Wrestling On Earth’s ROH Coloring Book Competition: Round 4 – Dalton Castle

If there’s three things the Wrestling On Earth crew loves, it’s wrestling, coloring and spirited competition, so LET THE GAMES BEGIN.

Tim (@TimWelcomed), Joey (@JoeyOnEarth), Tom (@TomBlargh) and Shelly (@ShellyDeathlock) all chose a page from the ROH Coloring Book (created by the wonderful @punkrockbgmouth) to color, making for four pages in total. There was some arguing about what kind of tools and materials we were allowed to use, but in the end, we decided that everyone could choose between pencils or crayons (though Tom ended up being the only one to choose crayons and he’s pretty salty about it, but whatever).

We featured a new page colored by each participant every day – this is the fourth and final day, so you can see the previous efforts here:

    • Round 1: Kevin Kelly and Steve Corino
    • Round 2: The Young Bucks
    • Round 3: The Briscoes

LET’S GET COLORING (AND LOOK, YOU CAN ALSO VOTE ON WHO YOU THINK SHOULD BE THE WINNER AT THE END!)

    Round 4: Dalton Castle

LIVE ROH RESULTS: Michael Bennett’s Bachelor Party Hosted by Adam Cole

That’s right. We’ve entered the live results game. You’ve been served, wrestling community.

Live from beautiful Chicago at a dirty bar. Keep refreshing for updates.

    roh

    The Kingdom start the show

Adam Cole looks extra cute in a party hat. The Kingdom will be ringside during every match.

reDRagon defeated Jay Lethal and Truth Martini

Truth Martini hit a Canadian Destroyer. Bobby Fish apparently lost the little ponytail thing he was going for. Still very handsome. Kyle O’Reilly did some cool things and the champs retain.

Veda Scott, Miss Natural and Leah Von Dutch defeated Scarlett, Taeler Hendrix and Mary Dobson

Matt Taven threw dollar bills at the ring but his aim was really bad that you could tell everyone felt awkward.  Romantic Touch is doing pervert things. Veda pinned Scarlett.

    Roderick Strong defeated Mark Briscoe

Seven Things: 7 Takeaways From The ROH/NJPW Shows

Welcome to Seven Things, a list that will run weekly and consist of very eclectic topics. These are of my opinions and doesn’t express the views of others on WrestlingOnEarth.

Let’s take a look at some things I took away from the ROH/NJPW joint shows in Canada and New York.

Reminder: If you have any suggestions for future lists, feel free to share them in the comments or send them to me on Twitter: @JoeySplashwater.

    7. Tag team wrestling is alive and well.

    ROH71

The two shows gave you so many great tag teams led by The Young Bucks having arguably the best match on each show. reDRagon cemented themselves as one of and in my opinion, the best tag team in wrestling right now. Another one of my favorites The Time Splitters (Alex Shelley and KUSHIDA) made their ROH debut and looked fantastic. The Briscoes, Bullet Club and Forever Hooligans also made their presences felt and are in the top tier of tag teams right now.

The Marvel spoof post show credits scene after War of the Worlds saw Christopher Daniels announce his return to Ring of Honor with Kazarian so another top tier tag team is freed from the shackles of TNA and should make for some interesting matches. For those who love tag team wrestling, the genre of wrestling is alive as can be right now. If The Young Bucks and Bad Influence can be on shows consistently enough and the team of Hanson & Rowe mature, this could be the best tag team roster ROH has had since 2008.

House of Glory vs. Ring of Honor Pics

This past weekend, Manhattan Mayhem V wasn’t the only place to see Ring of Honor wrestlers in New York, with a few top stars also appearing at Amazing Red’s House of Glory promotion in what was billed as an ‘ROH invasion’.

Our own personal Jimmy Olsen, Khristen Wilson was in attendance – find him on Twitter @khristheunicorn and check out some of his great pics below.

Adam Cole, Michael Elgin and Roderick Strong

Adam Cole (@AdamColePro), Michael Elgin (@ROHMichaelElgin) and Roderick Strong (@roderickstrong).

ROH All Star Extravaganza V Preview

One of the best Ring of Honor cards in recent memory, I can’t wait to see this show when it becomes available onDemand. It’s a shame ROH couldn’t figure out how to solve their iPPV problems because this could very well have been among their most viewed events.

Stacked from top to bottom with incredible and eclectic outside talent, I’m expecting a show of the year candidate.

    ROHALLstar

Forever Hooligans vs. The American Wolves:

Should be fantastic. Davey Richards and Rocky Romero in No Remorse Corps were one of my favorite ROH tag teams so it will be cool seeing these two interact. Two of the best tag teams in the world facing off can’t not produce good results.

With the reDRagon rematch already booked for NYC and the Wolves lack of ROH contract security, I can’t see another tag title change happening this weekend.

    Interest Level: 7/10
    Prediction: Forever Hooligans win.

    Kevin Steen vs. Brian Kendrick:

Like I mentioned in my ROH Title Tournament preview, I’m very fond of Brian Kendrick’s recent work so I have high expectations for this match. With the lack of matches announced for the NYC show in just two weeks, I’m hoping great performances from guys like Kendrick, Paul London, Kushida and the Young Bucks will lead to announcements of them all being booked for Manhattan Mayhem. I can only dream. This match should all sorts of wonderful, especially in front of that Canadian crowd.

    Interest Level: 9/10
Prediction: Kevin Steen wins. Continue reading →

4 ON 4 Fans: Ring Of Honor (podjohnnyringo, BenTurpen, BigRat, typicaROHfan)

Welcome to this week’s edition of Four on Four. We have a Ring of Honor theme – Hooray! As always, we’ve chosen four of the most entertaining and intelligent wrestling fans on Twitter and decided to peer into their minds four questions at a time. Now let’s meet the panel:

Mark Smith: Known as podjohnnyringo to most. Kevin Steen put him over on a SmartMarkVideo shoot. Needs to know if you wore JNCO’s. Wants Steve Blackman in Evolve!
You can find podcasts with him on Free Admission and follow his Twitter.

Ben Turpen: Atlanta’s #1 sports fan. Kevin Steen also put him over on a SmartMarkVideo shoot. Dubbed “Ben Truthpen” by Brad Ward.
He podcasts/writes/runs Free Admission (our fav site!) and be sure to follow his Twitter.

BigRat310: Miami’s #1 sports fan. Rival of TNA X Division champion Manik. Confirmed Chipotle enthusiast.
Subscribe to his YouTube channel and follow his Twitter.

typicalROHfan: Known in some circles as Jonas Wakefield. (Wrestling on) Earth inhabitant.

    ROH World Title Tournament Preview

    rohbrackets-new

When reading about Ring of Honor quitting on live iPPVs, Jay Briscoe leaving and a new champion not being crowned until late September, it felt as if ROH was on a major downswing. The long tournament seemed like a terrible idea under the assumption it would just be the normal guys on the roster. However, with the names being announced, my stance changed drastically.

The combination of the influx of new guys, returning talent and many members of the current roster having something important to prove has gotten me really excited to see how this tournament unfolds.

Let’s take a look at all of the participants and their chances of winning, what they have to prove and what overall fun each provides:

    Michael Elgin:

Easily the favorite. Winning a big tournament, defeating some bigger names and having awesome matches gives him the best road to the title. Personally I thought it would have been a bad call to go with him beating Jay for the title as I couldn’t see that creating a big  enough moment for the title change. This tournament gives an opportunity to add what that outcome would have lacked.

If I’m predicting, I definitely go with the chalk and expect Elgin to win. Even if he doesn’t, he always has great matches with great wrestlers and that won’t change. Continue reading →
