  • WCW Comic Book Reading Club: Issue Two, Page 4

WCW: The Comic Book was published in the early 90s by Marvel Comics. Nobody in wrestling or comics paid it much attention, and after 12 issues, it was cancelled and lost to the ages. Until now.

On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, @tomblackett will post a new page of the WCW comic with his comments and we’ll read through it together. We’ll be there for each other, through the good (Vader! The Steiners! Sting! Cactus Jack!) and the (Johnny B.) Badd.

WCW: The Comic is probably the property of Marvel Comics / WWE, though I’m not entirely sure. This website makes no claims to own it; all panels and images are posted in the spirit of fair use and are the property of their respective owners and creators.

Tom: On this page, we see… wait, is that Frank Reynolds from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia in the crowd?

    It totally is!

Man, this comic’s got it all. Anyway! Remember that fun gimmick in the first issue where each commentator had a different coloured box, so you could follow who was saying what? Well, they’ve abandoned that for this issue for no good reason. Fortunately, it’s still pretty easy to tell which ones are coming from the Computerized Announcer of the ’90s, Terrence Taylor because he WILL NOT SHUT UP ABOUT COMPUTERS:

In the ring, the Steiner brothers deliver a piledriver to some poor jobber, which ‘Rampaging’ Ron Wilson draws to look completely devastating:

Here’s hoping the poor guy took the brunt of the impact on his shoulders, because otherwise his neck’s been pretty much snapped into a right angle.

There’s a clip of some shit-talking from Bobby Eaton and Arn Anderson before roving reporter Missy Hyatt goes to Rick and Scott for their reactions. However, before they get a chance to show-off the mic skills that made the Steiners famous, they’re assaulted by a pair of familiar looking ice-cream vendors:

I love this panel so much. Why aren’t wrestlers dressing up in costumes to assault each other every week? If TNA changed their name to the Gene Parmesan Wrestling Federation and guaranteed at least three costumes every episode, they’d be making money hand over fist in no time. BELIEVE IT, BROTHER.

Anyway! Have a weekend off from the WCW Comic and I’ll see you on Monday for page 5.
