WCW Comic Book Reading Club: Issue One, Page 15

    • WCW Comic Book Reading Club: Issue One, Page 15

WCW: The Comic Book was published in the early 90s by Marvel Comics. Nobody in wrestling or comics paid it much attention, and after 12 issues, it was cancelled and lost to the ages. Until now.

On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, @tomblackett will post a new page of the WCW comic with his comments and we’ll read through it together. We’ll be there for each other, through the good (Vader! The Steiners! Sting! Cactus Jack!) and the (Johnny B.) Badd.

WCW: The Comic (Issue One, Page 15)

WCW: The Comic is probably the property of Marvel Comics / WWE, though I’m not entirely sure. This website makes no claims to own it; all panels and images are posted in the spirit of fair use and are the property of their respective owners and creators.

Tom: Here’s a sexy page of Scott Hall as the Diamond Studd for you to cut out and paste on your wall but WAIT WHERE ARE HIS SUNGLASSES??!

      In every…

      single…

      previous…

      appearance…

      from the Diamond Studd…

…we see him wearing sunglasses. Regardless of whether he’s throwing dropkicks or WHATEVER, they’re right there on his face. And now they’re GONE? And the commentators don’t even mention it? Like it’s not a big deal?

Another excellent example of how everybody involved in the WCW Comic didn’t really care too much about this stupid comic about wrestling.

Another distressing thing about this page is the elimination of P.N. News, which he somehow manages to rap about as it happens:

      My name is P.N. News,
And I’ve got the fresh raps,
      When I hit the floor,
      I make a big *SPLAT!*

It’s weird that P.N. would celebrate his impending loss through rap, but I guess that’s what real rappers do – they rap about what’s REAL, yeah? They rap about LIFE. They also rap using the sound of their own body hitting concrete to finish their rhymes.

The kids on the outside aren’t much help, coming off like the whitest nerds ever as they console P.N.:

“Stupid dope”? Man, shut up kids. P.N. News totally ignores them and I don’t blame him.  Anyway, see you on Wednesday.
