    Ryback vs. Rusev

    Joey:

Ryback has improved and Rusev is a good wrestler. I just don’t care about them. I have no interest in this. The story of WWE. Big fan of Lana’s hair tbh.

    Interest Level: 1/10 (+1 for Lana’s hair)
    Prediction: Ryback wins.

    Tim:

I believe there’s a great character to be brought out of Ryback’s personality but WWE has yet to find it. He’s alright in the ring but nothing worth being excited for. Rusev is in a really weird spot right now but he’s still an entertaining in-ring performer against the right opponent. I don’t think Ryback is the guy to bring it out of him. I have no reason to care about this match.

    Interest Level: 0/10
    Prediction: Rusev wins.

    Tom:

It’s been sort of fascinating to see how they’ve handled Lana’s return. Probably for the best that they’ve gone out of their way to just whitewash the Rusev/Ziggler feud, but strange that everything’s just been reset, seemingly.

Ryback feuds are a tough deal. He’s much better than he was, but there never seems to be a point to them. I still bloody love Rusev, but the Lana situation and The League of Nations deal do make it difficult. I wish he’d just go back to not wearing shoes and being a mad old Russian bastard.

    Interest Level: 2/10
    Prediction: Ryback wins.

Survivor Series Elimination Match (Unknown participants)

    Joey:

My assumption is for a match featuring The Usos, Ryback, Cesaro and Neville vs. New Day, Barrett and Sheamus or something like that. The New Day are basically guaranteed to be in it so it’s guaranteed a fun time. I like the elimination matches and most of the wrestlers available can deliver in the ring. I don’t know the participants but I’m expecting it as the Match of the Night.

    Interest Level: 8/10
Prediction: New Days Rocks! (but loses because the faces will win this match)

    Tim:

I figure it’ll just be the most rocking mid-carders facing off in this match full of historical importance. You know the guys. People like Neville. People that are so good that WWE doesn’t know what to do with them. The true prodigies of our time. I know that it will be a blast no matter what. It’s a Survivor Series match. How could it not be mind-blowing?

    Interest Level: 10/10
Prediction: Jaw-dropping action and a raucous crowd

    Tom:

Previewing a mystery match, what the fuck are we even doing here? Good lord. Survior Series matches are okay though, I guess? Except when they’re not. Hopefully it’s Team Main Event vs. Team Superstars so we get to see the fantastic Fandango settle some scores with Heath Slater and Adam Rose on a major PPV.

    Interest Level: 8/10
Prediction: Everyone has a lovely time.

    This Or That (10/29/2015)

Everybody loves binary decisions, especially wrestling fans! In This Or That, we’ve forced ourselves to choose between two options that relate to wrestling.

Over four questions, @TimWelcomed, @JoeyOnEarth and @TomBlargh will have to choose one of two options and give their reasoning on each of their choices. You can then vote on which one you’d choose, giving you the false impression that you’re somehow involved and we care about your opinion chance to join the conversation!

Before we start, here’s the last edition‘s results:

Who would you rather see Undertaker wrestle at Wrestlemania 32?

    Sting – 53%, John Cena – 47%

    More promising NXT talent?

    Chad Gable – 61%, Apollo Crews – 39%

    Halloween?

    Yay – 72%, Nay – 38%

Who will leave Survivor Series as WWE World Champion: Seth Rollins or Roman Reigns?

Sheamus is not an acceptable answer.

    Raw_Reigns_Rollins-e1445936656540

    Joey:

This question comes down to if you believe Dean Ambrose will turn heel on Roman Reigns. That’s the only thing that can prevent the title change. I just don’t see that happening. I don’t think Ambrose is valued enough to be put in such a position of a big match. He’s more so in the Ziggler territory. This is the show I see Reigns getting his title win. It’s a softer crowd, the story is fitting, Rollins is running out of challengers. Just seems like the timing has lined up too perfectly for it to not happen here.

    Roman Reigns

    Tim:

Now might be the best time to do it when it comes to the story but I can see them waiting to make Reigns the champion on a bigger stage. At least one of the former Shield members needs to make a big change so Dean Ambrose turning heel and elongating Reigns’ chase for the title seems likely to me. At the moment this whole thing comes off unnatural and forced to me but here we are. Here’s to hoping they throw in some unexpected challenger for Rollins to wrestle while Ambrose and Reigns feud over who is the coolest guy in high school.

    Seth Rollins

    Tom:

Nice to see that we’ve all acknowledged the biggest issue as being how stale Ambrose is right now. I really, REALLY can’t stand how lame Dirty Dean is as the “unstable” face who loves cold beer and hey, where the women at?!? I’m not sure if he’ll be any more effective as a heel, but jeez, at least I’ll be supposed to hate him then.

Also, Rollins is only just coming off a Kane feud so it’d be a real shame for his run to end now. Give the boy a couple more months so he can get that behind him and lose the title with a little dignity.

Before we start, here’s last week‘s results:

More likely to leave Summerslam as WWE Champ?

    Seth Rollins – 76%, Roman Reigns – 24%

Which WWE reality show is better?

    Swerved – 73%, Tough Enough – 27%

    Best Friends – 68%, RPG Vice– 32%

Which summer movie will be worse?

    Pixels – 78%, Fantastic Four – 22%

Better choice for Wrestler of the Year: John Cena or Roderick Strong?

Who is the Wrestler of the Half Year?

    cena-strong

    Tim:

I’ve always been on the Roddy train but for the last couple of years he hasn’t delivering like we knew he could. This year has been awesome seeing him raise the bar. I can’t possibly say anyone is having the year Cena is having though. Week after week his US Open Challenge matches are the reason to watch Raw and then add the Owens feud to that and it cements his spot at the top of 2015 so far. I do wish he would talk less or talk like a normal person sometimes…

    John Cena

    Joey:

John Cena is definitely the better choice. Cena has been having superb matches on a weekly basis ever since winning the United States Championship and his matches often create a “Wrestlemania atmosphere” in having fans feel like its must see. Roderick Strong has been killing it but some of his PWG matches have been boring to a high level. Cena also was in my favorite match of the year vs. Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar so the WOTY iiiiiiiiis here.

    John Cena

    Tom:

I’m still not entirely onboard with the Roddy renaissance – he’s been very good (and he was fantastic when I saw him live at the PROGRESS Super Strong Style 16 tournament) but I haven’t seen enough of his truly great matches to consider him even in the same bracket as John Cena, who’s had some of the greatest matches of his career in the span of the last 6 months or so. It’s been really refreshing to see him compete with a more varied group of guys during his tenure as US Champ, and I hope it continues!

Seth Rollins vs. Brock Lesnar – 83%, Seth Rollins vs. Triple H – 17%

    More exciting PWG announcement?

    Akira Tozawa – 65%, Angelico – 35%

Better option to defeat Jay Briscoe for ROH title?

    Jay Lethal – 54%, Moose – 46%

    Better gift?

    Candy – 83%, Flowers – 17%

More likely to leave Summerslam as WWE Champion: Seth Rollins or Roman Reigns?

    Shield.

    rollins-reigns

    Tim:

The Reigns/Wyatt feud seems like a buffer for Reigns to me. A solid win and obstacle to hold him over until closer to Summerslam. I think Reigns is not quite as hard to watch as he used to be (although I’m still not sold on him) but I’m  not sure if it’s really his time yet. I think if they hold off on him a bit longer he’ll be accepted more as champion but it really looks like he’s going to leave Summerslam with that title to me. I would really like Rollins to hold on to it for a little while longer. Maybe grow into a more confident heel before he loses the title and goes completely face.

    Roman Reigns

    Joey:

The hot rumor is that Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns will end up being the Summerslam title match but I’m still quite skeptical about this. Reigns JUST entered a storyline with Bray Wyatt that may be most his personal singles feud so far in his career.

Will they end that in 5 weeks? I just can’t see it. Until the title change actually happens at Battleground, I think Seth Rollins is entering Summerslam as champ and has the chance to leave as champ. Either way, I’d bet on Seth because I think Reigns will be stuck with Wyatt.

    Seth Rollins

    Tom:

Hopefully WWE’s learned from the sins of Wrestlemania and they’ll give the Roman Reigns Rehabilitation Project a little more time – just from a character perspective, he’s far more tolerable now but I still think he needs more time to  not be completely rejected as champion. Rollins’ run as champ has been kind of a mess, but I’d like to see him retain for a while longer and evolve from being a cowardly jerk to become… well, I dunno, a different kind of jerk.

Curtis Axel and Macho Mandow vs. The Ascension on the pre-show

    Joey:

Cosplay Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage vs. Cosplay Road Warriors. What a time to be a wrestling fan. There’s usually a pre-show match worth checking out. This doesn’t seem like one of them.

    Interest Level: 0/10
Prediction: Curtis Axel and Damien Sandow win.

    Tim:

Get a load of this. The amount of gimmickry in this match is reaching dangerous levels. Sandow is back to impersonating and I’m back to not caring. I don’t expect this to be a hot warm-up for the show.

    Interest Level: 0/10
Prediction: Curtis Axel and Damien Sandow win.

    Tom:

Poor old Sandow. Poor old Axel, for that matter. Both of them deserve better. Maybe The Road Warriors: Fury Road will fall over or pee their pants or something and this’ll be worthwhile.

    Interest Level: X/10
Prediction: Curtis Axel and Damien Sandow win.

    Ryback vs. Bray Wyatt

    Joey:

I’ve been watching RAW for the most part and I have ZERO memory of any interactions between Bray Wyatt and Ryback. On the bright side, this match is like a Super Bowl of guys to become completely irrelevant after feuding with Chris Jericho. Maybe Fandango will be the referee?

    Interest Level: 0/10
    Prediction: Bray Wyatt wins

    Tim:

Bray Wyatt had another vague bone to pick with someone so here we are stuck with this match-up. I don’t care about either guy and I am almost certain this won’t be anything to write home about but I’m curious as to what this match will even be like. What’s the chemistry here? Will this end in a handshake and The Nexus getting back together?

    Interest Level: 3/10
    Prediction: Bray Wyatt wins.

    Tom:

Such a weird match-up that I’m almost sort of interested? Except for the fact that this is one of the many things that feels like it should be on an episode of Raw. I can’t remember why they’re feuding, I assume it’s the same reason why Bray feuds with anyone (i.e. FUCK KNOWS, HE JUST NEEDS SOMETHING TO DO, NEW FACE OF FEAR ETC.)

    Interest Level: 4/10
    Prediction: Bray Wyatt wins.

Should John Cena bring back the “spinner” United States title?

    No – 63%, Yes – 37%

    Current better non-wrestler?

    Dario Cueto – 52%, Paul Heyman – 48%

    More likely to breakthrough?

    Damien Sandow 59%, Fandango – 41%

Which Marvel film are you more excited to see?

    The Avengers: Age of Ultron – 73%, Ant-Man – 27%

Will Roman Reigns win the WWE Championship in 2015: Yes or No?

Will The Roman Empire take over this year?

    reignschamp

    Tim:

I don’t think WWE has really changed their minds on him outside of giving him a little more time to develop. I’m still not into him but I know a lot of people have changed their minds and would probably welcome it. As of right now I still think him being the face of the company seems like a really boring path for us to be on for the next few years.

He’s been put in some good spots such as being Brock’s punching bag and getting to break tables with The Big Show. I think he’ll be champ by the end of the year for sure. I can’t help but think about how over someone would be if they had tried as hard with someone people already like and was ready for the position.

    Yes

    Joey:

If I had to predict, I think WWE is hoping to make Roman Reigns WWE Champion at Wrestlemania 32. You can tell WWE wants Reigns to be “the next guy” to take John Cena’s place and they are being careful in how they present him following the backlash after his Royal Rumble win. I think the plan is to have him win over the fans by chasing the title and falling short a few times before ultimately winning the championship at WM 32. My early guess would be Reigns defeating Cena for the title next year.

    No

    Tom:

Old Vinny Mac always ends up getting his way so I’m sure we’ll see The Powerhouse with the straps eventually. Not sure if it’ll be this year though – The Fed seems set on having title reigns go a little longer and I’d be surprised to see Rollins lose it before the year is out.

    No

Hi. I have a lot of thoughts about wrestling. I decided to start a concept where I talk about what’s on my mind every weekend. I hope it’s enjoyable.

    Wrestlemania

Wow was I wrong about Wrestlemania 31. I had very low expectations for the show but it completely over-delivered. The entire show entertained me from top to bottom with every match having something that entertained me to some extent. If I were to rank the show after watching it just twice, I’d say it’s only behind 17, 19, 30 and maybe 24 among the best overall Wrestlemania shows of all time.

Cesaro and Tyson Kidd vs. The Usos vs. The New Day vs. Los Matadores for the WWE Tag Team Championship on the pre-show

    Joey:

Cesaro and utility player wrestler with manager vs. The Usos vs. Los Matadores returning to PPV after being non-existent for months vs. a team you won’t remember in a year from now on the pre-show for the tag team titles. Shades of last year. Except less hope for Cesaro. The match should be fine if the Usos are healthy.

    Interest Level: 6/10
Prediction: Cesaro and Tyson Kidd win.

    Tim:

Oh damn. It’s time for The T Man to dish out some very self-indulgent hot takes! This should be a good match but it will feel hollow as most WWE tag team matches do. The typical stuff. It’ll be solid. It’ll have some spots we’ve seen a million times before. Cesaro and Tyson Kidd would be a great tag team if being a tag team meant anything in WWE besides “filler.” The Usos are fantastic but we’ve seen them wrestle every combination of these teams so many times. Los Matadores have a horrible gimmick and haven’t really done much lately. I feel awful for The New Day. This is the most pre-show pre-show match you could imagine for Wrestlemania. I think Cesaro and Kidd win here. I’m sure they’ll eventually bring prestige to these belts once and for all if they hold them long enough!

    Interest Level: 5/10
Prediction: Cesaro and Tyson Kidd win.

    Deathlock:

This will be fun and get us jazzed for the show. It’ll be fine!

Interest Level: 6/10 Strong Style Interest Points™
Prediction: CATS, FACTS, AND MINORU SUZUKI COSPLAY FOR THE WIN.

    Tom:

It’ll be good, y’know? Y’KNOW? Yeah, you know.

    Interest Level: 5/10
Prediction: Cesaro and Tyson Kidd win.

Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal on the pre-show

    Joey:

Does anyone in the world care about this? Noteworthy predictions: Curtis Axel will be eliminated first. Big Show and Kane will double eliminate each other. Sandow will eliminate Miz. Sheamus returns and wins.

    Interest Level: 2/10
    Prediction: Sheamus wins.

    Tim:

A ring full of dorks, Sandow, and an NXT guy. GOOD STUFF. Showcase of The Immortals and all of that jazz, ya know? Best case scenario, it ends up with just Sandow and Miz left in the ring leading to Sandow throwing Miz out. Most probable scenario, Sheamus returns and wins.

    Interest Level: 3/10
    Prediction: Sheamus wins.

    Deathlock:

Hi, I dunno who’s in this match at all. Is this the part where I tell you that If I ran the WWE, Damien Sandow would be on a record-breaking title run right now?

    Interest Level: 5/10
    Prediction: Damien Sandow?

    Tom:

If they have Sheamus return to win a pre-show battle royal then el oh fucking el, welcome to the Reality Era, fella. I look forward to seeing how the enormous trophy is destroyed.

    Interest Level: 6/10
    Prediction: Mizdow wins.

AJ Lee and Paige vs. The Bella Twins

    Joey:

The four noteworthy divas in the company will have a chance this year. This is probably the best divas match option they could have went with to be honest. I think it will be one of the better matches on the show – not sure if that says more about this match or the full card.

    Interest Level: 6/10
    Prediction: AJ and Paige wins.

    Tim:

I still believe AJ is the best female wrestler in WWE. Paige is wonderful but I still don’t think she’s close to hitting her stride on the main roster and that’s not entirely her fault. Nikki Bella has grown a lot as a personality and a wrestler but I still don’t think she is that wonderful. Brie Bella is Brie Bella. I’ve seen potential in her a lot here and there but it’s a one step forward, two steps back kind of thing with her. Popularity-wise this is definitely the four WWE should showcase at the biggest show of the year. Will it be the best divas match WWE could put on? No way. There’s definitely a chance these four could do something entertaining though.

    Interest Level: 5/10
    Prediction: AJ and Paige win.

    Deathlock:

Thirty seconds, probably humiliating. It might even just get cut from the show so Triple H’s entrance can go longer.

Interest Level: -10/10 regular points, 10/10 Strong Style Interest Points™ for Nikki Bella’s elbow.
    Prediction: We all lose.

    Tom:

“Fearless” Nicole Bella is here to show all you candyasses that girls are doing it for themselves! Holla at your girl! I don’t know, I’m sick of seeing all of these girls compete in various different combinations. It’s all we’ve seen in PPV Divas matches for the last year and I want some variety.

    Interest Level: 3/10
Prediction: April Jeanette “Ape” Lee-Mendez-Punker-Brooks and Paige win.

Top 10 Potential Wrestlemania Chants During Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar

Let’s face it. It’s going to get ugly.

    wm

If Royal Rumble was bad, imagine 50,000 fans with a large portion of the attendees being diehard wrestling fans traveling from all around the world. The best case for the WWE is that the acoustics in the building are off or it’s hard to get chants heard on TV in such a large stadium. There’s no scenario in which the fans at Wrestlemania 31 accept this match without attempts to “hijack” the show and entertain themselves, especially if Brock Lesnar is leaving the WWE following this match and it leaks.

I wanted to find a way to make a game out of this to find some form of entertainment for myself when watching Wrestlemania. I’m not sure if there’s one I can make out of it aside from the tired cliche of a shot game but here’s the 10 most interesting possible chants.

    1. Daniel Bryan

The obvious and most likely chant. A large portion of WWE fans don’t want to quit on the Daniel Bryan dreams no matter how many times WWE tries to erase him from relevancy as a Wyatt lackey or an opening match ladder climber. With the way Royal Rumble went, fans are more prone to being self aware and knowing what makes TV. I can see a scenario where there’s one 20 minute long “Daniel Bryan” chant throughout the entire match.

    2. CM Punk

The opposite road to the Daniel Bryan chant. If the show is ugly before the main event, fans may be in a more bitter mood and a chant that would be more hostile than “Daniel Bryan” is the never forgotten “CM Punk.” No word yet on if WWE will sue Colt Cabana for the Punk chants.

Conversely, this may be the time the trolling fans get an AJ Lee chant going as a humorous turn from all the times CM Punk was chanted during her matches.
