TNA Bound For Glory Preview and Predictions

    • TNA Bound For Glory Preview and Predictions

This is our first preview for a TNA show. TNA still has shows. Honest.

Giving their thoughs and predictions on what to expect from the PPV are members of the site @TimWelcomed, @typicalROHfan and @TomBlackett.

Chavo and Hernandez vs. BroMans vs. Bad Influence vs. Joseph Park and Eric Young in a Gauntlet match. Winner gets a tag title shot on the show.

      typicalROHfan:

First off, I have to say it’s kind of sad just how low the buzz is for this show. I recall spending one of my first paychecks in 2006 to order Bound For Glory. I still consider that the best TNA show ever. 7 years later, TNA is still alive but with as little interest by me as ever. I don’t even think it’s bad. It’s just there, which I feel is worse than bad. That being said, I do have some anticipation for this show.

This match should be cool. Hopefully Bad Influence vs. Joseph Park is most of the match. I can’t imagine TNA leaving Daniels and Kaz off the card and they definitely shouldn’t. They’re getting the PPV title shot.

      Interest Level: 6/10
Prediction: Bad Influence wins. Joseph Park is delightful. Chavo is boring.

      Tim:

This show just screams “This is TNA’s Wrestlemania.” Look at all of the big-time matches that have been built up through-out the year. Oh… yeah, that’s just the main event. Anyway, this match needs to be heavy on the Bad Influence. This show needs to be heavy on the Bad Influence. Bad Influence will hopefully get the shot at the Tag Team Championship. Bad Influence.

      Interest Level: 5/10
      Prediction: Bad Influence wins.

      Tom:

What a frustratingly empty show. It doesn’t look bad or anything, it just exists in a vacuum devoid of any interest. Think about all the nonsense we’ve endured over the past few months with Aces and Eights, the return of the Main Event Mafia, the debut of Rampage Jackson and Tito Ortiz… does any of it matter now? Almost all of the matches are just guys thrown together, with only the main event really having any storyline driving it.

Anyway, this opener. Man, one of these teams is not like the other, one of these teams just doesn’t belong. Hopefully Hernandez gets a crazy dive in before he and Chavo are quickly disposed of, and then the other teams can just get on with being amazing.

      Interest Level: 7/10
      Prediction: Bad Influence wins.

Gauntlet Winners vs. Gunner and James Storm for the Tag Titles

      typicalROHfan:

Bad Influence will rightfully get the win. Gunner sucks. I miss when I cared enough to refer to him as “Granite.”

      Interest Level: 2/10 (1/10 if EY/Joseph Park wins. -29/10 if Chavo/Hernandez wins.)
Prediction: Bad Influence win the tag titles.

      Tim:

If I cared about a duo less than Storm and Gunner, there’s names would be Chavo and Hernandez. Bad Influence will get the shot and, if there is any justice in this world, will win.

      Interest Level: 6/10
Prediction: Bad Influence wins the TNA Tag Team Championship.

      Tom:

Gunner and James Storm, wrestling’s least likeable team. I’m assuming Bad Influence win the gauntlet and hoping they have enough energy to keep this match somewhat interesting.

      Interest Level: 4/10.
      Prediction: Bad Influence wins.

ODB vs. Gail Kim vs. Brooke for the Knockouts Title

      typicalROHfan:

I consider Gail Kim the best female wrestler in the world. If only she was in the X Division match instead. ODB does nothing for me and Brooke is Brooke. I imagine the match is okay but we long for the days of Gail and Terrence Terrell having the best match of the show.

      Interest Level: 3/10
      Prediction: Brooke wins.

      Tim:

Gail Kim is amazing but even she can’t make me overlook the other two here. I’m going to say that ODB wins. I guess.

      Interest Level: 3/10
      Prediction: ODB wins.

      Tom:

Is this what’s left of TNA’s women’s division now? Ooph. I don’t even know who the champ is (ODB, maybe? Or is it Brooke?), but Gail might as well be the one to win.

      Interest Level: 2/10
      Prediction: Gail Kim wins.

      Kurt Angle vs. Bobby Roode

      typicalROHfan:

These two main evented Bound For Glory a few years for the title and had one of the more disappointing ends to a PPV. I thought the first 10 minutes of the match was excellent and the last few killed it. Since then, I’ve hoped for a heel Roode vs. face Angle match and I’m finally getting it. I expect it to be the best match of the show. Congrats to Bobby Roode on making the Hall of Fame, btw.

      Interest Level: 9/10
      Prediction: Kurt Angle wins.

      Tim:

There is so much potential here that was not met last time these two squared off. Hopefully it’s not a case of bad chemistry and these guys can meet expectations this time around. Probably the match I’m most excited about. Also, it is probably the only match I care about at all.

      Interest Level: 8/10
      Prediction: Kurt Angle wins.

      Tom:

It’s all down to Kurt, really. My memories of the last Roode / Angle Bound for Glory encounter aren’t too positive, but I’m hoping Kurt will BRING HIS WORKING BOOTS BROTHER and they’ll have something pretty great.

      Interest Level: 6/10
      Prediction: Kurt Angle wins.

      Magnus vs. Sting

      typicalROHfan:

Is Magnus good enough to use this opportunity to shine? I’m not sure. That’s the only aspect of the match I’m somewhat looking forward to.

      Interest Level: 5/10
Prediction: Magnus wins. I think he turns heel after to be Dixie’s wrestler vs. AJ.

      Tim:

I know the world is pumped up for another classic Sting match. He’s in his prime so he should be able to carry Magnus through this.

      Interest Level: 3/10
      Prediction: Sting wins.

      Tom:

THE EPIC CONCLUSION TO THE MAIN EVENT MAFIA STORYLINE. I can’t recall how this match came about, and it’s tough to care enough to go back and check. Magnus has yet to be as fun in singles competition as he was when he was teaming with Samoa Joe. Not that he’s bad, just a little flavourless. A heel turn finish sounds about right, especially with Sting as the sympathetic old man in a t-shirt.

      Interest Level: 7/10
      Prediction: Magnus wins.

Manik vs. Austin Aries vs. Chris Sabin vs. Samoa Joe vs. Jeff Hardy for X Division Title in Ultimate X

      typicalROHfan:

Basically an all star X Division match. I’m looking forward to this but I don’t know how much the Ultimate X gimmick will add to the match. Most of the best facets of current day IMPACT are in this match.

TJP is really great at playing the masked character and has been my favorite TNA performer this year. Chris Sabin’s character work has been amazing during the heel turn. Austin Aries and Jeff Hardy are probably TNA’s most consistent performers of the last year and a half. Samoa Joe……. is in the match too.

It should be really fun but I don’t think expectations will be met by those who have theirs quite high. No pun intended.

      Interest Level: 9/10
      Prediction: Austin Aries wins.

      Tim:

While I hold most of the competitors involved in this match as some of my all-time personal favorites , I think with it being an Ultimate X and having so many wrestlers involved that it will be too chaotic and busy to enjoy it as much as I feel like I should. Hopefully I am wrong.

      Interest Level: 7/10
      Prediction: Samoa Joe wins.

      Tom:

Another match where I can’t remember who the champion is – I feel like it’s probably Sabin. Right? Maybe? Or Manik? Anyway, it’s a bunch of really good dudes in a silly match with ropes and structures and stuff, y’know? Should be a lot of fun.

      Interest Level: 9/10
Prediction: Sabin (or Manik, or whoever’s holding the title) retains.

Bully Ray vs. AJ Styles for the TNA World Title

      typicalROHfan:

They’ve had a great match on PPV before when given time and it should be the same for the most part here. There’s two outcomes possible. AJ Styles wins cleanly and celebrates to end the show or Dixie “screws” AJ. One of the two would be horrible. I’ll let you guess which.

      Interest Level: 7/10
      Prediction: AJ Styles wins.

      Tim:

The match will be okay but what is going to suck is when Dixie screws AJ Styles out of the win and TNA’s big show ends on a sour note. At least this match has had some build-up though!

      Interest Level: 5/10
Prediction: Bully Ray retains through shenanigans.

      Tom:

The match is almost superfluous to how REAL things are gonna get when Dixie comes out. Hopefully she just stops the match half-way through, brings the entire roster out and proceeds to reveal their REAL names one after the other, just to prove that TNA is the REALEST wrestling company in the world.

      Interest Level: 4/10
Prediction: AJ Styles wins. Things get REAL.

We’ll be back with a PWG Matt Rushmore Preview on Friday.
