    This Or That (7/9/2015)

Everybody loves binary decisions, especially wrestling fans! In This Or That, we’ve forced ourselves to choose between two options that relate to wrestling.

Over four questions, @TimWelcomed, @JoeySplashwater and @TomBlargh will have to choose one of two options and give their reasoning on each of their choices. You can then vote on which one you’d choose, giving you the false impression that you’re somehow involved and we care about your opinion chance to join the conversation!

Before we start, here’s last week‘s results:

More likely to leave Summerslam as WWE Champ?

    Seth Rollins – 76%, Roman Reigns – 24%

Which WWE reality show is better?

    Swerved – 73%, Tough Enough – 27%

    Better tag team?

    Best Friends – 68%, RPG Vice– 32%

Which summer movie will be worse?

    Pixels – 78%, Fantastic Four – 22%

Better choice for Wrestler of the Year: John Cena or Roderick Strong?

Who is the Wrestler of the Half Year?

    cena-strong

    Tim:

I’ve always been on the Roddy train but for the last couple of years he hasn’t delivering like we knew he could. This year has been awesome seeing him raise the bar. I can’t possibly say anyone is having the year Cena is having though. Week after week his US Open Challenge matches are the reason to watch Raw and then add the Owens feud to that and it cements his spot at the top of 2015 so far. I do wish he would talk less or talk like a normal person sometimes…

    John Cena

    Joey:

John Cena is definitely the better choice. Cena has been having superb matches on a weekly basis ever since winning the United States Championship and his matches often create a “Wrestlemania atmosphere” in having fans feel like its must see. Roderick Strong has been killing it but some of his PWG matches have been boring to a high level. Cena also was in my favorite match of the year vs. Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar so the WOTY iiiiiiiiis here.

    John Cena

    Tom:

I’m still not entirely onboard with the Roddy renaissance – he’s been very good (and he was fantastic when I saw him live at the PROGRESS Super Strong Style 16 tournament) but I haven’t seen enough of his truly great matches to consider him even in the same bracket as John Cena, who’s had some of the greatest matches of his career in the span of the last 6 months or so. It’s been really refreshing to see him compete with a more varied group of guys during his tenure as US Champ, and I hope it continues!

You can then vote on which one you’d choose, giving you the false impression that you’re somehow involved and we care about your opinion chance to join the conversation!

Before we start, here’s last week‘s results:

Should John Cena bring back the “spinner” United States title?

    No – 63%, Yes – 37%

    Current better non-wrestler?

    Dario Cueto – 52%, Paul Heyman – 48%

    More likely to breakthrough?

    Damien Sandow 59%, Fandango – 41%

Which Marvel film are you more excited to see?

    The Avengers: Age of Ultron – 73%, Ant-Man – 27%

Will Roman Reigns win the WWE Championship in 2015: Yes or No?

Will The Roman Empire take over this year?

    reignschamp

    Tim:

I don’t think WWE has really changed their minds on him outside of giving him a little more time to develop. I’m still not into him but I know a lot of people have changed their minds and would probably welcome it. As of right now I still think him being the face of the company seems like a really boring path for us to be on for the next few years.

He’s been put in some good spots such as being Brock’s punching bag and getting to break tables with The Big Show. I think he’ll be champ by the end of the year for sure. I can’t help but think about how over someone would be if they had tried as hard with someone people already like and was ready for the position.

    Yes

    Joey:

If I had to predict, I think WWE is hoping to make Roman Reigns WWE Champion at Wrestlemania 32. You can tell WWE wants Reigns to be “the next guy” to take John Cena’s place and they are being careful in how they present him following the backlash after his Royal Rumble win. I think the plan is to have him win over the fans by chasing the title and falling short a few times before ultimately winning the championship at WM 32. My early guess would be Reigns defeating Cena for the title next year.

    No

    Tom:

Old Vinny Mac always ends up getting his way so I’m sure we’ll see The Powerhouse with the straps eventually. Not sure if it’ll be this year though – The Fed seems set on having title reigns go a little longer and I’d be surprised to see Rollins lose it before the year is out.

    No

Will Roman Reigns win the WWE Championship in 2015?

    • No (58%, 33 Votes)
    • Yes (42%, 24 Votes)

    Sexy Wrestler of The Week

Hello. This is the naming of The Sexy Wrestler of The Week. Enjoy.

…And we are back. Another groovy week down and a whole lifetime full of sexy wrestlers to go. The votes were counted by me with extreme care. I decided to make a week out of it. I had to make a week out of it because there were so many votes. Holy moly! I kept a log of my Vote Count Vacation. It changed me. Let’s jump in.

Day One: I decided on the trip. Where would I go to relax and count votes? There was only one real answer. A log cabin in the dense forests of Michigan. I made my reservations and packed only the bare essentials. From this point on I would be living without any conveniences.

Day Two: I woke up and jumped on the airplane to Michigan. As I landed I breathed in the toxic fumes of trees and wildlife. “Oh, there’s The Great Lake,” is something I would have said to you had you been there with me but you weren’t because you probably couldn’t handle it. I had a taxi take me to MichiCabin, the really cool name the owner, Dale, had named this cabin. It’s “Michigan” and “cabin” put together. I think the official term for that is “word-sex” but Dale called it something way worse! What a character. This cabin fucking sucked.

Day Three: As I woke up from a horrid night of sleep I thought about going fishing but I hate the outdoors so much. It’s so hot and nasty. There are bugs and you always have to be on the look out for deviants and trolls. No thanks! So I got out of the bed and that’s the last thing I remember.

Day Four: I wake up in a stupor. Dale is sitting next to my bed. “Someone forgot to plug in overnight,” he said. You see, I’m a robot and I had forgotten to charge my batteries. It was really embarrassing but at least Dale was there to walk into the cabin I had rented from him to check on me. I decided I had been through enough and that tomorrow I would call it quits and go home early. First though, I must count these darn votes from the beautiful rays of sunshine I call The Sexy Wrestler of The Week Community!

Day Five: I did not get around to counting the votes from the night before and would not have time on this day either because I’m traveling home. I had to take a bus because Dale ended up being a deviant and stole my return flight tickets out of the cubbie hole he had labeled “important belongings” in the cabin. Tomorrow though.

Day Six: I wake up and my wild hippie friend Derek is knocking on my door. It’s been years and he needed a place to stay, so of course I let him have my couch. After I got done helping him move my old couch down to the empty alleyway behind Capiche Cove (a local bar known for it’s stupid ass name) he told me to get some rest. He was going to take me on a “spirit quest” the next day. This interested me because I’ve never had a spirit before. I’m a robot and my Christian beliefs dictate that I can’t get to Heaven without a soul which is probably the same as a spirit, right?

    Day Seven: [REDACTED]

…So yeah, people of the world. It was a wild ride but here we are. I saw all of the votes flash before my eyes and it was rad. It was like a vortex or something. You ever seen one of those? Anyway, so… here it is.

    CesaroSWOTW

When I saw who won I had this appear in the night sky. It was life changing and reaffirmed all I didn’t know in the world, okay? It was totally rad. So yeah, The Sexy Wrestler of The Week is Cesaro. Good job, dudes and dudettes. Keep on voting. Capiche?

Seven Things: 7 Best Dressed Wrestlers

Welcome to Seven Things, a list that consists of very eclectic topics. These are of my opinions and doesn’t express the views of others on WrestlingOnEarth.

Suits, ties, shirts, jackets, shoes, accessories and most of all – style. It’s all on deck as I look at the best dressed wrestlers in the world today. This is VERY biased and I am very proud of the extensive research that went into this groundbreaking piece. Thank you and good luck.

If he can’t return until Summerslam, should Daniel Bryan be stripped of the WWE title?

    YES – 62%, NO – 38%

More exciting rumored NXT signing pair?

Kevin Steen and Willie Mack – 56%, KENTA and Prince Devitt – 44%

Who would win in a fight?

    The Avengers – 53%, Godzilla – 47%

    Better panda?

    Red Pandas – 53%, Panda Bears – 47%

Thanks for breaking our past This Or That record for most poll votes!

Which Paul Heyman client is more likely to win the WWE Championship this year: Cesaro or Brock Lesnar?

With Cesaro in Money In The Bank and Brock Lesnar fresh off ending The Streak, who is more likely to become champion this year?

    cesaro-brock

    Tim:

I don’t think they’ll pull the trigger on Cesaro soon. They have way more to work with, story-wise, with Brock getting the title and having someone beat the man that ended Undertaker’s streak for the title. Maybe that man will be Cesaro? I don’t know. They haven’t really done anything good for anyone that came out of Wrestlemania hot. I do think Lesnar will and should be champion before Cesaro will be.

    Brock Lesnar

    Joey:

This could go either way but I think it comes down to if WWE is willing to put the title on Brock Lesnar knowing he won’t be a regular active wrestler. I can see him winning it at the Royal Rumble and losing it to John Cena or Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania but I doubt it can happen in 2014. With Bryan injured, it opens a spot and I think Cesaro could be the guy to grab the brass ring. WWE definitely believes in him and it wouldn’t surprise me if he wins it at MITB so I definitely think Cesaro has a better chance of being champ before the year ends.

    Cesaro

    Tom:

Honestly, even though it’s sure to be brief, I think a Brock title run is the way to go. He’s been kept at arm’s length from it since he’s been back, and now he’s conquered the Undertaker’s Wrestlemania streak, I can’t think of any other goals left for him.

Also, it’d be an incredible reintroduction for Bryan if Lesnar was somehow the one holding the title by Summerslam (maybe through being a mystery entrant in the Money in the Bank match?) and they faced each other then. Even if he didn’t get the win, it’d put him firmly back in the main event scene and hopefully banish all memories of the regrettable nonsense with Kane.

I’d really like to see Cesaro hold the title eventually, but I think that’s still a year or so (and a face turn) away.

    Brock Lesnar

Which push are you looking forward to more: Cesaro or Bad News Barrett?

Submitted by @WrestlingFanRJ, which rising star are you more excited about?

    cesaro-barrett

    Tim:

I haven’t really cared for Wade Barrett since the very early parts of the Nexus. I don’t think he’s a bad wrestler or anything but I don’t think he’s ever been given a good gimmick and I just do not have any reason to look at him for my entertainment. I really can’t stand the Bad News thing and it’s made him look like an even bigger joke until the last few weeks where they’ve started pushing him. It seems to be working for a lot of people.

Cesaro has made whatever is given to him work. He hasn’t had super horrible gimmicks (I don’t remember him yodeling. Show me videos and I still will not remember it). but still, he gets over by embracing what he’s given and being a beast in the ring. I am looking forward to the rise of Cesaro way more for a few reasons. He almost always has good matches. Nearly every match he participates in has at least one moment you will remember. He has a great mouthpiece in Paul Heyman.

I think this is a sink or swim time for Barrett but I just don’t find myself to enthralled at this point no matter how hard I try to get into it. Cesaro keeps my attention and seems to be heading in a direction that will continue to keep me watching him with anticipating eyes. It’s not entirely Barrett’s fault that I don’t care but he does seem awfully “mid-card bland” no matter what position he is in. I will say I’ve thought about these two as a tag team before. I could definitely get behind that farther down the road.

    Cesaro

    Joey:

Most consider me to be a Wade Barrett hater and I’m definitely not a fan but even I have to admit the Bad News Barrett gimmick is taking off more than any of his MANY other pushes did. That being said, I’ve got some bad news for Bad News. Cesaro is better.

Becoming one of the most exciting things in wrestling, I am excited to see what happens with Cesaro. Now with Paul Heyman being his manager, it adds even more interesting layers to his future. Even if it doesn’t work out as well as I hope, Cesaro is just more entertaining in the ring and as a personality so of course, my answer is Cesaro.

    Cesaro

    Tom:

As a European, it delights me to see two of my… well, not countrymen, so continentmen? That doesn’t sound right at all. Anyway, it’s fun to see these guys with wacky old accents featured in such a prominent role right now. I’ve never cared too much either way for old Wade Barrett, but I’ll admit to enjoying some of his recent segments. They do seem to have toned him down quite a bit since he’s started wrestling again though, so I just hope they don’t go too far and remove any trace elements of fun in an effort to make him come off as a Serious Competitor.

Cesaro’s a favourite and I’m really excited to see how his path continues, but… well, he’s going to be okay regardless, y’know? He’s just REALLY good and no amount of Swagger tagging or yodeling is going to keep him down, whereas I think this might be old Barrett’s last chance. So, just for the sake of some variety, I’ll go with Bad News Barrett.
