Everybody loves binary decisions, especially wrestling fans! In This Or That, we’ve forced ourselves to choose between two options that relate to wrestling.
Over four questions, @TimWelcomed, @typicalROHfan and @TomBlackett will have to choose one of two options and give their reasoning on each of their choices. You can then vote on which one you’d choose, giving you the
false impression that you’re somehow involved and we care about your opinion chance to join the conversation!
Before we start, here’s last week‘s results:

Will Daniel Bryan leave Wrestlemania as WWE Champion: YES or NO?
With the stipulation added that if Daniel Bryan defeats Triple H at Wrestlemania, he will face Randy Orton and Batista in the WWE Championship match, will he finally get the gold (for real this time) at Wrestlemania?
It would be detrimental to the ending of Wrestlemania 30 if Bryan lost. I think WWE has realized that they would have a huge moment on their hands with the show ending as Bryan overcomes the odds of multiple matches and a trio of opponents to win the title as the crowd “yes” chants with him. The only thing more I could hope for is him entering that last match to “The Final Countdown.”
He deserves this and I can only imagine the sour taste in everyone’s mouth if Batista wins in the end. It would be one of the more heartbreaking moments in wrestling. In the back of my mind I am scared silly that Triple H will beat him but the fact is WWE has to let Bryan go the distance.
It seems as if the crowd’s reactions to Batista and Bryan each have forced WWE’s hand into the ultimate dream scenario in which Daniel Bryan slays Triple H AND finally wins the WWE Championship on the same night. That night being Wrestlemania 30 of all shows.
I can’t imagine the Charlie Brown/Lucy football moment happening again at Wrestlemania. There’s no way they would make this last ditch effort to do all of this and not give Bryan “the moment,” right? Right? I won’t let you talk me out of this dream scenario come to life! I think I need to call him Danielson because Wrestlemania 30 just got REAL.
#HijackRaw was successful! Bryan is in two matches at ‘Mania! THEY DID IT! Ziggler’s nowhere to be seen so I guess the mid-card remains unelevated, but come on, baby steps here.
Anyway, well done to WWE for making something pretty great out of all that silliness. Whether Bryan will leave ‘Mania as champion… I mean, they’ve certainly given themselves an out by having the title match be his second on the card, especially if he’s on the receiving end of a sledgehammer beating after getting a win over Triple H. Having said that, bummer endings are a rarity at ‘Mania, and you know what? YOU GOTTA DREAM TO BELIEVE, BROTHER.

Better Wrestlemania match for The Shield: Breaking up for a triple threat match against each other OR staying together for a team match?
Shield warfare against each other or Shield warfare together against other dudes?
I don’t think The Shield needs to break up just yet. Their feud with The Wyatts and the constant good matches has kind of given them a little more steam than they had there for a bit. I think it would do a lot of good for the evolution of their individual characters to have problems with each other and still learn to get the job done as a unit when it comes down to it.
With The Wyatts focusing on Cena, I don’t know of any trios I could see them feuding with into Wrestlemania, so maybe WWE can find a scenario where they can have all three wrestle each other and then shake hands afterwards and save the actual break-up for Summerslam or something. That would probably require too much thinking for creative so I guess just break them up.
Breaking them up for a triple threat match.
As much as I love The Shield as a unit, I hope the split happens and we get a triple threat match at Mania. Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins have been doing such amazing in ring things lately and setting the crowd on fire that it would seem ideal to see how much legs they have. Also, Dean Ambrose has a lot he’s yet to shown that probably would come to light in singles.
Even if they didn’t want to break up The Shield, I still would hope for the triple threat match route in which they fight each other to get over whatever their problems are and then start the trio faction back up again. (FYI I think The Shield is already in the NWO/DX/Horsemen tier of greatest factions.)
Breaking them up for a triple threat match.
I don’t want The Shield to break up. I really don’t. I love them as a team and I’d be happy to see them continue to boil and bubble with all the dissensions and disagreements for another few months.
Having said that, I can’t think of any decent trios match for them to have – nothing’s going to top their last couple of matches against The Wyatts, and I’d rather not see them just facing a thown-together team of guys like last year, so it’s hard to argue that a triple threat match wouldn’t be more exciting. However, I really think that’s something they could keep building to for a while longer. Let the split happen at ‘Mania and then give them plenty of time to have a triple threat match at Extreme Rules or something.
Keep them together

Which Young Buck do you have a bigger man crush on: Matt or Nick?
Do I have to do this? It feels wrong. If I am forced I am going to have to go with Matt. I think he has the better hair (yeah, I said it) and how incredible he is at saying “baybay.” This is not to say they are not both great.
As difficult as this is to choose, I’m going with Matt. Before I say why, I’m really fascinated with Nick Jackson’s hair. Of all defined attributes, you’d assume Matt’s hair is cooler but I always find myself thinking “Why does Nick Jackson’s hair look so cool?”
That being said, I have to go with Matt for three reasons.
- The mannerisms in the ring, especially shrieking “cmon bay bay!” in between calling people “dorks.”
- His tweets are incredible and brilliant, rare for a wrestler. I wrote about it in depth here.
- He once photo-bombed a pic I took with Paul London.
Oh man. Honestly, it can go either way, but I’m pretty seriously in love with how Nick references ‘the boys in the back’ right now, so I’ll have to go with him today:
The boys in the back love dropping names. “Yeah I’m boys with the bucks” is heard often in locker rooms.

Unbelievable how much we popped the crowd last night. Super kicks galore. We had the boys in the back jumping for joy while watching.

Better TV nerd: Steve Urkel of Family Matters or Screech from Saved By The Bell?
Define “nerd” however you feel the need to.
They both annoy the hell out of me and I can’t hardly sit through either show anymore but I’d pick Save By The Bell if I had to. Family Matters created a whole new level of unbearable. However, Urkel is way better than Screech. Screech was a pretty big dumbass. He seemed like he was on a mission to prove this and leave Lisa alone, man. No means no. Then you have the man who plays him, Dustin Diamond. He is a douche and does not seem like a great person from things I have seen.
Urkel was an okay dude. He got sympathy from me unlike Screech, and could make some cool science stuff like TURNING HIMSELF INTO STEPHAN. I’ve tried turning myself into Stephan and let me tell you, unless you want a severe burn to your legs, an account on a PUA forum that brings nothing but shame onto your family’s name, and a house full of stray cats, do not try this. It is not easy.
Listen, (wo)man, it’s Steven Q Urkel. I’ve been watching Saved By The Bell a lot in the last year and in re-watching it, Screech wasn’t as much a nerd as he was a goon. He did stupid things, sold his friends out (as did Zack… these Bayside kids were jerks) and was played a complete tool in Dustin Diamond.
As a kid who wore glasses from a very young age, I recall the insults at the time being referred to as “an Urkel” instead of “four eyes” for my lack of great vision. That’s a new level of nerd relevance. Steve was more unique in how he embraced his nerdy ways as he invented a way to turn himself into Bruce frikkin’ Lee.
The end of Family Matters saw Urkel getting his dream life and dream girl while Screech went on to be in a horrible spin off series of Saved By The Bell. Go Urkel! Suck it, Screech.
OH MY GOD, YET ANOTHER THIS OR THAT FINAL QUESTION THAT I CAN’T ANSWER. Obviously, I watched Saved By The Bell. EVERYONE did, it was a worldwide phenomenon! However, Family Matters never made it to UK shores, so I only know Urkel from ‘I Love the ’90s’ type shows and such. Since I’m unable to answer this properly, I’m just going to make up my own question instead:
Which member of the Byker Grove duo turned 90s pop act did you like better: PJ or Duncan?
They made Newcastle cool long before Adrian Neville, but which one was your favourite?
Amazing question! Hmm. I mean, it’s so difficult to choose, because they really are in a symbiotic relationship – you can’t have PJ without Duncan, just as you can’t have Duncan without PJ. Duncan definitely seems like the more likeable of the two, both on and off camera – PJ did seem very prone to moodiness.
However, I do think PJ has greater depths, as demonstrated in this scene in Byker Grove where he was blinded during an illegal paintball game (although Duncan’s delivery of “he can’t see, man… he can’t see” at the end is also terrific):
So, if pushed, I’ll choose PJ. However, I’ll always choose to remember them together as the geniuses who brought us ‘Let’s Get Ready To Rhumble’:
