• This Or That (3/11/2015)

Everybody loves binary decisions, especially wrestling fans! In This Or That, we’ve forced ourselves to choose between two options that relate to wrestling.

Over four questions, @TimWelcomed, @JoeySplashwater and @TomBlargh will have to choose one of two options and give their reasoning on each of their choices. You can then vote on which one you’d choose, giving you the false impression that you’re somehow involved and we care about your opinion chance to join the conversation!

Before we start, here’s last week‘s results:

Worst choice for a Wrestlemania main event?

    Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania 31 – 82%, The Miz at Wrestlemania 27 – 18%

    More embarrassing in 2015?

    Chris Jericho – 91%, TNA – 9%

    Blue Pants?

    Yay – 79%, Nay – 21%

    Better Brad Ward wordplay?

    Brad Van Dam – 78%, Braddy Roode – 22%

Will Wrestlemania 31 be the worst Wrestlemania of the last 15 years: Yes or No?

    Times are not great.

    wm

    Tim:

There have been a lot of bad Wrestlemanias so being the worst of them all is quite the challenge but I believe it very well could be. Take into account all of the incredible talent on the roster, what the card could have been, what the card should have been, and the fact that WWE has done this THIRTY fucking times already and still can muck it up this badly. On paper there are a probably only three matches that should be good and should deliver but knowing the current WWE climate I do not have any hope. I don’t think I’ve ever been more disinterested and in WWE, much less a Wrestlemania, and as I said before there have been some abysmal Wrestlemanias. It’s been a very disheartening road to Wrestlemania.

    Yes

    Joey:

This comes down to one thing in answering this question – do I think any match on this show will be remembered as great years from now? Every Wrestlemania of the last 15 years has had at least one of those to me, even the weaker ones.

The ladder match should steal the show but that’s just a spotfest. Sting/Triple H should be memorable for the entrances and finish but I doubt Sting can be in a great overall match that you can watch dozens of times in your life. John Cena/Rusev is the top choice and I just don’t see it happening. This card sucks and I think the show is going to be a train wreck.

    Yes

    Tom:

In terms of match quality, it seems destined to be the worst since the ’90s, but in terms of entertainment… man, it could be something special. There’s the possibility of the crowd turning on the show in a really vicious way, which I’m excited for. At the very least, I don’t think it’ll be a boring Wrestlemania, which is enough to keep it from being classified as the worst of the last 15 years (WRESTLEMANIA 27, COME ON DOWN!)

    No

Better version of Paul Heyman: Paul E Dangerously or current day Paul Heyman?

Paul Heyman has had a great career.

    Screen Shot 2015-03-12 at 20.02.30

    Tim:

I think Paul Heyman is amazing on the mic. He’s gotten even better throughout the years and tries really hard without showing it in most cases. I believe there are times where the storylines can not even be saved by him and sometimes his age shows a bit in that he can be a little “too real” in a way. The little things like his facial expressions and reactions while being at ringside add so much to every match he’s been involved with. When I’m not interested in Heyman talking it is because what is going on storyline-wise is very forced and you can always tell. I think he’s better now than ever but it feels like he’s fallen off a bit over the past year but then again, nothing in WWE is interesting. I also fully believe he is a scummy human.

    Current Day Paul Heyman

    Joey:

Current day Paul Heyman is great but I am such a sucker for his WCW tenure which is lost in his career of ECW promoting and WWE managing. He was more of a traditional manager back then in a time that allowed it and I prefer that style of his work over the current day advocate despite the excellent promos. His heel antics of cheating and backtracking were outstanding.

    Paul E Dangerously

    Tom:

While current day Paul Heyman is frequently the sole highlight of Raws, I’m getting a little tired of his “Reality Era” promos. He said UFC! He used real names! It’s like The Punker never left!!! It can be effective, but it can also be really cringey.

Paul E Dangerously was great though, just a manic cartoon character of a man that was so fun to watch interact with people. He brought an energy and a craziness that was genuinely funny and made wrestling a good time, and I miss wrestling being a good time.

    • Paul E Dangerously in WCW (20%, 9 Votes)

Who do you side with in their podcast war: Chris Jericho or Taz?

Old men arguing about podcasts. Welcome to the future.

    Screen Shot 2015-03-12 at 20.05.39

    Tim:

Both men can take a hike. Taz is so much more passive aggressive and quick to get his feelings hurt. This whole thing DUMB AS HELL. I think it’s hilarious that he exists. Taz is pretty much a child. I had rather read or hear his shit because it’s way more funny to me than Jericho’s dad routine.

    Taz

    Joey:

They’ve both lost their minds but Chris Jericho bragging about his downloads is worse than Tazz being a passive aggressive baby. Plus, I’m more bitter against Jericho because he made us think he was cool for years while Tazz has been a jerk forever.

P.S. Tazz hates when you spell his name with two z’s.

    Tazz

    Tom:

FUUUUUCK TAZZ FOR LIIIIIIIFE. He’s just an awful, whiney baby of a man. I don’t have much love for Jericho, but he at least manages to act like an adult, albeit a super-lame one.

Better unhealthy snack: Potato chips or cookies?

    JUNK FOOD.

    Screen Shot 2015-03-12 at 20.01.43

    Tim:

I have to be in a specific mood for either and generally don’t like them but I find myself going for potato chips way more than cookies. It’s just how my taste buds are get over it. Salt & Vinegar? Pickle flavored? Those are my go-to flavors. So many fun types to experience. It’s kind of beautiful.

    Potato chips

    Joey:

Cookies are great stuff but potato chips are the best junk food snack. There’s never been a time I didn’t want to destroy my health with some chips. My favorites are LAY’s Classic or Sour Cream & Onion. Cookies are better with ice cream or froyo while chips are always consistently great by themselves.

    Potato chips

    Tom:

Potato chips all day and all night (or, as I call them, crisps). I could comfortably eat, like, bags and bags of crisps whereas I get a little tired of cookies (or, as I call them, biscuits) after about 12 or so. I genuinely don’t know if there’s an upper limit on how many crisps I could eat. It’s a little scary.
