• This Or That (5/13/2014)

Everybody loves binary decisions, especially wrestling fans! In This Or That, we’ve forced ourselves to choose between two options that relate to wrestling.

Over four questions, @TimWelcomed, @JoeySplashwater and @TomBlackett will have to choose one of two options and give their reasoning on each of their choices. You can then vote on which one you’d choose, giving you the false impression that you’re somehow involved and we care about your opinion chance to join the conversation!

Before we start, here’s last week‘s results:

Which continuing feud do you dislike more?

Daniel Bryan vs. Kane – 80%, John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt – 20%

Which English champion loses their title first?

Tie! Bad News Barrett – 50%, Paige– 50%

    Bigger bust?

    Sin Cara’s WWE career – 68%, Batista’s Return – 32%

Better source of cartoons in your lifetime?

    Cartoon Network – 53%, Nickelodeon – 47%

More likely to be the next WWE World Champ: John Cena or the field (anyone else)?

Who seems more likely to be the next champ with the recent turn of events regarding Daniel Bryan?

    cena-vs-field

    Tim:

I would love to see someone else get it that isn’t Cena, Orton, Miz (lol), or Ryback (lolol) for a little while but I guess I can’t really go against Cena getting it. It’s just how things have been and will be until he decides to hang it up. So, yeah… Cena.

    John Cena

    Joey:

The Daniel Bryan injury is huge if he’s out for a while and for that reason, I think WWE will go for stability in having Cena winning the title as he is old reliable. Looking at the roster, no one is really in the position to be champ. The close calls are Bray Wyatt, Cesaro and Roman Reigns but none of them are in the place WWE wants them to be when winning the big one for the first time but would make a good surprise.

Triple H and Brock Lesnar are also possible for the short term but of all those names, Cena is the only one that seems fairly realistic. This is all of course if Bryan actually has to drop the title. If he doesn’t, I still expected Cena to be the one to take the belt off of Bryan at Summerslam leading to a Brock Lesnar vs. Cena Wrestlemania 31 main event.

    John Cena

    Tom:

Man. I mean, I really can’t imagine who else it could be. There’s still plenty of juice in a Bryan/Cena feud that they could take advantage of by having it go back on Cena, and I also get the feeling that the WWE is close to going into panic mode, which generally involves Cena getting the belt back. It’d be cool if it was someone COMPLETELY new and different, but I really don’t see that happening.

    John Cena

Who will step up more in Daniel Bryan’s absence: Cody Rhodes or Dolph Ziggler?

Both getting wins on RAW and with higher opening spots opening up, who is more likely to step up?

    cody-ziggler

    Tim:

I’d like to see Cody Rhodes kick it into another gear. Dolph Ziggler always goes all out but when he has a push (that happened once or twice, I swear!) he kicks it into overdrive. It is a shame he is where he is in the company right now but I think Cody would be more interesting to see go all out and is more likely to have a chance.

    Cody Rhodes

    Joey:

I’m way higher on Cody Rhodes but I think the answer is Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler has regressed big time and refuses to make the small changes needed to become a big time player. Whether appearance, entrance or the overselling (if all fans are talking about is how great you sold, not how awesome the guy who threw you around looked, is it really great selling?), he has a mid-card stink that’s hard to see elevating.

Cody Rhodes showed amazing potential last year during his feud with The Authority and The Shield. It’s a shame he’s turning heel because he looks more amazing in the face role. A lot of his more impressive move-set is geared towards a face perspective so being a heel may spell a mediocre run thus Ziggler having a better chance as at least as the smark crowds like NY, Chicago and beyond will chant for him opening up opportunity.

    Dolph Ziggler

    Tom:

I think I’m done with Ziggler for a little while. He’s very talented, but the whining and the weak show-off character have left me pretty sick of him. Cody’s in a pretty nothing spot right now but I’d be excited to see him given the opportunity to break out a little more – he always seemed to be skirting around the main event scene but never quite got there, and I think he’s capable of having some very fun, fresh matches.

    Cody Rhodes

More valuable free agent: Bad Influence or Prince Devitt?

Kazarian & Daniels are gone from TNA and rumored to be heading to ROH. Prince Devitt is done with NJPW and rumored to be heading to WWE. Who is the more valuable free agent?

    bad-influence-devitt

    Tim:

I think Bad Influence’s age is the only reason I’ll have to pick Prince Devitt here. All three are great wrestlers but I’d have to give Bad Influence the edge when it comes to character-work and being entertaining. That is not enough to overcome the upside in Devitt’s age and the fact that he has a “look” that could be more appealing to a wider and more judgmental audience.

    Prince Devitt

    Joey:

Both parties are excellent. Bad Influence gives you an amazing tag team act but they are a little older than Devitt. While Devitt is spectacular and younger leading to more upside, he has a heavy accent and many ignorant American fans may not welcome that. I’ll still say Devitt because the ceiling is much higher, though I can see Bad Influence helping ROH much more than Devitt gets to contribute to WWE.

    Prince Devitt

    Tom:

As hard as it is for me to ignore Devitt’s spectacular body paint homages to some of my favourite Marvel characters (and Anti-Venom), Bad Influence have been consistently incredible for a while now and I think they’d be an immediate benefit in whichever company they end up in. Devitt’s also a guy I’m really excited about following as he starts the next chapter in his career (or should I say the NXT chapter in his career HAHAHA), but I think he might need a little readjusting before things really get going with him.

Better small meal: Soup or sandwiches?

    We love food.

    sandwich-soup

    Tim:

I can get into a good soup here and there but I love a sandwich. I love experimenting with sandwiches. I’ll try any kind of sandwich at least one time. If turkey is involved I’m in Heaven. Give me your sandwich.

    Sandwiches

    Joey:

Tim ALMOST swayed me by name dropping turkey sandwiches (the God of sandwiches) but it is the soup! Sandwiches are more consistent but if you put the best sandwich up against the best soup, soup will always win out. Chicken noodle is timeless. Give me the soup greatness.

    Soup

    Tom:

A good bowl of soup is always a treat, but I can’t even begin to count how many I’ve left half finished. It’s just exhausting after a while, you know? You can’t go wrong with a sandwich though.

I think this 4th question here is the hardest one you asked us since I found your site. but I had to pick soup, personally, by the end!
