Everybody loves binary decisions, especially wrestling fans! In This Or That, we’ve forced ourselves to choose between two options that relate to wrestling.
Over four questions, @TimWelcomed, @JoeySplashwater and @TomBlargh will have to choose one of two options and give their reasoning on each of their choices. You can then vote on which one you’d choose, giving you the
false impression that you’re somehow involved and we care about your opinion chance to join the conversation!

Better wrestler: Adrian Neville or Bad News Barrett?
I think Adrian Neville has more potential overall but as of right now, Bad News Barrett has the whole package. He’s a good talker and pretty good in the ring. I really like the guy. Hopefully one day WWE will use him to his full potential.
Bad News Barrett
Adrian Neville has special talents that very few can imagine but Bad News Barrett is the better overall wrestler. It took me a while to see it but Barrett is very good and if he ever gets away from the hell that is the Intercontinental title picture, he may have a chance at being elevated higher on the card. Love what Neville does in NXT but it’s hard to see him adapting to a broader product without making some changes and I’m not sure he can.
Bad News Barrett
First of all, I’d like to thank Nightlife for these extremely respectful questions. As the site’s resident British person, I’m delighted to share my informed opinion on these hot-button issues.
Anyway, Barrett. I like Barrett, man. I like him a whole bunch. He deserves better than he’s had so far and I hope he gets a chance to be in a spotlight position this year. However, I’ve really gotten into Adrian Neville over the past year or so; his feud with Sami Zayn showcased that he’s able to play more than just the flippy nice guy and I think he’s improved a huge amount in terms of putting together a great match.
ALSO, Neville is from Newcastle so his accent’s more of a laugh than Barrett’s Lancashire drawl. It reminds me of Byker Grove, and that is NEVER a bad thing.

Better wrestler: Rockstar Spud or Grado?
I remember being underwhelmed by Rockstar Spud almost every time I saw him early on in his TNA career. I think he has grown a lot over the last year to become one of the best acts in that company and one of the better booked. Although, the roster not being what it once was may make him look a little better than he actually is. Grado is supremely entertaining. He’s a very unique act and I dig it. Wrestling-wise I’ve seen very few matches of his that I thought were any good.
I enjoy Grado but a lot of that depends on Madonna. Without the entrance music on TNA TV, it was a less special experience. Rockstar Spud has become the best thing in TNA and one of the most overall entertaining performers in wrestling. The guy is a star if TNA gives him the platform he deserves. Spud has more charisma, wrestling talent and is just more entertaining.
This is ESPECIALLY hard for me because while I was born in Glasgow (HOME OF GRADO), I mostly grew up in Birmingham (HOME OF ROCKSTAR SPUD). I think both are sensational talents and, while Grado is possibly the better personality, Spud is more complete as a guy I want to see in the ring. Grado’ll get there though, don’t you worry about that.
Also, Spud’s probably been to Big John’s, Birmingham’s leading low-cost fast food outlet, where you can get a 12 inch pizza with literally as many toppings as you like for just £6.99. Top that.

Better wrestler: Dynamite Kid or Nigel McGuinness?
I really like watching old Dynamite Kid matches. He was extremely good for his time… however, I believe that Nigel McGuinness was one of the absolute best wrestlers to ever step into the ring. He was just such a great technical wrestler who could deliver intriguing matches almost every time he went at it.
Dynamite Kid was before my time and while I’ve seen enough of his work to appreciate him, it’s hard to relate to or understand someone’s work if it was from a time before mine. Nigel McGuinness was the ROH champion during the time period I fell in love with the ROH product and was a big factor of exploring my wrestling interests outside of just WWE and TNA. McGuinness meant more to me.
I’m a fan of both (or at least as in-ring talents – while Nigel seems super nice, Tom Billington seems like an absolutely dreadful human being) but it’s hard to compare them because they’re from such different periods. Dynamite Kid really stood out as something different and special though – he was completely ahead of his time. As good as Nigel was, he was around at a time when indy wrestling was rife with incredible technical talents, so he just doesn’t feel quite as exceptional.

Better food: Meat pie or Fish & Chips?
1. Fish smells awful.
2. I’M ALLERGIC TO FISH.
3. Meat is delicious and even better when inside of a pie so this is a no brainer.
4. Meat Pie was my nickname in highschool.
I’ve never had the authentic British meals but I love fish and chips. I’m no fan of french fries as discussed in past This Or That editions but every time I’ve loved fries, it was served with seafood. I’ve had some variations of meat pie but it’s nothing compared to the wonderful meal that is fish and chips.
Fish and chips
I bloody love British chips. Joey always makes a fuss about hating fries, but I guarantee he’d be into chips, they’re just so good. I can take or leave the fish, but the chips… man, the chips.
Meat pies are pretty amazing too though. America doesn’t know how to do savoury pies, they never get the pastry right and the fillings are always just insubstantial, whereas British meat pies are just the best, even the cheap ones you get at a sports game. Man. I just had dinner a half hour ago but talking about all this is making me hungry again. I’m going for meat pie this time, but it’s a tough call.
