Wrestling On Earth Fantasy Draft: Round Eleven

    Brad’s pick: HIROSHI TANAHASHI

    hiroshi-tanahashi-draft-card

    Brad:

I went with Hiroshi Tanahashi because while he is young, he has the experience as being in the top position with New Japan Pro Wrestling. He carries himself like a complete star and his charisma is only that I can describe as The Beatles.

His work ethic and his dedication to the art form of pro wrestling is almost unmatchable. While he can do his share of high flying, he is a very solid worker. He has drawn sold out crowds in some of the largest arenas and is the definition of a global superstar.

    Tom’s pick: JOSEPH PARK ESQ.

    Tom:

For someone who’s been wrestling for less than two years, Joseph Park Esq. shows an astonishing natural ability, both in the ring and in his promos. While his nerves are still clear sometimes, there’s a raw intensity and will to win that makes me think he could be a really good hand in the ring within just a few short years.

Obviously, the memories of his brother Chris (you know, Abyss) still haunt him, and there is some family resemblance in their wrestling style when Joseph ‘Parks out’. However, with a little anger management, I’m sure we could keep this in check and he’d be a great addition to our roster. What’s more, it never hurts to have a seasoned lawyer on your side!

    Tim’s pick: NIGEL McGUINNESS

    nigel-mcguinness-draft-card

    Tim:

My non-wrestler pick is someone who I think deserves to make all of the money available. Nigel McGuinness is one of my favorite speakers (and at one time, favorite wrestlers) in wrestling history. Having him as a young wrestler’s manager would be a huge help to my roster.

I would love to use him as a heel manager training a young face and slowly creating a cocky heel over time. McGuinness will always be considered a legend in my mind and I think with the right role could be great without wrestling. I don’t think he’s been used to his strengths since he’s quit wrestling.

    typicalROHfan’s pick: MIKE BENNETT

    mike-bennett-draft-card

    typicalROHfan:

Much like fantasy football, in the last round picks I will look for a risk and a safe bet. I’m not sure which Mike Bennett is. I’d view him more as a wild card. Rumored to have been close to a WWE deal and wrestling on various independents, Bennett has made a name for himself.

I think there’s an untapped potential there that has yet to be seen so I guess this is the risk in a more nontraditional sense of the word. In a way, he reminds me of Bobby Roode. Always expected Roode to skyrocket faster but it took a while. When he finally got his chance, he ran with it and was one of the best things in wrestling. I see a lot of that happening with Bennett’s future. Plus he likes Disney movies so the locker room will have a dope DVD selection.

    – If you want to hurl abuse at our draft pickers, you can find them on Twitter at @BradWardFGN, @TomBlackett, @TimWelcomed and @typicalROHfan. Please don’t though, they’re trying their best.
