WCW Comic Book Reading Club: Issue One, Page 18

    • CW Comic Book Reading Club: Issue One, Page 18

WCW: The Comic Book was published in the early 90s by Marvel Comics. Nobody in wrestling or comics paid it much attention, and after 12 issues, it was cancelled and lost to the ages. Until now.

On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, @tomblackett will post a new page of the WCW comic with his comments and we’ll read through it together. We’ll be there for each other, through the good (Vader! The Steiners! Sting! Cactus Jack!) and the (Johnny B.) Badd.

WCW: The Comic (Issue One, Page 18)

WCW: The Comic is probably the property of Marvel Comics / WWE, though I’m not entirely sure. This website makes no claims to own it; all panels and images are posted in the spirit of fair use and are the property of their respective owners and creators.

Tom: Ron Simmons can NOT catch a break. This is maybe the shortest babyface comeback ever:

Still, at least it’ll teach him a lesson about pontificating when he’s got that fighting spirit going. It looks like Johnny B. Badd and Diamond Studd are all set to keep working him over, until Sting intervenes:

I HAVE A LOT OF ISSUES WITH THIS LITTLE SEQUENCE:

      1) ‘Studster’?

Sting, are you just making up cute nicknames for Scott Hall while you’re trying to throw him out of the ring?

      2) ‘Stingersized’!?!

I can confirm that the WCW comic is literally the only place the word ‘stingersized’ has ever been used, probably because it makes no sense. Seriously, go Google it and you’ll see. More evidence that no-one was paying attention to what was going on in this book as it was coming out.

      3) STUDD’S A DUD?!?!?!

If there’s one thing that makes me wish I lived in the reality the WCW comic existed in, it’s ‘Studd’s a dud’. Just imagine how amazing and enthusiastic a crowd would have to be to get behind a terrible chant like that in such an enthusiastic way. It’s like Reseda squared!

Anyway, that’s us down to the final three. See you on Wednesday where we’ll see another elimination! CLIFFHANGEEEEEEEER.
