Preshow: American Alpha, The Hype Bros and The Usos vs. The Vaudevillains, The Ascension and Breezedango

    Joey:

I wish it was American Alpha vs. The Usos or Breezedango. I think this could be fun but who really cares?

    Interest Level: 5/10
    Prediction: Good boys win.

    Tim:

It’ll be nice to see American Alpha do some stuff, I guess. This’ll be forgettable I’m sure.

    Interest Level: 1/10
Prediction: The Uso Alpha Bros win.

    Tom:

Aw yeah, let’s kick this off right! Tag team action! Oh yeah! Oh YEAH!!

    Interest Level: 6/10
Prediction: American Alpha and pals win.

Preshow: The Dudley Boyz vs. Sami Zayn and Neville

    Joey:

    Interest Level: 5/10
Prediction: Sami Zayn and Neville wins. Bubba turns on Devon.

    Tim:

I’m going to take this time to say this whole Sami Zayn being in a thrown together tag match on the pre-show thing is incredibly lame. He’s had a great year in the ring and won his biggest match to date in my favorite match of the year so far just last month. All of that and this is where he’s at? You could’ve been creative and somehow worked into him and Owens tagging for a while instead of Jericho or something. ANYTHING. If this is what you were going to do with him why not just let Owens beat him again?

The Dudleyz are for the trash and I don’t want to watch two great wrestlers take on boring garbage people in a pre-show match. They’ve done nothing interesting since they’ve returned to the company. I’m pissed! I’m letting the world know.

    Interest Level: 0/10
Prediction: The Dudleyz win because this is shit!

    Tom:

Poor Sami. Poor Neville. Get them damn Dudz outta here. Hopefully Sami and Neville use the “fighting spirit” they learned in Japan to shoot on Big Bubba with some signature strong style strikes! Minoru Suzuki! MAMMA MIA!!!!!

    Interest Level: 4/10
Prediction: Sami and Big Adrian win.

Cesaro vs. Sheamus (Match 1 in their Best of Seven series)

    Joey:

There’s nothing wrong with either man and they have decent matches. The problem is it gets extremely repetitive and we all know this will likely culminate in nothing. I can’t say I’m overly excited but it could be good. They have to put this in the opening slot or on the pre-show while the crowd is still hot.

    Interest Level: 5/10
    Prediction: Sheamus wins.

    Tim:

These two are awesome wrestlers. They really are… but Sheamus can suck the life out of me despite that. It is some sort of weird magic he has. It doesn’t help that I’ve seen them wrestle more times than I ever needed to. The story hasn’t been compelling at all. They threw in Zayn beating Sheamus for some reason. It’s just strange. We have six more of these to go. I’d rather Cesaro be doing bigger and better things at this point. It just seems like a roadblock and not a match I can be excited about despite wanting to be.

    Interest Level: 3/10
    Prediction: Cesaro wins.

    Tom:

It’s hard to comprehend this being their first match in a best of seven series because it already feels like they’ve wrestled enough that there shouldn’t be too much question about who the better guy is. IT’S CESARO, LADS. EVERYONE KNOWS THIS.

Speaking of which, it’s testament to how great Cesaro is that I have any interest in this at all!

    Interest Level: 4/10
    Prediction: Cesaro wins. Continue reading

    Summerslam 2015 Preview and Predictions

The Prime Time Players vs. New Day vs. Lucha Dragons vs. Los Matadores for the WWE Tag Team Championship

    Joey:

We see this kind of match every Wrestlemania and it’s always a fun time. It should be improved this time with New Day being so over and Lucha Dragons likely being a fan favorite. Definitely look for New Day to get the titles back.

    Interest Level: 7/10
    Prediction: New Day wins.

    Tim:

It’ll be nice to watch The Lucha Dragons do their thing. The New Day are usually a good time. I’m not too interested in this one but it should have some good spots.

    Interest Level: 5/10
    Prediction: The New Day wins.

    Tom:

I feel like there’s been so much attention taken off the tag division lately that it’s hard to be too interested in this, even though it’s likely to be pretty good! Lucha Dragons seem to have been relegated to Main Event type shows with Los Matadores, while PTP have mostly been on commentary duties. Thankfully, The New Day has been consistently great so hopefully they get the belts back.

    Interest Level: 6/10
    Prediction: The New Day wins.

    This Or That (6/30/2015)

Everybody loves binary decisions, especially wrestling fans! In This Or That, we’ve forced ourselves to choose between two options that relate to wrestling.

Over four questions, @TimWelcomed, @JoeySplashwater and @TomBlargh will have to choose one of two options and give their reasoning on each of their choices. You can then vote on which one you’d choose, giving you the false impression that you’re somehow involved and we care about your opinion chance to join the conversation!

Before we start, here’s last week‘s results:

Which would you rather main event Summerslam?

Seth Rollins vs. Brock Lesnar – 83%, Seth Rollins vs. Triple H – 17%

    More exciting PWG announcement?

    Akira Tozawa – 65%, Angelico – 35%

Better option to defeat Jay Briscoe for ROH title?

    Jay Lethal – 54%, Moose – 46%

    Better gift?

    Candy – 83%, Flowers – 17%

More likely to leave Summerslam as WWE Champion: Seth Rollins or Roman Reigns?

    Shield.

    rollins-reigns

    Tim:

The Reigns/Wyatt feud seems like a buffer for Reigns to me. A solid win and obstacle to hold him over until closer to Summerslam. I think Reigns is not quite as hard to watch as he used to be (although I’m still not sold on him) but I’m  not sure if it’s really his time yet. I think if they hold off on him a bit longer he’ll be accepted more as champion but it really looks like he’s going to leave Summerslam with that title to me. I would really like Rollins to hold on to it for a little while longer. Maybe grow into a more confident heel before he loses the title and goes completely face.

    Roman Reigns

    Joey:

The hot rumor is that Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns will end up being the Summerslam title match but I’m still quite skeptical about this. Reigns JUST entered a storyline with Bray Wyatt that may be most his personal singles feud so far in his career.

Will they end that in 5 weeks? I just can’t see it. Until the title change actually happens at Battleground, I think Seth Rollins is entering Summerslam as champ and has the chance to leave as champ. Either way, I’d bet on Seth because I think Reigns will be stuck with Wyatt.

    Seth Rollins

    Tom:

Hopefully WWE’s learned from the sins of Wrestlemania and they’ll give the Roman Reigns Rehabilitation Project a little more time – just from a character perspective, he’s far more tolerable now but I still think he needs more time to  not be completely rejected as champion. Rollins’ run as champ has been kind of a mess, but I’d like to see him retain for a while longer and evolve from being a cowardly jerk to become… well, I dunno, a different kind of jerk.

    Seth Rollins

More likely to leave Summerslam as WWE Champion?

    • Seth Rollins (76%, 41 Votes)
    • Roman Reigns (24%, 13 Votes)

    Total Voters: 54

    Summerslam 2014 Preview and Predictions

Summerslam. On the WWE Network. Insert overdone $9.99 joke.

    WWE SummerSlam 2014

Giving their thoughts and predictions on what to expect from the PPV are members of the site @JoeySplashwater, @TimWelcomed and @TomBlargh.

Cesaro vs. Rob Van Dam (pre-show match)

    Joey:

RVD and Jericho should just form a tag team of old guys fans love who aren’t as good as they used to be. Put them against the Uso’s and Cesaro against Wyatt. I just saved Summerslam. Boom.

    Interest Level: 1/10
Prediction: RVD wins because Cesaro has to lose.

    Tim:

Well… at least Cesaro has a match? They’re sure making that Andre The Giant trophy cry.

    Interest Level: 0/10
    Prediction: Cesaro wins.

    Tom:

Welcome to the Attitude Era, Cesaro, YAH BASTARD!!!

    Interest Level: 2/10
Prediction: Robert Van Daminator wins with one of his spectacular moves from 1999.

The Miz vs. Dolph Ziggler for the Intercontinental Championship

    Joey:

I can’t get into this feud but Ziggler has been on a roll lately. Miz is still the lamest. Ziggler’s in ring talent will probably help the match over-deliver but I don’t have any excitement or interest in this one.

    Interest Level: 3/10
    Prediction: The Miz wins.

    Tim:

Not invested in this one at all. I’m sure Dolph Ziggler will make this a little better of a match. Not really much else to say about it besides that Miz still isn’t doing anything for me. I’m sure he’s going to retain the title. That’s what is best for Dolph anyway.

    Interest Level: 2/10
    Prediction: The Miz wins.

    Tom:

Man, fuck this show. I’m not looking forward to this match. Are you? If so, why? Is it because you still like seeing Ziggler bounce around and do stuff? Is it because Miz is wearing sunglasses now? Please let me know ASAP.

    Interest Level: 1/10
Prediction: The Miz wins. Continue reading

This Or That: Early Summerslam Thoughts (7/29/2014)

Everybody loves binary decisions, especially wrestling fans! In This Or That, we’ve forced ourselves to choose between two options that relate to wrestling.

Over four questions, @TimWelcomed, @JoeySplashwater and @TomBlackett will have to choose one of two options and give their reasoning on each of their choices. You can then vote on which one you’d choose, giving you the false impression that you’re somehow involved and we care about your opinion chance to join the conversation!

Before we start, here’s last week‘s results:

    Better bad-ass tag team?

The Road Warriors – 57%, The Steiner Brothers – 43%

    Better Attitude Era tag team?

Edge and Christian – 66%, The Hardy Boyz – 34%

    Better high flying tag team?

The Young Bucks – 70%, Motor City Machine Guns – 30%

    Better sitcom soulmates?

Troy and Abed from Community – 63%, Jim and Pam from The Office – 37%

Which Summerslam upper card match are you looking forward to more: Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena or Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose?

Two feuds! One choice! YOU DECIDE!

    brock-cena-ambrose-punk

    Tim:

Dean Ambrose vs Seth Rollins is going to be great, I’m sure. I am looking forward to it a good deal. Lesnar vs Cena should be a spectacle. The first match between the two is one of my favorite matches in WWE history. It was the one time I ever felt like Cena really did “overcome the odds” properly without ever taking me out of the moment. I am expecting a classic here with a great atmosphere.

    Brock Lesnar vs John Cena

    Joey:

I know it’s a guarantee that Rollins vs. Ambrose will deliver when it happens on PPV so that’s a safe bet where as Cena vs. Lesnar can be hit or miss. I’m still taking the WWE Championship match because their match at Extreme Rules 2012 was one of the best I’ve ever seen. Brock is the most credible guy in pro wrestling and Cena is the face of WWE so we’re gonna get that “big fight feel” WWE strives for and could get something very special. On the other side, we’ve seen many great “workrate” matches this year and Rollins/Ambrose will be among those as excellent matches but maybe not as special or memorable years from now.

    Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena

    Tom:

Man, I’m surprised that it’s a clean sweep in our picks here but I’m going to have to go for Brock/Cena too. My anticipation for Rollins/Ambrose hurts from them not having a preceding PPV match – this is clearly a feud that’s going to burn out for a while longer so I’m expecting some sort of a fuck finish to keep things rolling along.

Meanwhile, Brock and Cena’s first match together was maybe my favourite WWE match from the last five years and I’m fascinated to see how their rematch goes and if they can capture lightning in a bottle again. I’m expecting that they’ll add some kind of no DQ stip to it because Brock’s always at his most fun when he’s out of control.

    Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena

    * Hulk Hogan recently went on a rant in FHM in regards to his daughter’s dating life and here’s what he had to say:

“I run a tight ship here, and if you want to date my daughter, Brooke, you must obey the Hulk Hogan Demandments. They’re not commandments – they’re demandments. Obey them, and you might pass the test.

First off, you have to be clean-cut. If you’re a jabroni-you know, tattoos, piercings, purple hair and all that crap-it’s not happening. Not in this lifetime.

You must be respectful. When you come over to my house, I don’t expect a present, but I do expect you to call me Mr. Hogan and that you bring your best behavior, values, and manners. If you come over, and for some reason I’m not around, stay out of my office and my gym. I don’t want my stuff messed with.

Before you take my daughter anywhere, you need to spend some quality time at our house with the family so we can get to know you. That’s also when I’ll be checking to make sure your pupils aren’t dilated and that your eyes aren’t jitterbugging all over the place-drugs and alcohol are a definite no-no.

I prefer that you’re not a wrestler. If you’re meek and mild, I can put the fear of God into you more easily.

You have to be modest. If there’s one thing I can’t stand, it’s cockiness! We had that Aaron Carter kid come by once wanting to date my daughter. He lasted about an hour in my house before I kicked him out. Brooke somehow talked me into inviting him over, and once he was here, he started putting his feet up on the furniture and going into the refrigerator without asking. Finally, I told him to hit the highway.

If I do finally allow you to take Brooke out, I demand that she’s returned home on time and that she call to check in every half-hour. I have GPS installed in her car, so I know where you’re going. I can also remotely shut her car engine down if I think something funny is going on.

Keep your hands to yourself-and that’s not even a demandment, that’s standard procedure if you want to live.

I’ve also taught Brooke how to defend herself. She’s been boxing for three years now and can throw one hell of a right cross. I’ve taught her some submission holds if somebody puts their hand in the wrong place and basic self-defense stuff like the heel stomp, the crotch shot and the thumb-in-the-eye technique. But no one has been stupid enough to disrespect Brooke like that. It would be trouble if they did: I’m not afraid of a good lawsuit.”
