WWE Elimination Chamber 2017 Preview and Predictions

    This is a show.

Giving their thoughts and predictions on what to expect from the PPV are members of the site @JoeyOnEarth, @TimWelcomed and @TomBlargh.

Mojo Rawley vs. Curt Hawkins on the kick-off

    Joey:

I don’t have to watch the kick-off show. Perfect!

(Can someone alert me if they team together to throw Zack Ryder and his wheelchair off the stage?)

    Interest Level: 0/10
Prediction: Mojo does a 90s dance and Curt Hawkins makes weird faces.

    Tim:

Well, I don’t know what we did to deserve this but I guess I’ll make it through the punishment. I forget Hawkins is on the roster constantly which is probably for the best. This being on the card at all shows how lackluster the Smackdown roster really is.

    Interest Level: 0/10
Prediction: Mojo Rawley wins but we lose.

    Tom:

I thought they were a tag team!

    Interest Level: 1/10
    Prediction: Mojo Rawley wins.

    Randy Orton vs. Luke Harper

    Joey:

Great addition to the card. Randy Orton is the one of the lamest human beings in wrestling, but he has decent enough matches. Luke Harper is awesome. Given the lack of depth on this card, these two could steal the show.

    Interest Level: 7/10
    Prediction: Randy Orton wins.

    Tim:

This is far more exciting to me than Orton vs Wyatt. Orton can have good matches when he’s in the ring with the right opponent and it just so happens that Luke Harper is great. I am loving that he’s finally getting a little more focus because he’s the most talented of the whole Wyatt Family and Smackdown’s roster could really use him breaking out. He’s just a roadblock for Orton here but I’m sure he’ll come out of this match looking better than ever.

    Interest Level: 6/10
Prediction: “The Viper” Randy Orton wins.

    Tom:

This could be a neat little match – I like Harper a lot though I’m not sure exactly what the future holds for him. I assume he’ll be back to being Bray’s sweaty boyfriend in time for him to feud with Orton, but it will be interesting to see how he’ll do in a fairly high-profile match.

    Interest Level: 7/10
    Prediction: Randy Orton wins.

Apollo Crews and Kalisto vs. Dolph Ziggler

    Joey:

What a mess. Apollo Crews and Kalisto deserve better. If they throw Dolph Ziggler off the stage, these two could be the next top stars for Smackdown. Hopefully WWE doesn’t blow this opportunity.

    Interest Level: 1/10
Prediction: Apollo Crews and Kalisto win.

    Tim:

We all know what needs to happen here but I’ll say it anyway. Dolph Ziggler needs to lose a handicapped match to these two great talents. If there’s one person I want to see not overcome the odds it’s Ziggler. I think it is going to happen. If we all believe this will be the outcome we can will it into existence.

Interest Level: 2 (for my boys Kalisto and Apollo Crews)/10
Prediction: Apollo Crews and Kalisto win.

    Tom:

What? It’s a handicap match? What is going on in Smackdown? I haven’t really been paying attention lately and this match’s existence makes me think that’s probably for the best. Anyway, not sure why this is happening, seems like a bad idea.

    Interest Level: 3/10
    Prediction: Dolph Ziggler wins.

The Miz vs. Dolph Ziggler for the Intercontinental Championship

    Joey:

The Miz’s short-lived stint with relevancy came to an end just one week later thanks to Dolph Ziggler. Nothing perfectly sums up a “Smackdown brand PPV” like Miz and Ziggler having a long match.

    Interest Level: 0/10
    Prediction: The Miz wins.

    Tim:

The Miz has had a wild month. Too bad it ended here.

    Interest Level: 0/10
    Prediction: Miz wins.

    Tom:

    No thanks!

    Interest Level: I’m okay!/10
    Prediction: Take care!

    Sexy Wrestler of The Week

It is time to name The Sexy Wrestler of The Week!

A week ago I noticed a suspicious folder that was put on my desk at Wrestling On Earth HQ. I’ve been locked out of there for about six months now and only got back in last week when I found my key in an empty bag of Funyuns by my inflatable pool, so no telling how long it has been sitting there.

I opened up the folder to find a picture. It was a very peculiar photograph to be exact. My first thought was that my ex-roommate was trying to play a prank on me. He is still very angry at me for kicking him out of the house. As I thought about it a while longer I came to the realization that he could not have possibly done this as his Photoshop skills are that of a seal covered in baby oil. Slippery, comical, and nonexistent.

I realized I needed some fresh air so I grabbed all of the Sexy Wrestler of The Week votes that were left to count and hopped on a plane to my home away from home, Mount Rushmore. I did what I always do when I need some time to clear my head. I set up a tent, tallied some of your votes, and let the stone-faced spirits of the United States flow upon me.

The iconic Mount Rushmore featuring George Bush, Robert Plant, Sam Elliot, and Abraham Lincoln

The iconic Mount Rushmore featuring George Bush, Robert Plant, Sam Elliot, and Abe Lincoln

My third eye was awoken with a sharp blast of red, white, and blue. My chakras were connected by the very fabric that Betsy Ross and her powerful hands forged together in a woven fervor to create the national flag. I was The Eagle. I was Plymouth Rock. I was not taxating without representating (yeah, that’s right) and at this moment I knew who I was and what I should do. I needed to go home and party with my friends and loved ones.

Betsy Ross and her two clones creating "Old Glory"

On the plane ride back I finished tallying your votes and when I saw who the winner was this week my mind was blown. It was the wrestler who was in the photo on my desk. Was this a sign? It is Spring so I’m always a little bit too connected with nature for my own good around this time of year. I decided I wouldn’t over-think it. I finally arrived at my house. I then hooked up all of my black lights and started burning my favorite dance playlist “Moby I Did, Moby I Didn’t” on to discs. This was going to be quite the party. No one showed up. A lot of my friends had hair appointments and my sister said some family was in town that she had to visit with so I understood. They would’ve all been there if they could.

    Thi is Moby

    Moby

I was a little let down until I decided to look at that picture again. Then it happened. The black lights brought something significant to the surface. A phone number had appeared on the picture. This really was fate. I never should have doubted myself in the oneness of Spring. I called the number and it was answered by popular stump photographer, Leo Mimps. He said he would do an interview with me for a price. Needless to say, here we are. Before I reveal the interview I will reveal that The Sexy Wrestler of The Week is none other than Bray Wyatt. Here is THE photograph.

    SWOTWWyattMcMuffin

Me: What do we have here?

Mimps: Some glorious stumps, my friend. Exquisitely crafted by years of the harsh environment.

Me: Ah, yes. But why did you think the tremendous readers of Wrestling On Earth would find this particular photo intriguing?

Mimps: Harumph, well… if you look closely behind the two magnificent stumps and the dominating alpha tree you will see something peculiar, my dear boy. It may be a bit blurry as it wasn’t the focal point for this work of art but I strongly believe that is none other than Bray Wyatt sleeping in a giant sausage, egg, and cheese McMuffi-

Me: Be more generic. Our marketing deal went awry awhile back.

Mimps: Oh, right. Well, it’s Bray Wyatt sleeping in a giant breakfast sandwich from a popular fast food chain.

Me: It seems to be rotted. I question this as it is known he eats worlds. If he eats worlds and sleeps on food, do you think he may be very confused about how things work?

    Mimps: Look, I don’t know.

Me: Well, thanks for joining us.

Mimps: Stay stumping, my good man. I’d also like to take this time to tell your readers about the dangers of dealing with doctors.

Me: I’m sorry. We are out of time.

Mimps: I say, boy. Fuck this nonsense.

So there you have it. He may be an interesting character in the ring but Bray Wyatt is just as wild outside and I bet he smells! That is super sexy in the world of wrestling. I would like to thank Leo Mimps for his contribution although I feel like, for the sake of transparency, I should tell you he seemed like a really bad person and even threw a lit cigarette into the office trash can, causing a lot of damage. He also sucks at photography. Who only photographs stumps? Don’t forget to cast your votes for next week! Bye!

    This Or That (2/17/2015)

Everybody loves binary decisions, especially wrestling fans! In This Or That, we’ve forced ourselves to choose between two options that relate to wrestling.

Over four questions, @TimWelcomed, @JoeySplashwater and @TomBlargh will have to choose one of two options and give their reasoning on each of their choices. You can then vote on which one you’d choose, giving you the false impression that you’re somehow involved and we care about your opinion chance to join the conversation!

Before we start, here’s last week‘s results:

Who will leave Wrestlemania 31 as champ?

    Anyone else – 52%, Roman Reigns – 48%

    Better tag team break-up tease?

Miz and Sandow – 53%, Gold and Star Dust– 47%

Better guest on the Steve Austin Podcast?

    Vince McMahon – 83%, Triple H – 17%

    Better video game series?

    Mortal Kombat – 57%, Street Fighter – 43%

Will Bray Wyatt face The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 31: Yes or No?

Is The Undertaker who Bray Wyatt is referencing in his promos?

    wyattundertaker

    Tim:

I don’t see this as a good idea or something that really makes sense. I figure Vince is all excited about putting the two supernatural characters against each other. I think it will happen although it doesn’t seem like it will this late in the build-up to Wrestlemania. It doesn’t even look like they know for sure if The Undertaker will be back yet and that’s kind of absurd. The streak is over and Bray Wyatt isn’t that great. There’s nothing here for me so of course this will go down.

    Yes

    Joey:

The rumors about expected Wrestlemania matches during “Wrestlemania season” are almost always true but I just can’t see how they can make this match happen. The Undertaker’s Wrestlemania streak ending is arguably the greatest long term storyline in WWE history.

How can you just have ‘Taker return after finally losing only to not be involved in a story with the person who defeated him? It just would make zero sense for The Dead Man not to get his revenge and move on to someone else. Bray Wyatt has done a very good job over the last month but it would also feel like a step down for Undertaker in a match where it would be need to be its biggest for him to return after losing. I just can’t see it. Wyatt has to be referring to someone else as a fake out. Maybe someone else on the roster that will be getting a push out of this?

    No

    Tom:

The idea of Bray Wyatt faking us all out and targeting someone other than ‘Taker is very appealing, but I can’t imagine who else it could be and not feel like a total wet fart. Also, WWE isn’t generally that creative or restrained – if it WAS a fake-out, I’m pretty sure we’d have heard Cole and the other commentary knobs referencing Undertaker by name after Wyatt’s promos. Anyway. I think the match will be kinda bad but YES, Undertaker WILL wrestle Wyatt at Wrestlemania. Hopefully he has all the surgeries he needs by next year so he can have his actual final ‘Mania match with Bryan and it can be something fantastic.

    Yes

Will Bray Wyatt face The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 31?

    • No (20%, 10 Votes)

    Sexy Wrestler of The Week

Are you hungry? I sure am. Let’s fill up on content. Here’s The Sexy Wrestler of The Week.

It’s been a long week but here I am ready to give you what you have all been begging for. Oh yes, the votes have indeed been counted and I have The Sexy Wrestler of The Week ready to be announced to all of you lovely people. I think you all have kind of gone nuts with the voting though. I’m starting to think trolls are voting again so I will definitely be watching for that a little harder in the future.

The winner this week is REALLY spooky! He’s not a goblin or a ghoul but he does have a lantern. It’s not Halloween and this guy is kind of evil so I’m not sure why this happened. Maybe this beard craze has finally hit maximum shark jump.

    BrayWyattSWOTW
The people have spoken, I guess. Bray Wyatt is The Sexy Wrestler of The Week. Here’s a picture of Bray Wyatt that I snapped when I spotted him eating in an abandoned house I was visiting a few weeks ago. That plate of food sure looks good. I haven’t eaten in three days because I can’t find my plates. I wonder what exactly it is that he is eating. It looks like a noodle meal of some sort. Let’s enhance that picture and zoom in on that pile of grub to find out.

    SpaghettiWorld

Ah, I should have known. He’s eating his favorite meal. Spaghetti and worlds with tomato sauce. They don’t call him The Eater of Worlds just to be wacky. The man does eat them and there is your proof. I wonder if those are good dipped in chocolate too. I wonder a lot but I think this could possibly lead to some major money. See you later.

Before we start, here’s last week‘s results:

Which item would you rather have received at a show?

    Bret Hart’s sunglasses – 80%, The Rock’s elbow pad – 20%

    More exciting 2015 debut?

    Daniel Bryan’s book – 56%, Avengers: Age of Ultron – 44%

Who would you rather have a two hour long conversation with?

    Taz – 84%, Michael Elgin – 16%

    Better Pixar film?

    Up – 55%, Finding Nemo – 45%

Better authority figure: Steve Austin or Mick Foley?

Who was better as a general manager/commissioner of WWE?

    austinfoley

    Tim:

Steve Austin never seemed right as the GM to me. He had some funny moments but it seemed against character in a few ways not to mention he was still probably the most entertaining part of the show every week and could easily overshadow many of the active wrestlers. Mick Foley was fun and brought an enjoyable vibe to the show. It is always nice to have a face authority figure and I believe Mick Foley was one of the best.

    Mick Foley

    Joey:

Steve Austin was entertaining as co-GM with Eric Bischoff but his personality and star power would overtake the show. Mick Foley did an excellent job at being endearing and adding some entertaining segments but was just a guy who happened to be commish.

I’d say Foley was the best authority figure WWE had in the baby face role. When I watch 2003 RAW episodes or PPV’s, I look out for Austin segments. When I watch 2001 WWE content, I forget Foley was the Commissioner and am greeted with some pleasant memories.

    Mick Foley

    Tom:

I was having a sabattical from wrestling while Stone Cold was Raw’s sheriff, though from what I’ve seen, it seems like it made for some great moments. However, Mick Foley’s run as commissioner was unbeatable and that period still stands as my favourite in WWE history. If I had to pick one of them to come back to be commish these days though, I’d have to go for ol’ Stone Cold – I really enjoy his new ‘podcast dad’ persona, whereas Foley can be a little cringey sometimes.

Better Hell In A Cell match?

Mankind vs. Undertaker – 55%, Shawn Michaels vs. Undertaker – 45%

Who is the MVP of the Hell In A Cell match?

    Mick Foley – 84%, Undertaker – 16%

Is there anything at all that interests you about TNA Bound For Glory?

    NO – 62%, YES – 38%

Who would you rather sit next to at a wrestling show?

Green Lantern Fan – 81%, CM Punk Kid – 19%

Which match would excite you more: Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins Hell In A Cell or Sami Zayn vs. Adrian Neville Ladder Match?

Ambrose/Rollins inside The Cell is confirmed. Rumor has it Zayn/Neville is planned for a December NXT special. We’re speculating about the Ladder Match. Which would you be more into?

    ambrollins-nevillezayn

    Tim:

The Rollins/Ambrose feud has died down for me since John Cena got involved. Not just because he is involved but it cluttered the storyline. I will say that while Hell In A Cell matches have not meant anything to me in a long time, Ambrose versus Rollins is a feud that seems heated and personal enough to make Hell In A Cell feel appropriate for the battle and I fully believe these two have the creativity and the chemistry to make it something special. “Special” is not the proper descriptor for a lot of the Hell In A Cell matches in recent memory. With the WWE product being so awful lately this match is the one I’m looking forward to.

The Neville/Zayn feud has been well-written and those two wrestlers really bring it every time they step in the ring. When Zayn finally wins that belt it will be a real emotional moment. I feel like adding any gimmick to the final battle of this feud would take away from it for me, even if it is something that I know they could make awesome like a ladder match. I love ladder matches but I just wouldn’t feel it fit in the context of the feud. It wouldn’t hurt it too bad but I do feel like it would detract from the story that could be told in a regular one-on-one match between these two.

Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins Hell In A Cell

    Joey:

Both matches should be great and while it features guys known for their cool moves, this comes down to the story. I just have no emotional attachment to Dean Ambrose. I know he’s talented but when he finally gets his victory over Seth Rollins, it won’t provide anything special to me aside from match quality.

When Sami Zayn finally wins the NXT title, it will be a big moment to me and I don’t even care about NXT! Zayn reminds me of Daniel Bryan where I can’t help but love the guy and want to see him succeed. Plus let’s be honest. Ladder matches are almost always wonderful and Hell In A Cell matches are almost always disappointing.

    Zayn vs. Neville Ladder Match

    Tom:

Years of crappy Hell in a Cell matches with no real build and silly finishes have soured me on them, but Rollins and Ambrose were able to make a lumberjack match fun so I’m sure they’ll do something great in the Cell. However, I’m still finding it hard to get that excited for it because of how mixed their Raw segments have been, whereas just the idea of a Zayn/Neville match is immediately super appealing.

I’m starting to get over my apathy towards Adrian Neville because he really is incredible – I just find it easy to forget that for whatever reason. There aren’t enough words to say how great Sami Zayn is, and the story of a strained friendship between the two is simple and works. I’m really hoping this does come to fruition and neither Tyson Kidd or Tyler Breeze are chucked into the mix to muddy things.

Who will have more WWE World Heavyweight title reigns in 2015: Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins COMBINED or Roman Reigns?

Is the future The Roman Empire or do the other Shield members have a chance to pass Reigns?

    shield

    Tim:

As much as I like to hope WWE won’t stay the course with Reigns, I really think they are going to stick to it. Reigns will win the title at Wrestlemania 30 and hold the belt once or twice throughout the course of 2015. I am willing to bet that Rollins and Ambrose will never once hold the gold in 2015. My faith in WWE creative may be at or near an all-time low recently. Hell, we may even get a Big Show or Kane feud against Reigns. Exciting times ahead…

    Roman Reigns

    Joey:

My expectations are for plans to stay in motion and Roman Reigns will defeat Brock Lesnar to win the title at Wrestlemania. Rollins will try to cash in right after the match as his sell being that he wants “the Wrestlemania moment” over his ex partner but Roman will also defeat him to start his reign. (Pun intended.)

If anyone beats Reigns eventually afterwards, it will probably be Cena or Bryan. Those three and Brock are the four that will be title holders in 2015 as I see Ambrose moving down the card a little after his feud with Rollins ends and the same happening to Rollins eventually though both will have big roles. Sorry, Ambrosebuds. It’s sadly The Roman Empire in 2015.

    Roman Reigns

    Tom:

It’s really tough to imagine Reigns being given a long run as champ. If I had to guess, I think he’ll have it from around Wrestlemania to Summerslam, at which point the crowd will have turned on him to the point that he’ll drop it to Daniel Bryan (assuming he’s healthy), and then maybe we’ll get Bryan feuding with Rollins and Ambrose to make post-Summerslam WWE worth a damn for once. This is all dumb fantasy booking though, so shut the fuck up, Tom.

I dunno, man. It seems inevitable that Rollins will get a run once he cashes in the briefcase, but I really can’t picture him holding it for long or Ambrose being the one to take it from him. I’m desperately trying to find a way to say Rollins and Ambrose here! It seems unlikely, but you know what? I’m just gonna DARE TO DREAM TO BELIEVE that those precious darlings will find a way to overcome The Roman Empire.

Who returns to have a match on TV first?

    Evan Bourne – 65%, JTG – 35%

    Better web browser?

    Chrome – 68%, Firefox – 32%

Which continuing feud do you dislike more: Bray Wyatt vs. John Cena or Daniel Bryan vs. Kane?

Both seem to be continuing for another month. If you were able to end of the two, which would you?

    wyatt-cena-bryan-kane

    Tim:

I’m not liking either at all. The way they book around Cena is doing The Wyatt Family no favors and Kane being Kane is doing Daniel Bryan no favors either but I at least have very little doubt that Bryan will walk from the Kane feud still champion. Bray Wyatt needs to come off strong in this feud but I can just see Cena finishing out the feud on top and The Wyatts running out of steam completely at that point. Not to mention the storytelling for Bray and Cena has been very inconsistent.

    Bray Wyatt vs John Cena

    Joey:

After Extreme Rules, it’s hard to tell. One produced a good match but is like an anchor stopping the Daniel Bryan title reign from taking off as well as hoped. The other is just bizarre and confusing. The next month of WWE TV with these two angles continuing is not a great sign.

If having to pick one, I’ll lean towards Kane vs. Daniel Bryan. I enjoyed Cena vs. Wyatt up until Wrestlemania and wish it ended there. The Kane vs. Bryan is just slighting excitement from Bryan’s title reign after a surreal Wrestlemania moment. It’s also gonna lead to a Buried Alive or Inferno Match in all likelihood. Last night’s horrific segment showed how terrible of TV we have to look forward to for the next month.

    Kane vs. Daniel Bryan

    Tom:

Honestly, I don’t think I can deal with much more horror movie Kane. You could say that it’s a rite of passage for Bryan to go through at least one dreadful Kane feud as champion, but it’s one that I could do without.

The Wyatt / Cena stuff is dumb, but not on quite such a horrific level, and I don’t think it’s as potentially damaging – if Bryan’s first feud as champ is a real stinker, it could spell trouble for the rest of his reign.

They are both awful matches to even have to think about but I am going to go with Daniel Bryan vs Sheamus.  Daniel Bryan and Sheamus can have great matches. They had one of my favorite 2 Out Of 3 Falls matches at Extreme Rules 2012. It was even my favorite Sheamus match ever. However, Daniel Bryan is WAY too hot right now to be saddled wrestling someone like Sheamus on the biggest stage of them all. Not to mention that Sheamus as a character is always extremely annoying.

There are three things that could happen here.

1: Sheamus wins. Oh god… That is scary.

2: Daniel Bryan gets his revenge and beats Sheamus in 18 seconds or less. It would make the most sense with their history but would totally leave us without a decent Daniel Bryan match.

3: Daniel Bryan defeats Sheamus in a decent match that doesn’t get enough time because of all of the other “high-profile” matches.

Before giving my answer, Randy Orton vs. Batista is my nightmare. It consists of my two least favorite performers of the last era in terms of many facets I will explain in a piece closer to Wrestlemania. That being said, my answer has to be Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus.

Bryan’s red hot buzz was sabotaged to make sure he stays in that 2nd tier position on the card with guys like Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio and The Big Show. The only problem with that was the fans have started to revolt and treat him as if he’s THE guy. You’d assume with the last 6 months that he’d have a title program or face someone like The Undertaker or John Cena. Nope. It’s Sheamus. Fucking Sheamus. Unless plans change the fans at live shows push their hands, what an absolute waste and slap in the face to wrestling fans.

    Tom:

It’s a tough one to call – Orton / Batista is undoubtedly the match that I want to see less, but there’s something incredibly depressing about the idea of Bryan wrestling Sheamus at Wrestlemania for the third time in four years, even if the first two times barely count. I really loved their two out of three falls match at Extreme Rules 2012 but after the year Bryan’s had, is this the best they can manage for him?

Having said that, Batista vs. Orton main eventing a Wrestlemania in 2014 is a massive pile of shit, so I’m forced to pick that.
