37%

    Bigger athlete in wrestling?

    Dennis Rodman – 62%, Mike Tyson – 38%

Who would you rather see Kevin Owens toss off a stage?

    Donald Trump – 70%, Jeremy Piven – 30%

Who would you rather see star in a WWE film?

    Big E – 83%, Fandango – 17%

Did you like the finish to John Cena vs. Seth Rollins at Summerslam: Yes or No?

    Controversial finishes.

I love a good laugh but this was complete bullshit. This was supremely WCW of them. This ending seemed like something Hogan would’ve came up with when he arrived to the building and saw he was booked to lose clean. I have mixed feelings on Jon Stewart but he’s usually very likable in the WWE atmosphere. I know he likes the product and seems to genuinely enjoy being there so I wanted to like this but I could not do that. This was Seth Rollins’ best singles match since joining the main roster. It was something he desperately needed after all of this time playing (a very good) weasel-like champion. This ending stopped that performance from ever getting the amount of recognition it deserved.

I know they still want to protect Cena but are they so out of new ways to pull that off that this is the best they could come up with? It was nonsense. Don’t get me wrong, the idea of Jon Stewart being an aging *clears throat* “smart mark” type who doesn’t like change is a GREAT idea and he can do it well but don’t just throw that into a big match because you can’t figure out how to end it. Fuck that. He’s not even going to be around a lot. Where could this even possibly go that would be worth that ending? Nowhere. This was cheap.

My WOE brothers have strong opinions on both sides and I’m just stuck in the middle. At the live show, it was hilarious and the crowd’s reaction to it made it a beautiful moment. On the other side, it really wastes the next level star making performance of Seth Rollins as no one is talking about how tremendous he was on that night. The rational the next night is what soured me on it. I automatically like Jon Stewart less for trying to protect that jerk Ric Flair’s title record. I could see myself being for it in any scenario but Flair love so I’m giving this a big NO. Team T-Man.

Get a load of these two fucking MARKS. Yeah, I said it! I SAID IT LOUD. Here’s what wrestling is meant to be: a great fucking laugh. I was at Summerslam live and in person and I laughed a LOT at “Old” Jon Stewart taking out “Big” John Cena. Imagine that finish being pitched backstage, imagine them all around the table saying “yep, that’s the one”. Imagine the look on Rollins’ face when he realises the finish of the biggest win of his career ties directly into the crazy political leanings of Vince Jr. Imagine what the fuck Jon Stewart must have been thinking. It was GREAT. It was WRESTLING. It’s PURE, UNADULTERATED WRESTLING, and I accuse anyone who didn’t like it of being unable to handle the banter. THE ATTITUDE ERA IS BACK!!!!

Also, if you vote ‘no’ on this then please let me know ASAP so I can block and report you on Twitter dot com.

    YES!!!!! YOU BASTARDS!!!!

Better wrestler: Finn Balor or Sasha Banks?

    NXT stars.

After watching Finn Balor wrestle more and more I’m starting to see that he’s not really grabbing me with his in-ring skills. I like his mic work. It’s decent and can only get better. His gimmick is incredible although “The Demon” shows up too much for my taste. It should feel way more special and rare. It’s not like they have to cover up his looks or anything. The dude is supremely handsome. I see him having a huge future but hopefully his wrestling skills start shining through so I can fully appreciate him. He’s definitely not bad but compared to others like Sasha Banks or Sami Zayn (get well and come back soon!!!!) his wrestling doesn’t stick out to me.

Sasha Banks is one of, if not THE, best performers in the WWE. From her facial expressions to her ferocity as a heel in the ring it is very hard to think of someone any better right now.

    Sasha Banks

I thought of this question because after watching NXT, I honestly am not sure who I enjoy watching more. Watching Finn Balor wrestle reminds me of watching Michael Jordan play basketball. It just feels right. I think Balor needs to be on the main roster yesterday but at least these TakeOver specials get the joy of having him. I’m still siding with Sasha Banks. Her work on the TakeOver specials are unlike anything else in wrestling right now. Everything she does is money in the ring and she’s as close to a perfect performer as there is in wrestling right now.

    Sasha Banks

Right now, it’s Sasha by a considerable distance. Finn is really very good but he just hasn’t hit his WWE groove in the same way that Sasha has (though really, there are very few who have). I look forward to his matches but I haven’t found myself personally invested in them yet. I’m sure he’ll get there, but I just hope it’s sooner rather than later.

    Sasha Banks

Worse booking by WWE this year: Roman Reigns road to Wrestlemania or The Divas Revolution?

“They will like what we tell them to, damn it!”

I find the handling of The Divas Revolution pretty tasteless. It’s not as transparent as Roman’s push but this has been disgusting for so many reasons. WWE is a business and everything is about money. I get that but these people can’t EVER let anything organic take place without later spinning it and trying to squeeze every buck out of it in the worst way possible. This isn’t and never was a revolution. I’m all worked up now and could go on forever about so many aspects of this. I’ll save my “I still don’t think Roman Reigns is good” rant for another time.

    The Divas Revolution

Roman Reigns was awful because it was a little more blatant but the fall of the Divas Revolution may be worse. Between the top heel in the company telling you that you need this, the story being a complete mess and basically disrespecting the audience all add to it. If they just introduced Sasha Banks, Charlotte and Becky and started having matches without plugging Ronda Rousey or telling you what you’re supposed to feel, it would have worked much more effectively.

When you tell an audience what to do and how to feel, it’s natural they will reject it, especially if the faces of the movement are a hated authority figure and a MMA fighter who doesn’t work there. The female wrestlers have all the potential to work right now and it’s just being done so poorly.

    The Divas Revolution

Man, The Divas Revolution is such a bummer. I think the Roman Reigns ‘Mania lead-in was rubbish, but the only thing at stake was Roman Reigns’ main event career so who really gives a fuck? As for the Divas, every single one of the new girls deserves better and it’s been a hugely wasted first impression for all of them. Hopefully the meandering, pointless trios storyline gets abandoned and we get a decent singles feud to focus on. Also, get Stephanie and the hashtags out of there for fuck’s sake, this shouldn’t be a branding exercise.

Which would you rather have as a pet: Alligator or Lizard?

    Alex Riley inspired.

Lizards are small and you can lose them. Then you’d have to worry about it crawling on you in your sleep or it dying or just whatever. No thanks. I’m not really a fan of reptiles in any way but alligators are HILARIOUS looking. So yeah, I’ll go with those goofy looking, little-legged things.

In junior high school, we had a pet lizard and I think we had to feed it maggots or worms or whatever those creepy things were and it was NOT delightful. I completely understand why Alex Riley hates them even if he can’t accurately spot them. Alligators are pretty wonderful and even though they’re dangerous and may possibly kill you, at least you don’t have to touch maggots. Plus talking about your pet alligator is a great story for the homies. If you brag about your pet lizards, they’ll think your girlfriend is your mother. Word to A-Ry.

Alligators are fucking assholes, man! They’re fascinating creatures and I love watching them, but they’re mean little fuckers and I wouldn’t want to share my apartment with one. Lizards seem a little more relaxed and less likely to take a bite out of me, so let’s go with them.
