Wrestling On Earth Fantasy Draft: Round Eight

Brad:

I think Forever Hooligans are the perfect team to work my base roster of talent as they have the gimmick that casual fans can connect with as they are a throwback to the Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff.

They come off as two natural villains and also have the in-ring work experience to go. I feel their singing of the Russian anthem would draw a great negative reaction to them, especially in the United States.

Tom’s pick: WILLIAM REGAL

Tom:

My non-wrestler pick is William Regal. I love comedy. I love wrestling. I love comedy IN wrestling… but I generally hate WWE’s interpretation of what comedy in wrestling is. However, even in spite of Vince McMahon having no discernible sense of humour, Regal has always managed to be hilarious.

He can be quietly funny, he can be sarcastic, he can be broad, but what makes him especially perfect as my non-wrestler pick is that he can flick the switch and become deadly serious and threatening in an instant. Really, as fantastic as he was in the ring, my favourite memories will always be of his antics backstage as WWF Commissioner and in other interviews and promos. Whether he’d be commentating or acting as a matchmaker or whatever, I think he’d be great in my promotion. Plus, I gotta REPRAZENT 4 THE UK MASSIVE WHAT WHAT.

Tim’s pick: CHUCK TAYLOR & JOHNNY GARGANO

Tim:

My second tag team pick is Chuck Taylor and Johnny Gargano because why wouldn’t someone pick them?! I loved them as a pairing since the first time I saw them together. They can have great matches together or in singles competition and Chuck Taylor’s brand of comedy is in a class all of its own. Good comedy is very important in wrestling. Shocking fact, I know.

I felt they would fit in well against my other other tag team pick, reDRagon and into my promotion as a whole due to their consistency in-ring and on the mic. Chuck Taylor, while fairly well known on the independent wrestling scene, is still harshly underrated by most when talking about good in-ring competitors. Gargano’s improved so much over the last two years that it is hard to cast him aside and not pick him up for my company. These two always bring the goods.

typicalROHfan’s pick: SHEAMUS

typicalROHfan:

This pick may have destroyed any chance I had of winning the best draft voting! I was deciding between Sheamus, Randy Orton and Alberto Del Rio for my third WWE pick. I went with Sheamus because he spent more time as a top tier WWE face than Del Rio did and quite frankly, I think he’s a much better wrestler than Orton.

I also planned to mention how durable he is, wrestling long matches on most shows and never dealing with an injury in WWE yet. Since then, he was injured and has to miss six months. Hopefully, he will stay relatively healthy to give my promotion (Candy Land) his best and this doesn’t turn into a Percy Harvin situation.
