WCW: The Comic Book was published in the early 90s by Marvel Comics. Nobody in wrestling or comics paid it much attention, and after 12 issues, it was cancelled and lost to the ages. Until now.

On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, @tomblackett will post a new page of the WCW comic with his comments and we’ll read through it together. We’ll be there for each other, through the good (Vader! The Steiners! Sting! Cactus Jack!) and the (Johnny B.) Badd.

WCW: The Comic (Issue Three, Page 1)

WCW: The Comic is probably the property of Marvel Comics / WWE, though I’m not entirely sure. This website makes no claims to own it; all panels and images are posted in the spirit of fair use and are the property of their respective owners and creators.

Tom: So I guess the script for this page went like this:

“Page 1:

STING: HEADS UP, LUMBERJACK DUDE!”

And that’s it! So if anyone tells you that writing comics is too much work, point them to WCW: The Comic and tell them to shut their stupid face. There’s no explanation of who ‘lumberjack dude’ is (or why Sting’s talking like Bill and/or Ted), but whatever.

There’s not much else to this page! The credits box did disappoint me though:

Describing the issue as a ‘nasty nautical yarn’ is amazing, but where are the adjectives for all the members of the creative team? ‘Merciless’ Mike Lackey has become plain old Mike Lackey! Ron Wilson is no longer ‘Rampaging’! That was one of my favourite weird touches from the last issues, so I’m very sad that it’s been dropped.

Anyway. The story nasty nautical yarn gets started properly next week, so I’ll see you then!
