WCW Comic Book Reading Club: Issue Two, Page 15

    • WCW Comic Book Reading Club: Issue Two, Page 15

WCW: The Comic Book was published in the early 90s by Marvel Comics. Nobody in wrestling or comics paid it much attention, and after 12 issues, it was cancelled and lost to the ages. Until now.

On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, @tomblackett will post a new page of the WCW comic with his comments and we’ll read through it together. We’ll be there for each other, through the good (Vader! The Steiners! Sting! Cactus Jack!) and the (Johnny B.) Badd.

WCW: The Comic (Issue Two, Page 15)

WCW: The Comic is probably the property of Marvel Comics / WWE, though I’m not entirely sure. This website makes no claims to own it; all panels and images are posted in the spirit of fair use and are the property of their respective owners and creators.

Tom: THE FINAL CHAPTER OF LEX LUGER AND RON SIMMONS BEGINS… NOW.

First of all, what is with these guys constantly running into the corner headfirst? Gotta put your hands up, brother! Also, it looks like the turnbuckle pad has magically reattached itself. I mean, it’s possible the referee fixed it, but he’s been pretty busy getting punched out / shouted at.

Lex goes for the pin again, but Ron shows that FIGHTING SPIRIT and kicks out with a defiant shout so loud that it blacks out his speech bubble:

Lex is furious about this, choosing to take things out on the poor referee, who’s fast becoming the only sympathetic character:

BRO, HE WASN’T EVEN SAYING ANYTHING. Ad then there’s the final sequence, which I still can’t figure out:

So, here’s the chain of events:

      • Ron pins Lex.
      • Trenchcoat pervert pushes Ron’s back.
      • ????
      • Lex suddenly has Ron in a sunset flip position, and despite Lex’s recent transgressions, the ref angrily counts the three.

Was there a panel missing or is Lex Luger just a master of unseen pin reversals? Unfortunately, while this is the end of the match, it isn’t the end for the battle between Ron and Lex. Find out what happens next on Friday.
