    This Or That (1/27/2015)

Everybody loves binary decisions, especially wrestling fans! In This Or That, we’ve forced ourselves to choose between two options that relate to wrestling.

Over four questions, @TimWelcomed, @JoeySplashwater and @TomBlargh will have to choose one of two options and give their reasoning on each of their choices. You can then vote on which one you’d choose, giving you the false impression that you’re somehow involved and we care about your opinion chance to join the conversation!

Before we start, here’s last week‘s results:

More likely to have a great match at Wrestlemania 31?

    Sting – 81%, Roman Reigns – 19%

    Better Royal Rumble moment?

    John Cena’s surprise return win at #30 – 56%, Shawn Michaels winning as #1 entrant – 44%

    Better wacky Royal Rumble moment?

    Maven eliminating Undertaker – 89%, Drew Carey’s Rumble appearance – 11%

    Better ice cream flavor?

    Vanilla – 62%, Chocolate – 38%

Better match: Nakamura vs. Ibushi at Wrestle Kingdom or Lesnar vs. Rollins vs. Cena at Royal Rumble?

Which early 2015 MOTY candidate was better?

    shinsuke-seth

    Tim:

Both were great and I hate having to pick one. Lesnar vs Rollins vs Cena had me on edge. It was Rollins bringing out his best and showing he was a true star. It was Brock Lesnar showing that he is a monster and at the top of his game  it was… eh, well Cena was being Cena but that’s fine as the other two brought their absolute best. It was a near perfect storm.

Nakamura vs Ibushi had incredible atmosphere. Two wrestlers with great chemistry went in with all they could muster and out on a spectacle on NJPW’s biggest stage. One of the best matches I’ve ever seen but I don’t think that eclipses the storytelling of WWE’s Beast vs Whiny Heel vs Hero. It’s just good stuff all around on both fronts.

Lesnar vs Rollins vs Cena at Royal Rumble

    Joey:

This is the toughest question in the history of This Or That for me. I believe both of these matches were worlds better than anything in 2013 and 2014 so 2015 has already given us some treats.

My main memory of Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Kota Ibushi is watching with wide eyes at 5AM EST in absolute awe of what was happening causing my adrenaline to keep me up. My main memory of Seth Rollins vs. Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena was jumping out of my chair when Rollins nailed Lesnar with the briefcase setting up what was great false hope he’d win the title.

Those moments both represent everything pro wrestling should be about. Maybe it’s due to being more familiar with the American style/atmosphere but I’m going to lean towards the triple threat. Seth Rollins is someone I’ve believed in since the first day I saw a match of his almost a decade ago and seeing his star making performance just meant more to me. Emotional connections are a part of wrestling so due to that, I must select the WWE match.

Lesnar vs. Rollins vs. Cena at Royal Rumble

    Tom:

    TRAITORS! STRONG STYLE TRAITORS!

Nakamura vs. Ibushi at Wrestle Kingdom

    Better match?

    • Nakamura vs. Ibushi at Wrestle Kingdom (51%, 45 Votes)
    • Lesnar vs. Rollins vs. Cena at Royal Rumble (49%, 43 Votes)

    Total Voters: 88

    This Or That (4/29/2014)

Everybody loves binary decisions, especially wrestling fans! In This Or That, we’ve forced ourselves to choose between two options that relate to wrestling.

Over four questions, @TimWelcomed, @JoeySplashwater and @TomBlackett will have to choose one of two options and give their reasoning on each of their choices. You can then vote on which one you’d choose, giving you the false impression that you’re somehow involved and we care about your opinion chance to join the conversation!

Before we start, here’s last week‘s results:

    More likely to succeed?

    Bo Dallas – 52%, Adam Rose– 48%

    Better WWE reality show?

    Total Divas – 71%, Legends’ House – 29%

Who do you side with in their Twitter war?

    Kevin Nash – 55%, Roddy Piper – 45%

    Better season?

    Spring – 57%, Summer – 43%

Which push are you looking forward to more: Cesaro or Bad News Barrett?

Submitted by @WrestlingFanRJ, which rising star are you more excited about?

    cesaro-barrett

    Tim:

I haven’t really cared for Wade Barrett since the very early parts of the Nexus. I don’t think he’s a bad wrestler or anything but I don’t think he’s ever been given a good gimmick and I just do not have any reason to look at him for my entertainment. I really can’t stand the Bad News thing and it’s made him look like an even bigger joke until the last few weeks where they’ve started pushing him. It seems to be working for a lot of people.

Cesaro has made whatever is given to him work. He hasn’t had super horrible gimmicks (I don’t remember him yodeling. Show me videos and I still will not remember it). but still, he gets over by embracing what he’s given and being a beast in the ring. I am looking forward to the rise of Cesaro way more for a few reasons. He almost always has good matches. Nearly every match he participates in has at least one moment you will remember. He has a great mouthpiece in Paul Heyman.

I think this is a sink or swim time for Barrett but I just don’t find myself to enthralled at this point no matter how hard I try to get into it. Cesaro keeps my attention and seems to be heading in a direction that will continue to keep me watching him with anticipating eyes. It’s not entirely Barrett’s fault that I don’t care but he does seem awfully “mid-card bland” no matter what position he is in. I will say I’ve thought about these two as a tag team before. I could definitely get behind that farther down the road.

    Cesaro

    Joey:

Most consider me to be a Wade Barrett hater and I’m definitely not a fan but even I have to admit the Bad News Barrett gimmick is taking off more than any of his MANY other pushes did. That being said, I’ve got some bad news for Bad News. Cesaro is better.

Becoming one of the most exciting things in wrestling, I am excited to see what happens with Cesaro. Now with Paul Heyman being his manager, it adds even more interesting layers to his future. Even if it doesn’t work out as well as I hope, Cesaro is just more entertaining in the ring and as a personality so of course, my answer is Cesaro.

    Cesaro

    Tom:

As a European, it delights me to see two of my… well, not countrymen, so continentmen? That doesn’t sound right at all. Anyway, it’s fun to see these guys with wacky old accents featured in such a prominent role right now. I’ve never cared too much either way for old Wade Barrett, but I’ll admit to enjoying some of his recent segments. They do seem to have toned him down quite a bit since he’s started wrestling again though, so I just hope they don’t go too far and remove any trace elements of fun in an effort to make him come off as a Serious Competitor.

Cesaro’s a favourite and I’m really excited to see how his path continues, but… well, he’s going to be okay regardless, y’know? He’s just REALLY good and no amount of Swagger tagging or yodeling is going to keep him down, whereas I think this might be old Barrett’s last chance. So, just for the sake of some variety, I’ll go with Bad News Barrett.

    Bad News Barrett

Seven Things: 7 Weirdest Wrestling Rumors

Welcome to Seven Things, a list that will run weekly and consist of very eclectic topics. These are of my opinions and doesn’t express the views of others on WrestlingOnEarth.

Two of the most synonymous things with pro wrestling are gossip and weirdness. The tabloid like coverage wrestling is met with on hundreds of websites referred to by some as “dirt sheets” and with that territory comes many fake stories. Wrestling rumors catch on and spread through wrestling fans like wildfire in a forest. Some are real, some are fake and some are never discovered. Add in how weird the world of wrestling is in general and you have a recipe for greatness. Here are my Seven Weirdest Wrestling Rumors.

Reminder: If you have any suggestions for future lists, feel free to share them in the comments or send them to me on Twitter: @typicalROHfan.

    7. Sid puts a squirrel down his pants

    weird1

As most people familiar with my wrestling fandom know, I love Sid. I get why most people dislike him and would assume I dislike him even more, but for whatever reason I just love the dude’s matches. Less known is my love for squirrels. I once had an unofficial pet squirrel that would come to my fire escape every day after school and I’d feed it peanuts. It once came into my room and jumped on my dresser to find the nuts on a day I forgot then politely jumped back out of the window. Enough about the weird history of loved things in my life as this is a case of two loves not always working out.

Sid apparently had a pet squirrel he would take to many shows with him. The rumor goes that a few wrestlers bet Sid that he wouldn’t be able to put the squirrel down his pants for a full minute. Being the man’s man that he is, Sid accepted the challenge. 30 seconds into the wager, the squirrel “bit a very sensitive area” and Sid had to go to the hospital.

    Sid. Enough said.

BONUS WEIRD SID RUMOR: Legend has it that Sid literally pooped in his trunks during the main event of Wrestlemania 13.
