WCW Comic Book Reading Club: Issue Three, Page 5

WCW: The Comic Book was published in the early 90s by Marvel Comics. Nobody in wrestling or comics paid it much attention, and after 12 issues, it was cancelled and lost to the ages. Until now.

On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, @tomblackett will post a new page of the WCW comic with his comments and we’ll read through it together. We’ll be there for each other, through the good (Vader! The Steiners! Sting! Cactus Jack!) and the (Johnny B.) Badd.

WCW: The Comic (Issue Three, Page 5)

WCW: The Comic is probably the property of Marvel Comics / WWE, though I’m not entirely sure. This website makes no claims to own it; all panels and images are posted in the spirit of fair use and are the property of their respective owners and creators.

Tom: So, what’s Sting been up to?

Dancing divinely to karaoke music with Missy Hyatt, of course! WAIT WHAT. Karaoke music? Does the writer know what karaoke music is? Does he… does he think it’s a genre? “Yeah, I’m pretty into pop-punk, ’90s alternative and karaoke, how about you?” WHAT.

More to the point, who’s the one singing karaoke? Since it’s the WCW cruise, the only possible options are a wrestler or a wrestling fan, and neither of those sound too good! Unless it’s the Steiners doing a duet, because that would be magical.

Alternatively, could it be that it’s just the karaoke music playing and NOBODY is singing along to it? So it’s basically just a synthesizer instrumental that they’re jiving to? Man, a guy could go crazy thinking about all this.

Also of note: Sting is one of those guys who wears his sunglasses indoor. They’re pretty sweet shades, but it’s still disappointing.

Moving on, the lights go out and Sting and Missy get a case of the creeps:

OH NO! But wait, who’s making the announcement? We’ve already seen Cactus Jack take control of the bridge, so what’s the deal? Will this be explained? Am I over-analysing a 20 year old comic about wrestling? The answers to these questions are: I don’t know, I don’t know, I don’t know, definitely yes.

Sting races to go help, but AW SHIT CHEMICAL FOAM:

‘SK-OOOSH’ indeed. What happens next? Will Sting have to change clothes?! Find out on Monday!
