WWE Battleground 2013 Preview

    • WWE Battleground 2013 Preview

WWE has a PPV this weekend. It is allegedly named Battleground. Seriously. We’re not making this up. You can Google it!

Giving their thoughs and predictions on what to expect from the PPV are members of the site @TimWelcomed, @typicalROHfan and @TomBlackett.

Dolph Ziggler vs. Damien Sandow (pre show match)

      typicalROHfan:

Dolph Ziggler is currently feuding with Dean Ambrose. Dean Ambrose doesn’t have a match on the PPV. Of course this means Dolph Ziggler will face……. Damien Sandow. The match should be really good. I actually wish it was on the PPV due to the lame ads that air mid-match on the live stream. Definitely a chance to be better than any match on the show.

      Interest Level: 7/10
      Prediction: Dolph Ziggler wins.

      Tim:

I really don’t know why this match is happening exactly. Not that a match needs a real reason to happen. I love random matches, it’s just that I watch Raw every week but keep finding that I forget so much about what I see lately so I don’t know if I missed the build-up to this or not. I’m guessing with Ziggler and Ambrose supposedly still in some form of feud that Ziggler will come out on top here. Sandow still holding the briefcase also backs up my belief. Should be a decent pre-show match.

      Interest Level: 6/10
      Prediction: Dolph Ziggler wins.

      Tom:

WWE continues their streak of having the pre-show match be more interesting than 80% of the matches announced for the PPV card! I love Damien Sandow. I hope he cashes in tonight and makes the Smackdown Title mildly interesting for at least a month or so, but he’s definitely losing here.

      Interest Level: 7/10
      Prediction: Dolph Ziggler wins.

      CM Punk vs. Ryback

      typicalROHfan:

You’d think with John Cena out, WWE would want to utilize CM Punk in an important role. You’d think wrong. Feed me snores.

      Interest Level: 0/10
Prediction: Ryback wins. Big Show cries out of depression.

      Tim:

I love CM Punk. I love Paul Heyman. WWE is obviously dead-set on making me not want to care about what’s going on with them by throwing Ryback, of all people, into this.

      Interest Level: 4/10
      Prediction: Ryback wins.

      Tom:

I hope Ryback cradles Paul Heyman like a baby.

      Interest Level: 5/10
      Prediction: CM Punk wins.

Curtis Axel vs. R-Truth for the IC Title

      typicalROHfan:

      UNREAL

      Interest Level: zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Prediction: Big Show cries out of boredom

      Tim:

      Jesús Cristo. No me importa.

      Interest Level: Cero/Diez
      Prediction: Curtis Axel es victoriosa

      Tom:

This match takes the ‘view’ out of ‘pay-per-view’. But seriously though, what’s up with R-Truth’s forehead?

      Interest Level: 0/10
Prediction: Anticipate a national water shortage as every member of the WWE Universe (#DoritosJacked #MtnDew) takes a bathroom break while this is on.

AJ Lee vs. Brie Bella for the Diva’s Title

      typicalROHfan:

“I have a feeling Brie is gonna break off and be a face diva. Nikki is gonna be wwe’s Miley 2013.” – @BradWardFGN

      Interest Level: 3/10
Prediction: Brie Bella wins the title. Big Show cries out of cute outfit jealousy.

      Tim:

This might not be too bad. Guessing Brie will win here because why not?

      Interest Level: 3/10
Prediction: Brie Bella wins the Diva’s Championship

      Tom:

I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS. Well, kind of. It’s a sliding scale, you know? AJ is fun to watch and Brie has fun ring-gear.

      Interest Level: 5/10
Prediction: Brie wins, but then Triple H sends out the Dudley Boyz to put her through a table.

The Shield vs. Cody Rhodes and Goldust

      typicalROHfan:

One of the more enjoyable things on RAW for me lately has been the Rhodes family saga. Cody can elevate himself with a few more strong performances, Goldust is proof that wrestling fans appreciate wrestlers after they’ve been gone and Dusty is dope. I’m hoping Seth Rollins gets pinned and eventually turns face by leaving or getting kicked out of The Shield.

      Interest Level: 7.5/10
Prediction: Cody and Goldust wins. Big Show cries out of joy.

      Tim:

I actually do care about this one. I am an avid non-supporter of Goldust and I have come to terms with being in the minority, however I will say he looked great in his match with Orton. I don’t quite understand why he’s still “Goldust” in this scenario and kind of takes away the vibe they’re trying to set here but I think it has helped Cody Rhodes very much and that is what matters. I’m almost 100% positive Cody and Goldie pull it off here.

      Interest Level: 7/10
Prediction: Cody and Goldust Rhodes win.

      Tom:

THIS WILL RULE. We love Goldust (when he’s not using social media) and if Dusty’s on commentary at all, then it will be even better.

      Interest Level: 9/10
Prediction: The fightin’ Rhodes boys win.

Alberto Del Rio vs. RVD for the World Title in a Hardcore Match

      typicalROHfan:

This is a hardcore rules match which helps the appeal quite much. The Del Rio title matches have been dull so it’s nice to see the addition of weapons and RVD possibly doing things with them. I predicted a Ricardo heel turn last show but forgot they wanted to put zero effort into that show. Despite this show also being pointless, I will predict Ricardo turning on RVD and helping Del Rio retain here.

      Interest Level: 6/10
Prediction: Alberto Del Rio wins. Big Show cries because he’ll have to lug around that irrelevant title again sooner or later.

      Tim:

I enjoy Alberto Del Rio matches but instantly forget the substance a few days later leaving me with cold feelings towards his next match. This is our relationship. The hardcore stipulation should make Rob Van Dam a little more intriguing. I’m still not into this at all though.

      Interest Level: 3/10
      Prediction: Alberto Del Rio wins.

      Tom:

Is Punk / Ryback  a hardcore / extreme rules / no DQ / no holds barred / South Philly street fight / whatever match? Or is it just this one? Anyway. I’m guessing this will FINALLY be the PPV where Ricardo pulls his baggy RVD shirt off to reveal a tight, form-fitting tuxedo tee underneath and goes back to being Alberto’s garbage boy. I will keep guessing that for every PPV going forward. It’s going to be my ‘thing’.

      Interest Level: 4/10
Prediction: Alberto Del Rio wins with help from Ricardo BUT then RVD still hits him with the Van Terminator AND Damien Sandow cashes in his ostrich skin briefcase.

Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton for the WWE Title

      typicalROHfan:

The title being vacated has added a little to this. I’m looking forward to this match a bit more than the last PPV with a bit more question up in the air. I’m expecting another screwy finish and going with the prediction of a ref bump and a huge schmoz leading to Big Show knocking out all The Shield, Orton and Triple H. Daniel Bryan wins and these two have their final match at Hell In A Cell with Triple H vs. Big Show co-main eventing.

      Interest Level: 8/10
Prediction: Daniel Bryan wins. John Cena returns with an ark to save everyone from drowning in Big Show’s tears.

      Tim:

Oh. This again? I might just be in a cynical mood today. Daniel Bryan is the best in the business but even he can’t get me interested in his chase for the title at this point. It’s true that the chase for the belt is intriguing but it’s all about pulling the trigger at the right time. We’re way past that. It’s been pretty repetitive and has lost all intrigue. They’ve lost me with this storyline and I really hate that. That being said, it should still be the best match on the card.

      Interest Level: 8/10
Prediction: Bryan wins the WWE Championship and gets stripped sometime after.

      Tom:

It will be a pretty good match, but Randy Orton wins through Big Show writing Daniel Bryan a tear-stained letter, wrapping it around his fist and then punching Bryan in the face with it.

      Interest Level: 7/10
      Prediction: Randy Orton wins.
