• This Or That (7/9/2015)

Everybody loves binary decisions, especially wrestling fans! In This Or That, we’ve forced ourselves to choose between two options that relate to wrestling.

Over four questions, @TimWelcomed, @JoeySplashwater and @TomBlargh will have to choose one of two options and give their reasoning on each of their choices. You can then vote on which one you’d choose, giving you the false impression that you’re somehow involved and we care about your opinion chance to join the conversation!

Before we start, here’s last week‘s results:

Which WWE reality show is better?

    Better tag team?

Better choice for Wrestler of the Year: John Cena or Roderick Strong?

Who is the Wrestler of the Half Year?

    cena-strong

    Tim:

I’ve always been on the Roddy train but for the last couple of years he hasn’t delivering like we knew he could. This year has been awesome seeing him raise the bar. I can’t possibly say anyone is having the year Cena is having though. Week after week his US Open Challenge matches are the reason to watch Raw and then add the Owens feud to that and it cements his spot at the top of 2015 so far. I do wish he would talk less or talk like a normal person sometimes…

    John Cena

    Joey:

John Cena is definitely the better choice. Cena has been having superb matches on a weekly basis ever since winning the United States Championship and his matches often create a “Wrestlemania atmosphere” in having fans feel like its must see. Roderick Strong has been killing it but some of his PWG matches have been boring to a high level. Cena also was in my favorite match of the year vs. Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar so the WOTY iiiiiiiiis here.

    John Cena

    Tom:

I’m still not entirely onboard with the Roddy renaissance – he’s been very good (and he was fantastic when I saw him live at the PROGRESS Super Strong Style 16 tournament) but I haven’t seen enough of his truly great matches to consider him even in the same bracket as John Cena, who’s had some of the greatest matches of his career in the span of the last 6 months or so. It’s been really refreshing to see him compete with a more varied group of guys during his tenure as US Champ, and I hope it continues!

Would you rather: Have Brock Lesnar throw a car door in your section or Watch a 20 minute Sheamus/Roman Reigns match?

    Pain.

    brock-lesnar-car-door

    Tim:

I might could dodge a car door hurling at me. I couldn’t dodge a whole Sheamus/Reigns match. They have the type of matches that no matter how long you tune out when you come back expecting it to be over they are still going somehow. Reigns and Sheamus are two of the worst things about watching Raw for me. If the car door hits someone in my section I’d feel like an asshole but hopefully it would hit me for putting this awful answer out there.

Have Brock Lesnar throw a car door in my section

    Joey:

If I were at the show Brock Lesnar threw the car door in the crowd, it would have been the most terrifying experience of my life. That being said, I’ll take it over Roman Reigns vs. Sheamus. Heel Sheamus is among the most painfully boring things I’ve ever seen in my 23 years of watching pro wrestling. I’m attending Summerslam and the Raw after Summerslam both so I’ve been fearing seeing this live for a while now. Besides, the car door hitting me would still be long odds if tossed in my section. Bring it, Brock.

Have Brock Lesnar throw a car door in my section

    Tom:

I’m a tall guy, man, and being head and shoulders over most people puts me at even higher risk of car door pieces flying off and smashing me in the face. Reigns / Sheamus is redefining how dull a WWE match can be, but at least it doesn’t involve any actual bodily harm.

More likely to main event a PPV in 2015: Cesaro or Dolph Ziggler?

    Mid-card pushes.

    ziggler-cesaro

    Tim:

I just can not see Ziggler in the main event of anything any time soon. It’s crazy where he is now. I like to think we are closer than ever to Cesaro main eventing something but I have to check myself on that because they’ll likely let him drift back into obscurity. They’ve squandered Cesaro every time he has been on the verge of breaking out. So yeah, he probably want be main eventing anything. Okay… so maybe Ziggler in some weird high-stakes multi-man tag team PPV main event?

    Dolph Ziggler

    Joey:

Cesaro is the superior wrestler and has never been given chances like Dolph Ziggler has but I can’t see him ever getting the main event opportunity. I also don’t think Ziggler will be given another chance at the top of the card to show his unlikeable personality or terrible mannerisms but I can see him involved in a Survivor Series match or a TLC match. ZigMan wins by technicality. Maybe he’ll main event an IPPV comedy show as well. Sorry, Cesaro.

    Dolph Ziggler

    Tom:

The idea of Ziggler being in a main event ever again is unfathomable to me. When even the crazies over at Wreddit have turned on you, you know things have gone bad. Cesaro also seems to be in a rough situation, but he’s at least shown that he can be relied upon to have a great match with pretty much every main event level guy they have right now, so it’s possible he’ll sneak his way into headlining a PPV at somepoint… right? Maybe if someone gets injured? I guess it all depends on just how deep Vince’s hatred for the Swiss is, but I think it’s more likely than The Zigman ever headlining.

Better ice cream truck item: WWF Ice Cream Bar or Firecracker Popsicle?

    Ice cream.

    ice-cream

    Tim:

Two of the three ice cream truck items I have ever had! I didn’t like the WWF Ice Cream Bar. I’m just not big on chocolate and cookies unless it’s a very odd day for my taste buds. Firecracker Popsicles are excellent. They hit that “refreshing and tasty zone” perfectly. Better ice cream truck item than all of them though?

    Blue-Bunny-Batman-Bar

    Firecracker Popsicle

    Joey:

Both are five stars but let’s break down the three layers of each option.

WWF Ice Cream Bar: The cookie is excellent. The ice cream is excellent. The chocolate would sometimes fall apart when biting into the treat and make a giant mess.

Firecracker Popsicle: Cherry is excellent. White lemon is excellent. Blue raspberry is excellent.

There you have it, folks. The Firecracker wins because of the god damn chocolate also falling apart. Also, the Firecracker Popsicle was never a CM Punk t-shirt.

    Firecracker Popsicle

    Tom:

Fun fact: The Brit version of the Firecracker Popsicle is called a Rocket Ice Lolly! Cultural differences, right? Crazy stuff.

Anyway, I liked the novelty of seeing my favourite grapplers printed on something I could eat, but WWE Ice Cream Bars were kind of bullshit. Everything was kind of low quality, and there are enough superior ice-cream options to make it feel like a lesser option. What’s more, I was always more of a fan of the refreshment that comes with flavoured ice. They last longer too! There’s no downside to the Rocket Ice Lolly (I REFUSE TO CALL IT A FIRECRACKER, IT DOESN’T EVEN LOOK LIKE A FIRECRACKER FFS, IT LOOKS LIKE A ROCKET SHIP).
