• This Or That (8/13/2015)

Everybody loves binary decisions, especially wrestling fans! In This Or That, we’ve forced ourselves to choose between two options that relate to wrestling.

Over four questions, @TimWelcomed, @JoeySplashwater and @TomBlargh will have to choose one of two options and give their reasoning on each of their choices. You can then vote on which one you’d choose, giving you the false impression that you’re somehow involved and we care about your opinion chance to join the conversation!

Before we start, here’s last week‘s results:

Who needs a win more at Summerslam?

    Brock Lesnar – 73%, Seth Rollins– 27%

    Who do you miss more?

    Dolph Ziggler – 54%, Kane – 46%

    Better Tough Enough season?

    Steve Austin’s – 58%, Chris Jericho’s – 42%

    Would you rather watch?

Fantastic Four (2015) – 56%, 2 hour Raw with Sheamus in every segment – 44%

Who would you rather see wrestle a match in superhero outfit: Stephen Amell as Arrow or Hugh Jackman as Wolverine?

    Marvel vs. DC.

I love that these two seem to genuinely enjoy being around wrestling. Amell is working really hard to make this match work and that’s great. I deeply wish it was someone from a show I liked so I could be a bit more invested. Jackman wrestling in a Wolvie costume though… that’s probably unbeatable and I need it.

    Hugh Jackman as Wolverine

Stephen Amell looks like such a natural with a true love and respect for the wrestling industry so it pains me but I have to go with Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. As great as Amell may be, Wolverine is still Wolverine. Imagine someone in a Wolverine costume swinging his claws all over his opponent in a wrestling ring. (CHIKARA doesn’t count.) Much like Amell, Jackman did a great job in his WWE appearances as well but they’re pretty much even until you realize Wolverine is superior to Green Arrow.

    Hugh Jackman as Wolverine

I bloody loved Hugh Jackman’s Raw appearances – he seemed to be having a great time and he also legitimately punched Dolph Ziggler in his stupid improv face. A hero to everyone. I’m really excited for Stephen Amell at Summerslam though – he seems fairly quick and flippy AND! Since he’s not quite the star that Jackman is, I think he’ll be able to do much more in the ring since no-one cares that much if he breaks something.

So, even though I’ve never watched a single episode of Arrow and I much prefer Wolverine as a character, I can confirm that I intend to contract a severe case of Amellmania at Barclays Center (but if he doesn’t wrestle in character, I will be sorely disappointed – I want the whole thing to be REALLY stupid).

Better athlete in wrestling: Dennis Rodman or Mike Tyson?

    Monday Night Wars.

    2015-08-13 10_09_47-hqdefault.jpg (480×360)Tim:

Mike Tyson did way more for the company he worked for while doing far less than Dennis Rodman. Him and Austin had a real aweome moment but Dennis Rodman actually wrestled and seemed very in to it (well, as in to something as Dennis Rodman could be). He was PERFECT for the NWO at the time. I’ll always be a fan of his stint in WCW.

    Dennis Rodman

This is the toughest question for me because I thought both were the greatest uses of celebrities in wrestling. Dennis Rodman in the NWO was one of the coolest things during the Monday Night Wars and I will always appreciate The Worm’s classic matches. Despite never wrestling, Mike Tyson’s involvement was the true start of WWE passing WCW for good as his segment with Steve Austin is still probably the greatest moment in Monday Night Raw history. Rodman was cool but Tyson helped WWE in a much larger way.

    Mike Tyson

Mike Tyson did fuck all aside from throw a couple punches, tear his shirt off and do some really weird crotch-chops. Gonna have to go with Rodman here, he committed to his role as a grappler. Also! His presence in the nWo is yet another confirmation that Terry “Hollywood” Hogan is NOT a racist, so that’s nice.

Which celebrity would you rather see Kevin Owens toss of a stage: Jeremy Piven or Donald Trump?

    Slimeballs vs. Kevin Owens.

Kevin Owens is awesome so of course I want to him to toss the human shit-show that is Donald Trump off of the stage. He would become a hero after that. Jeremy Piven seems like an insufferable chump but his much deserved tossing off the stage wouldn’t elevate Owens like Trump. I can forget about Piven. Trump needs to be stopped.

    Donald Trump

I can’t believe I’m deciding against someone from Entourage being thrown off the stage but Donald Trump is clearly a terrible human being in every sense. Trump is racist and sexist. Jeremy Piven is just a goof. Besides, Piven’s Summerfest moment was way more entertaining than Trump’s Wrestlemania 23 segments. Throw the evil old man off the stage, KO.

    Donald Trump

I came up with this question! Basically, I picked the two guys who’ve guest hosted Raw that seem to be the worst human beings. Donald Trump is absolutely awful but there’s just something about Jeremy Piven, man. It might be that I saw him on the cover of ‘Success’ magazine, which is apparently a real fucking publication:

Who would you rather see star in a WWE Film: Fandango or Big E?

I don’t know how Tom thought of this question.

I’m still not into Fandango. He seemed alright on Swerved but nothing close to how amazing Big E is. I want a WWE film starring Big E so bad. It could be something like he finds a pair of shoes that can make him fly and he has to save his niece from a bad time at summer camp.

    Big E

Maybe if it were the entire New Day together, I would be able to go with Big E but Fandango is top tier when it comes to the acting. Fandango would destroy Miz, Dolph Ziggler, Dean Ambrose and all the other wannabes WWE already puts into their films. Have you seen his greatness on SWERVED? So much money is left on the table during Fandango-mania.

THIS IS A GOOD FUCKING QUESTION MAN. Basically, Big E and ‘Dango are the two guys on the roster who I think are most capable of carrying a film by themselves. Xavier and Kofi are also incredible in The New Day, but Big E has that star quality. I want to see him in a WWE film as a firefighter who somehow ends up swapping bodies with his daughter or something.

However, Fandango… look, I have made no secret of my admiration for that man. He is extremely good and has proved capable of being a Bloody Good Laugh even while hamstrung with a lame gimmick. Him doing a Fonzie impression on commentary is still one of my favourite weird WWE moments from the past five years and he was also absolutely sensational in his segment on WWE Swerved. Make him the star of WWE Swerved: The Motion Picture. Make that happen now.
