    This Or That (6/17/2015)

Everybody loves binary decisions, especially wrestling fans! In This Or That, we’ve forced ourselves to choose between two options that relate to wrestling.

Over four questions, @TimWelcomed, @JoeySplashwater and @TomBlargh will have to choose one of two options and give their reasoning on each of their choices. You can then vote on which one you’d choose, giving you the false impression that you’re somehow involved and we care about your opinion chance to join the conversation!

Before we start, here’s last week‘s results:

    Who do you side with?

    Hulk Hogan – 62%, CM Punk – 38%

    Who scares you most?

    Scott Steiner – 61%, Brock Lesnar – 39%

    Bigger scumbag?

    Vince Russo – 77%, Eric Bischoff – 23%

    Better McDonalds meal?

    20 piece McNuggets – 52%, Big Mac w/ fries – 48%

Which would you rather main event Summerslam: Seth Rollins vs. Brock Lesnar or Seth Rollins vs. Triple H?

    Rollins/Lesnar rematch or Rollins/H war.

    rollins

    Tim:

I wouldn’t mind either. Both are set up pretty well but I think I lean more towards Lesnar/Rollins mostly because I can’t think of any other Lesnar match that is in the realm of possibility that I would want to see. It would be another fun “Lesnar beats on a smaller guy” match and would lead into the Triple H/Rollins match better. Rollins could work in some fun high spots with Lesnar. Lesnar hasn’t wrestled anyone during this run with that kind of agility. I think it’s definitely time to turn Rollins face even though he’s beeen such a great weasel.

    Seth Rollins vs. Brock Lesnar

    Joey:

I was very adamant about wanting Brock Lesnar vs. Seth Rollins at Summerslam since I’ll be attending the show but I’ve become accepting of Rollins vs. Triple H. Over the last year, I’ve enjoyed Hunter’s rare matches and I badly miss babyface Seth Rollins. Without The Authority, we’d get to see Rollins go back to his most exciting in ring style and the match against heel god Triple H should provide fun stuff.

    Seth Rollins vs. Triple H

    Tom:

I’m going to Summerslam live (and ended up paying more than I’m necessarily comfortable with for a ticke)t, so this is a pretty important question to me. Rollins vs. Brock was the match I was hoping for because it’s something fairly fresh and the spectacle of seeing Brock toss a smaller guy around would be pretty fantastic. Also, it’s the safe option – if we don’t get Rollins / Brock, then who DO we get facing Lesnar? Reigns? Cena again? The dream option would be Kevin Owens, though I’m not sure how feasible that necessarily is.

I’ve warmed up to the idea of Rollins / Triple H a little, though I have to assume Rollins is going to stay heel for the time being and Triple H will just play up the “NXT Dad” aspect of his personality a little more to be someone to bother cheering for. I’m sure they could have a fun match, but I’d much rather see Seth take on Brock, especially not knowing who the alternative would be.

    Seth Rollins vs. Brock Lesnar

Which would you rather main event Summerslam?

    • Seth Rollins vs. Triple H (16%, 9 Votes)

    This Or That (5/21/2015)

You can then vote on which one you’d choose, giving you the false impression that you’re somehow involved and we care about your opinion chance to join the conversation!

Before we start, here’s last week‘s results:

More likely to wrestle a match at Wrestlemania 31?

    Hulk Hogan – 67%, Ronda Rousey – 33%

More likely to become WWE champion again?

    Sheamus – 83%, The Miz – 17%

    Better anti-American wrestler?

    Lance Storm – 59%, Rusev – 41%

    Better game?

    Air hockey – 68%, Foosball – 32%

Which Kevin Owens match will be better: Samoa Joe or John Cena?

Both will be great but which do you think will turn out the better overall match.

    joe-cena

    Tim:

The fact that both of these matches are happening is just wild to me. I’m so excited for both of them. Samoa Joe is the perfect challenger for Owens in NXT right now because it doesn’t seem like anyone else can bring him down. The first meeting between Owens and Joe in NXT was impactful just as it was with Owens meeting Cena for the first time on Raw.

Cena vs Owens has a lot going for it though. It’s Owens first main roster match and it’s on a WWE PPV against the biggest name in the company. When Cena has an opponent like Owens he always rises to the occasion and seems way more motivated. I always thought there wouldn’t be a better anti-Cena than CM Punk but the more I think about it the more I realize that the Kevin Owens character is the natural fit. I’d love a rivalry between these two to last for years.

    John Cena

    Joey:

John Cena vs. former ROH/PWG wrestlers tends to be instant magic. CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Cesaro, Luke Harper, Seth Rollins and a few others have had some of their best WWE matches vs. Cena because he knows how to adapt perfectly and the chemistry is always there.

With someone as precise in storytelling as Kevin Owens is, he could have a chance at being one of Cena’s best opponents. I’m thinking it will be a special match we remember years from now.

    John Cena

    Tom:

Good lord, what a question. The Owens / Cena PPV match is the most exciting PPV match for ages. It feels unreal that it’s happening but… well, so does Joe/Owens in NXT. I’m fascinated to see how Joe performs as an official WWE superstar but hearing the rumours about his contract being a limited deal kind of spoils things. He might have great matches, but it seems unlikely that he’ll ever be elevated past the NXT level.

On the other hand, Owens / Cena could be something else entirely. The two seem like they could be a natural fit and Cena seems to relish the idea of having a new foe who can deliver on the mic and in the ring. I’m fascinated to not only see how their match plays out, but also what kind of signals it sends for Owens’ future on the main roster.

    John Cena

    • Samoa Joe (16%, 8 Votes)

Before we start, here’s last week‘s results:

Which match would excite you more?

Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins Hell In A Cell – 51%, Sami Zayn vs. Adrian Neville Ladder Match – 49%

More likely to be a future WWE World champ?

    Bray Wyatt – 53%, Rusev – 47%

Which wrestling related service would you rather get?

    TweetSecret – 89%, Vince Russo’s VIP – 11%

    Better PBS show?

    Sesame Street – 54%, Arthur – 46%

Which new wrestling program are you more likely to watch: British Bootcamp 2 or Lucha Underground?

Two new wrestling shows debuting in the same week. Is this 1999?!

    bbc-lucha

    Tim:

I’m really excited about checking out Lucha Underground. I used to watch AAA when I could but I could never figure out what was going on and it seemed like it was edited weird. This has the possibility of being something pretty fresh and different. That’s something wrestling desperately needs. Hopefully it’s not doomed from the get-go and people go into it with and open mind. I mean… It’ll probably end up being shit. That’s how this usually goes but I’m going to try it.

As for British Boot Camp 2… The first one was okay. It’s a great idea for a show. This one has the best of TNA involved (outside of Al Snow) but I really have no attachment to the TNA product anymore. The “TNA” name is so damaged that I have trouble caring about anything they do, even this show which should actually be watchable and maybe even highly enjoyable.

    Lucha Underground

    Joey:

When it comes to TNA, I’m more prone to trust productions by Jeremy Borash so I do believe British Bootcamp 2 will be decent. Samoa Joe, Gail Kim and Rockstar Spud should add some interesting aspects as well but honestly, fuck Al Snow. He’s a less respected version of Jim Ross when it comes to being grumpy and close minded about different styles of wrestling so expect lots of elitist Al comments.

Lucha Underground is something I’m very hopeful for as I’ve started to read more about it. I want to see how a wrestling show works when structured in the form of a season. This is going to be the first time I watch a lucha-based wrestling show and the American talent provide a nice middle ground to try it out.  I’m also looking forward to seeing Ricochet and John Morrison in a setting completely different than where I’m used to watching them.

I was slightly on the fence but then I found out Drake Bell is a part of the project AND Brad Ward was told by Big Dick Johnson that it would be good. How can you top that?

    Lucha Underground

    Tom:

I really enjoyed the first British Bootcamp – there was a pretty heavy dose of the usual reality TV nonsense mixed into it, but it was really well put together and it was fun to see a spotlight put on the British indy scene. Series 2 can only be better, since Gail Kim, Samoa Joe and Jeremy Borash are three of the most likeable personalities in wrestling and should be enough to counterbalance that creepy old fuck with terrible opinions about modern wrestling, Al Snow. Also, with some guaranteed Grado time, it’s sure to have some funny moments.

I know very little about Lucha Underground aside from the fact that it’ll have John Morrison and Matt Striker involved to some extent. Thanks but no thanks.

PWG BOLA 2014 Preview and Predictions

PWG BOLA featuring just about all the best indie wrestlers in the world. What do we think about it?

Giving their thoughts and predictions on what to expect from the PPV are members of the site @JoeySplashwater, @TimWelcomed and @TomBlargh.

We will be breaking down the listed matches and our predictions for the final four.

    pwg

    Brian Cage vs. Bobby Fish

    Joey:

Bobby Fish is one of my favorites and I’m hoping he does well in PWG. Not the typical PWG guy (doesn’t do flips and dives – YEAH, I SAID IT!) but I think he’ll have a standout performance.

    Interest Level: 7/10
    Prediction: Brian Cage wins.

    Tim:

I’m glad Bobby Fish is in PWG. He is going to upset PWG mainstay Brian Cage simply because I do not care for Brian Cage these days. That’s how booking predictions work now. Should be an interesting match-up!

    Interest Level: 6/10
    Prediction: Bobby Fish wins.

    Tom:

ALRIGHT, THERE’S A FUCKING SHITLOAD OF MATCHES SO LET’S GET THROUGH THESE. Brian Cage is a big strong dude! Bobby Fish is a fucking hipster! It’s a match made in heaven.

    Interest Level: 7/10
    Prediction: Brian Cage wins.

    Cedric Alexander vs. Trevor Lee

    Joey:

Both guys are the top breakout stars on the indie wrestling scene this year. I think PWG is going to push Trevor Lee to the moon, especially with him being “PWG made” in the grand scheme of indie wrestling, not having a presence in ROH or DGUSA.

    Interest Level: 8/10
    Prediction: Trevor Lee wins.

    Tim:

Trevor Lee is pretty great and I think PWG is getting behind him as a featured player. Cedric Alexander is still growing and is already an exquisite pro wrestler. I’m heavily looking forward to this one.

    Interest Level: 8/10
    Prediction: Trevor Lee wins.

    Tom:

I’m a bit behind in my PWG so I’ve only seen a little Trevor Lee so far. it definitely seems like he’s being positioned to be a big deal, given he was the recipient of Steen’s last match, but who knows, man. Who knows.

    Interest Level: 7/10
    Prediction: Trevor Lee wins.

    Biff Busick vs. Roderick Strong

    Joey:

I like Biff Busick but have wanted to see more of him in promotions I watch regularly so this makes me happy. Not a huge fan of Roderick Strong’s singles matches but this is a pairing I’m interested in.

    Interest Level: 7/10
    Prediction: Roderick Strong wins.

    Tim:

Buff Busick is a favorite of mine and have been wanting to see him in PWG for quite some time. I don’t really have a problem with him wrestling Strong because their styles will match up well. There could’ve been a more interesting pick for his match.  Hopefully he’ll get to stick around because there are some very interesting match-ups for him in PWG.

    Interest Level: 7/10
    Prediction: Roderick Strong wins.

    Tom:

*whispers* Hey, I haven’t seen any Biff Busick matches! Don’t tell no-one! Anyway, without the benefit of knowing what ol’ Biff’s deal is, this is just a Roddy match to me and it’s therefore impossible to be too excited. SORRY DUDES AND ALSO BIFF! I HOPE I END UP LIKING YOU A BUNCH!

    Interest Level: 5/10
    Prediction: Roddy wins

Before we start, here’s last week‘s results:

Who would you rather see face Brock Lesnar at WM 31?

    Roman Reigns – 55%, The Rock – 45%

Which beloved fan favorite will be more loved next year?

    Dean Ambrose – 91%, Bray Wyatt – 9%

Which push do you hope this is the end of more?

    Jack Swagger – 52%, The Miz – 48%

    Better side dish?

    French fries – 67%, Mac and cheese – 33%

Which return would get you more excited about Wrestlemania 31: CM Punk or Steve Austin?

Which retired popular wrestler would you rather see back at Wrestlemania 31?

    punk-austin

    Tim:

I’m totally down with one last Steve Austin match but I’d prefer to see CM Punk come back. He’s really pretty good at this wrestling thing and I think his return would be an awesome sight to behold. There are a lot of interesting ways they could go with why he left. Austin would most likely give us one match while I could see Punk doing a limited run and giving us some good to great matches.

    CM Punk

    Joey:

As much as I’d enjoy seeing Steve Austin have one more match for the nostalgia, I think Wrestlemania 32 in Texas would be the ideal scenario for him if he was in shape and healthy enough to. However I still would pick CM Punk either way due to the circumstances.

Punk is still young enough and not too far removed where he could be more apt to perform at his best. But more so, I think the way CM Punk left and the aftermath of his absence gives you such a great story. They’ve worked before in the past and were scheduled to work again but the CM Punk vs. Triple H program with true shades of REALITY would be among the most must see television in WWE history if done right.

Give me Phil vs. Paul at Wrestlemania 31, brother.

    CM Punk

    Tom:

Part-time CM Punk would be fascinating to see but I’d rather see WWE settle into a Punk-less state for a while before he comes back. Let the chants for him die off completely before you drag him back into the mix, y’know?

Meanwhile, Stone Cold seems to have settled into a new life as wrestling’s Dad-King of Podcasting, but I really would love to see him back in the ring one last time (assuming he’s able to have a match without risking serious injury). Given the right opponent, I think he could still have something pretty special, though the window for that big return match is getting smaller every year. Let’s have it happen now, Punk’s got ages left to realise that wrestling’s where he belongs.

PWG DDT4 2014 Preview and Predictions

Everyone loves PWG. We love talking about it. Here’s a preview of the DDT4 tag tournament coming up tonight in Reseda.

    pwg

Giving their thoughts and predictions on what to expect from the show are members of the site @typicalROHfan, @TimWelcomed and @TomBlackett.

First we’ll do the non-tournament matches.

Chris Hero vs. Johnny Gargano vs. Kyle O’Reilly vs. Drake Younger in a Four-Way #1 Contender Match

    typicalROHfan:

The best thing about this match aside from the overall talent and clash of styles is that it’s very realistic any of them could win. Chris Hero still has his “return buzz” going. Johnny Gargano apparently had the PWG World Title match vs. Adam Cole in 2014 on the recent All Star Weekend show. Kyle O’Reilly was “screwed” in his title shot due to Mount Rushmore attacking. Drake Younger is a king in Reseda. I think Drake wins this match and wins the title on the next show. Or maybe even the same night if the title shot happens then. PWG does crazy things, yo.

    Interest Level: 9/10
    Prediction: Drake Younger wins.

    Tim:

This match is ridiculous in the best way possible. Hero, Gargano, and O’Reilly are some of my favorites and I’m finally starting to warm up to Younger. This match is loaded with great performers and all of them have a reason they could win. I think O’Reilly wins here so he can try again for the belt since Mount Rushmore ruined his chance last time and they will save Younger getting a shot for another time in the not-so-distant future.

    Interest Level: 10/10
    Prediction: Kyle O’Reilly wins.

    Tom:

Four way matches are rarely something I look forward to (even when there’s a dynamite stipulation like having a different member of the same awful family in each guy’s corner), but this is a really fun mix-up that should be great. While all four are very different, I don’t see it as being a clash of styles – it might get a little messy and chaotic, but in that really fun PWG way.

As far as the winner, Drake’s the only one to have not had a singles title match recently, so he seems to be the natural choice to win and get a title shot. Just from an emotional perspective though, it feels like it’s Drake’s time – after rewatching some of his PWG matches from the past year, I’ve found a new appreciation for what he brings to the company and he’s ridiculously likeable.

    Interest Level: 9/10
    Prediction: Drake Younger wins.

PWG All Star Weekend 10: Night 1 Preview and Predictions

Quick preview as this show is happening later tonight as you read this.

With time getting the best of us and this show approaching out of nowhere (no RKO), @typicalROHfan is here all by his lonesome giving his thoughts going into PWG All Star Weekend 10.

Adam Cole vs. Chris Hero for the PWG Title

After seeing Chris Hero have a stellar return match with Johnny Gargano at a live DGUSA show a month ago, I’m excited to see Hero’s matches vs. the new class of indie wrestling standouts. At the top of that list is Adam Cole (baybay). It’s also humorous that the big match ROH is building towards in 2014 is happening in PWG this weekend. I do see a slight chance Hero wins but I’m riding with Sexy Wrestler of the Week champion Adam Cole.

    Interest Level: 9/10
    Prediction: Adam Cole wins.

The Young Bucks and Kevin Steen vs. AR Fox, Ricochet and Rich Swann

My most anticipated match of the night and of the weekend. (Cole vs. Gargano on Night 2 would be a close 2nd.) How can this not be amazing on every level?

    Interest Level: 10/10
Prediction: Mount Rushmore kills. Continue reading

    This Or That: 11/11/2013

Everybody loves binary decisions, especially wrestling fans! In This Or That, we’ve forced ourselves to choose between two options that relate to wrestling.

Over five questions, @TimWelcomed@typicalROHfan and @TomBlackett will have to choose one of two options and give their reasoning on each of their choices. You can then vote on which one you’d choose, giving you the false impression that you’re somehow involved and we care about your opinion chance to join the conversation!

First let’s take a look at how you voted for last week’s topics!

More likely to get a WM 30 singles match?

    Dolph Ziggler – 59%, Hulk Hogan – 41%

    Better person to own TNA?

    Jeff Jarrett – 32%, Billy Corgan – 68%

Better WM 30 opponent for Undertaker?

    Brock Lesnar – 16%, John Cena – 84%

More likely to win the 2014 Royal Rumble?

    CM Punk – 58%, Daniel Bryan – 42%

Who will debut on WWE’s main roster first?

    Kassius Ohno – 53%, Solomon Crowe – 47%

(Note: This question was asked before Ohno’s release.)

More likely to hold the WWE Title next: Big Show or Daniel Bryan?

With rumors of WWE questioning Daniel Bryan’s drawing ability and Big Show currently in the title picture, who is more likely to have a WWE title reign next?

    bryan-big-show

    Tim:

I really can’t seem to grasp why Big Show is where he is right now. I understand they want to display their big men and such but to let Daniel Bryan just fall to the side for now is stomach-churning. I don’t see Big Show getting the belt soon but I do, sadly, see him getting it before Bryan gets his deserved run.

    The Big Show

    typicalROHfan:

This is difficult for me mainly because I can’t possibly see Big Show winning the title in this angle and you’d think this is his last time in the WWE title picture at his age and current structure of WWE. But if you told me he would be main eventing Survivor Series as the baby face instead of someone like John Cena, CM Punk and the other question participant Daniel Bryan, I’d have laughed in your face.

I’m going against my logic and common sense and will say Big Show gets a title run. Whether now and in the next year or so, the guy gets title reigns and main event pushes at the most random times. Bryan feuding with Brodie Lee and Ginger Sheamus is also not a good sign.

    Big Show

    Tom:

I can’t imagine the WWE Title being put on Big Show anytime soon. He’s the go-to guy for a boring post-Summerslam / post-Wrestlemania title feud that does nothing for anybody. Sure, he’s had a couple of World Title runs in the past year but… well, that’s Smackdown. That’s not to say that I think Bryan will be given the belt particularly soon, but I think it’s still likely to happen eventually, whereas I don’t think Big Show will EVER get it.

    Daniel Bryan

Who is more likely to hold the WWE title next?

    • Daniel Bryan (59%, 13 Votes)
    • Big Show (41%, 9 Votes)

PWG Matt Rushmore Preview and Predictions

    matt-rushmore

PWG returns with Matt Rushmore. PWG is the best. “If you love PWG so much, why don’t you marry it?” you may ask. We’ve looked it up and unfortunately you can’t legally marry a pro wrestling company.

Giving their thoughs and predictions on what to expect from the PPV are members of the site @TimWelcomed, @typicalROHfan and @TomBlackett.

Adam Cole vs. Kyle O’Reilly for the PWG World Title

    typicalROHfan:

Anticipation for this match has been building for a few months and I’m excited to see it in PWG. I attended the ROH show where these two faced off and Adam Cole was busted open and spitting blood everywhere on his way to the top of the independent wrestling scene. It was one of the coolest things I’d ever seen live but these two have never really had a memorable one on one match since then.

    adamcole

Expect that to change. I can see this being the best indie wrestling match of 2013.

    Interest Level: 9/10
    Prediction: #AdamColeBaby

    Tim:

I have been looking forward to this happening in the Reseda setting ever since Adam Cole won the PWG title. I think they’ll have the match that we always knew they could have together. I’m already anxiously waiting on the DVD of this show to be released.

    Interest Level: 10/10
    Prediction: Adam Cole retains.

    Tom:

Honestly, it was only until BoLA that I was really sold on Kyle O’Reilly as a guy I wanted to see in the PWG main event scene. I guess that’s the whole purpose of BoLA though, so well done PWG! YOU DID IT AGAIN! I was also at the ROH show for the last ‘big’ Cole / O’Reilly match and it was a pretty incredible experience. The crowd was restless and clearly sceptical about the confusing ‘hybrid rules’ the match was competed under, but the way Cole and O’Reilly turned them around was amazing. I’m expecting something different here, but still just as great.

    Interest Level: 9/10
    Prediction: Adam Cole. Continue reading
