    This Or That (9/24/2015)

Everybody loves binary decisions, especially wrestling fans! In This Or That, we’ve forced ourselves to choose between two options that relate to wrestling.

Over four questions, @TimWelcomed, @JoeySplashwater and @TomBlargh will have to choose one of two options and give their reasoning on each of their choices. You can then vote on which one you’d choose, giving you the false impression that you’re somehow involved and we care about your opinion chance to join the conversation!

Before we start, here’s last week‘s results:

Which Seth Rollins match are you looking forward to more?

    Sting – 62%, John Cena – 38%

Who would you rather see Triple H face at Wrestlemania 32?

    Seth Rollins – 67%, The Rock – 33%

    Better WWE signing?

    Rich Swann – 70%, Biff Busick – 30%

    Superior wings?

    Boneless wings – 57%, Bone-in – 43%

Worst opponent choice for a star wrestler’s match: Big Show facing Brock Lesnar at MSG or Kane facing Seth Rollins at HIAC?

Big Show and Kane back at it again.

    seth-show

    Tim:

Both of these  guys can take a hike, buddy! The Kane/Rollins stuff was inevitable and Rollins still has a long career ahead of him  to wrestle much of the roster. I don’t want to see this match but whatever. Way too much of Lesnar’s run has been spent on him wrestling the wrong people and that is a travesty. My main three dream opponents on the roster for him are Owens, Cesaro, and Daniel Bryan. We will probably never ever get any of those. Big Show vs Lesnar has history but even then it was dull. This just sucks.

Big Show vs. Brock Lesnar at MSG

    Joey:

Brock Lesnar wrestles so few times that having him face Big Show yet again is incredibly frustrating. When it was announced Lesnar would be wrestling at MSG, I had high hopes for him beating up a prick (Dolph Ziggler), a goof (Bo Dallas) or anyone else new and outside the box. Of course, it’s Big Show because you can’t get into October without him getting a noteworthy match or two. Kane vs. Seth Rollins is annoying as well but at least you knew it was coming and Rollins will wrestle everyone on the roster at some point. Brock won’t.

Big Show vs. Brock Lesnar at MSG

    Tom:

I am entirely onboard with Kane stealing the Joseph Park Esq. gimmick but I don’t particularly want to see him wrestling (unless it’s against Kevin Owens, although that’s a caveat I’d add to almost everyone on the roster right now). Having said that, I’d still MUCH rather see Rollins fight Kane than Ambrose again. Let the Rollins vs. Old Lads tour continue, maybe he’ll break Ric Flair’s nose next month.

Unless Big Show vs. Brock is just the two of them hurling couches back and forth at each other, I’m not that interested. Give Lesnar a little lad to toss around!!!

    Sexy Wrestler of The Week

It is a new year but what really matters is The Sexy Wrestler of The Week.

If you’re anything like me you’re waking up from a nap because you had a long night. The difference between us is that you’re wondering who the first Sexy Wrestler of The Week of the year is and I already know because I am the vote counter. That is all I do. I have no life because I want to bring this amazing award to all of you every week. It’s not about me but I would like some respect or at least a “thank you.” 2015 is the year I get my much deserved respect for this important job.

Maybe I’m just stressed. This is the first year we will not have a Sexy Wrestler of The Year but it just didn’t seem right after finding out the votes were being tampered with by my former intern that I had hired from Reddit. This has been a truly disgusting year and I will work relentlessly to remove the ugly blemish from this once prestigious award.

Now that I’ve released that from atop my chest let us get into it. Let’s get to the business. Let us talk of the deal. The very first Sexy Wrestler of The Week of 2015 is a newcomer to the award and it couldn’t have happened at a better time as this wrestler is known to love New Years. I’m just glad I get to point this fun fact out before anyone else on the internet does. You have NO clue who it is.

    SWOTWBigShow

Now you know who it is. The Big Show cements himself as one of the elite as he is The Sexy Wrestler of The Week. You voted and I counted. This is a thing you did so you should be happy. Democracy and all of that. I found this picture of The Big Show that you have never seen. Ever. Yeah, YOU’RE WELCOME.

    Who do you side with?

    CM Punk – 92%, Triple H– 8%

    Who do you side with?

    CM Punk – 61%, Ryback – 39%

    Who do you side with?

    CM Punk – 80%, Chris Jericho – 20%

    Which would you rather?

Wrestle a match with Ryback – 60%, Let CM Punk punch you in the fucking throat – 40%

More likely: CM Punk wins a UFC championship belt or Batista wins an Oscar?

Which new career is more likely to reach an unthinkable success?

    CMBatista

    Tim:

I think Batista has pretty good potential as an actor. I like him in movies way more than I have ever liked him as a wrestler but I am not so confident in anyone ever casting him in a role that could lead to an Oscar for him. I think he could possibly pull off a good enough performance if given the chance though.

CM Punk is a determined individual. I think his pride and determination could very well lead him to doing better in UFC than most people think… or end in him being super bitter and grumpy about the whole experience. So, I guess I’m going with CM Punk here but really WHO KNOWS?

CM Punk winning a UFC Championship

    Joey:

I don’t think Batista will ever get a serious role in a depressing film. Only serious movies with depressing themes win Oscars. Batista will just get fun characters in high budgeted Summer flicks.

Dana White loves CM Punk. Plus I’m sure Paul Heyman can manipulate the system where they introduce UFC Tag Team Titles which Brock Lesnar and Phil Brooks will hold forever. In all seriousness, I can see CM Punk finding a weird route to a title while the Academy will never stop snobbing out Big Dave.

CM Punk winning a UFC Championship

    Tom:

As much confidence as I have in “Big” Dave “Batista” Bautista’s acting abilities, Hollywood is NOT ready for him. They can only handle one wrestling superstar at the top of  their system at once and they’ve gone with ol’ Dwayne Johnson this generation. Yes, they fucked up.

Meanwhile, UFC is a total fucking work for confirmed jabronie marks without a life so I’m sure they’ll let Phil “The Punker” Brooks win one of their bullshit belts.

Before we start, here’s last week‘s results:

Who will have more WWE World Heavyweight title reigns in 2015?

Roman Reigns – 58%, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins COMBINED – 42%

More likely to be running shows this time next year?

    TNA – 76%, Global Force Wrestling – 24%

Better feud for Bray Wyatt going forward?

    Dolph Ziggler – 53%, Big Show – 47%

    Better vegetable?

    Broccoli – 59%, Lettuce – 41%

Who will face Seth Rollins in the Cell: John Cena or Dean Ambrose?

Rumor has it Cena vs. Ambrose kicks off Hell In A Cell. Winner faces Seth Rollins in the main event inside the cage. Loser would face Randy Orton later on.

    cena-ambrose

    Tim:

I’d gladly go do other things during another Orton vs Cena match if it meant Ambrose’s momentum stays intact and we get a Ambrose vs Rollins Hell In A Cell match out of it. I mean, with Cena being a stand-up guy and a knowledgeable veteran with some pull he would probably tell WWE management that he needs to lose to Ambrose at this juncture and use his powers to do the right thing for the future. RIGHT??

    Dean Ambrose

    Joey:

It’s very difficult to imagine Cena going on three PPV’s in a row without a victory, especially coming off the Summerslam demolishing by Brock Lesnar. The booking history dictates that he gets some big wins back but man, Dean Ambrose’s momentum is way too hot to stop.

It feels like Ambrose is on the precipice of something special and he needs one more really strong performance as a “star making night” to get to the next level. Beating the top guy in the company and then his arch rival who has had his number inside Hell In A Cell would be that. Plus, the rumor of the loser facing Orton would give you the out of Cena destroying Orton. It can and will work out where Dean Ambrose faces Seth Rollins inside that Cell.

    Dean Ambrose

    Tom:

I want to pick Dean Ambrose, but given that’d likely result in YET ANOTHER Cena/Orton PPV match, I can’t go that direction. It’s too unthinkable.

    Daniel Bryan  – 82%, Dean Ambrose – 18%

Which TNA free agent would you rather see return to WWE?

    Kurt Angle – 76%, Bully Ray – 24%

Who will have more WWE World Heavyweight title reigns in 2015: Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins COMBINED or Roman Reigns?

Is the future The Roman Empire or do the other Shield members have a chance to pass Reigns?

    shield

    Tim:

As much as I like to hope WWE won’t stay the course with Reigns, I really think they are going to stick to it. Reigns will win the title at Wrestlemania 30 and hold the belt once or twice throughout the course of 2015. I am willing to bet that Rollins and Ambrose will never once hold the gold in 2015. My faith in WWE creative may be at or near an all-time low recently. Hell, we may even get a Big Show or Kane feud against Reigns. Exciting times ahead…

    Roman Reigns

    Joey:

My expectations are for plans to stay in motion and Roman Reigns will defeat Brock Lesnar to win the title at Wrestlemania. Rollins will try to cash in right after the match as his sell being that he wants “the Wrestlemania moment” over his ex partner but Roman will also defeat him to start his reign. (Pun intended.)

If anyone beats Reigns eventually afterwards, it will probably be Cena or Bryan. Those three and Brock are the four that will be title holders in 2015 as I see Ambrose moving down the card a little after his feud with Rollins ends and the same happening to Rollins eventually though both will have big roles. Sorry, Ambrosebuds. It’s sadly The Roman Empire in 2015.

    Roman Reigns

    Tom:

It’s really tough to imagine Reigns being given a long run as champ. If I had to guess, I think he’ll have it from around Wrestlemania to Summerslam, at which point the crowd will have turned on him to the point that he’ll drop it to Daniel Bryan (assuming he’s healthy), and then maybe we’ll get Bryan feuding with Rollins and Ambrose to make post-Summerslam WWE worth a damn for once. This is all dumb fantasy booking though, so shut the fuck up, Tom.

I dunno, man. It seems inevitable that Rollins will get a run once he cashes in the briefcase, but I really can’t picture him holding it for long or Ambrose being the one to take it from him. I’m desperately trying to find a way to say Rollins and Ambrose here! It seems unlikely, but you know what? I’m just gonna DARE TO DREAM TO BELIEVE that those precious darlings will find a way to overcome The Roman Empire.

If he can’t return until Summerslam, should Daniel Bryan be stripped of the WWE title?

    YES – 62%, NO – 38%

More exciting rumored NXT signing pair?

Kevin Steen and Willie Mack – 56%, KENTA and Prince Devitt – 44%

Who would win in a fight?

Which Paul Heyman client is more likely to win the WWE Championship this year: Cesaro or Brock Lesnar?

With Cesaro in Money In The Bank and Brock Lesnar fresh off ending The Streak, who is more likely to become champion this year?

    cesaro-brock

    Tim:

I don’t think they’ll pull the trigger on Cesaro soon. They have way more to work with, story-wise, with Brock getting the title and having someone beat the man that ended Undertaker’s streak for the title. Maybe that man will be Cesaro? I don’t know. They haven’t really done anything good for anyone that came out of Wrestlemania hot. I do think Lesnar will and should be champion before Cesaro will be.

    Brock Lesnar

    Joey:

This could go either way but I think it comes down to if WWE is willing to put the title on Brock Lesnar knowing he won’t be a regular active wrestler. I can see him winning it at the Royal Rumble and losing it to John Cena or Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania but I doubt it can happen in 2014. With Bryan injured, it opens a spot and I think Cesaro could be the guy to grab the brass ring. WWE definitely believes in him and it wouldn’t surprise me if he wins it at MITB so I definitely think Cesaro has a better chance of being champ before the year ends.

    Cesaro

    Tom:

Honestly, even though it’s sure to be brief, I think a Brock title run is the way to go. He’s been kept at arm’s length from it since he’s been back, and now he’s conquered the Undertaker’s Wrestlemania streak, I can’t think of any other goals left for him.

Also, it’d be an incredible reintroduction for Bryan if Lesnar was somehow the one holding the title by Summerslam (maybe through being a mystery entrant in the Money in the Bank match?) and they faced each other then. Even if he didn’t get the win, it’d put him firmly back in the main event scene and hopefully banish all memories of the regrettable nonsense with Kane.

I’d really like to see Cesaro hold the title eventually, but I think that’s still a year or so (and a face turn) away.

Seven Things: 7 Favorite Forgotten NWO Members

Welcome to Seven Things, a list that will run weekly and consist of very eclectic topics. These are of my opinions and doesn’t express the views of others on WrestlingOnEarth.

Before Wrestling On Earth was formed, I wrote a little about this on a Tumblr page that not many people knew of. If you were one of the few to read it, you will notice there are quite a few differences in this list. I’ve re-watched a lot of WCW and it has changed a couple of my opinions as you’ll see here.

There have been many WWE produced shows or DVD’s discussing the NWO and it’s usually always the same story. Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff create the NWO. It becomes the greatest phenomenon to hit pro wrestling and usher in a new height of pro wrestling popularity at the time. They add too many wrestlers to the faction, it becomes convoluted and begins to sink the WCW product.

In this week of Seven Things, we look back at some of the forgotten rebels of the New World Order and their legacies. After all, it was supposed to “4 life” for the whole NWO; not just the popular kids.

    7. The Giant

    nwothegiant

The last edition of Seven Things featured a look back of the silly history of The Giant/Big Show so it only makes sense we start this one off laughing at him again, especially after his abysmal Survivor Series main event this weekend. The Giant joined the NWO shortly after losing the WCW title to Hulk Hogan due to wanting the money and power that came with the New World Order. After a while, The Giant would want another title shot vs. Hogan which led to him getting kicked out of the NWO.

WCW would begin to trust him for the next year and what did he do? The big man stabbed them in the back again, joining the NWO again siding with NWO Hollywood to take down the NWO Wolfpac and WCW. It was just too sweet for his appetite of looking foolish to pass on. This NWO run surely had to work out better for The Giant, right? Wrong. The Wolfpac and Hollywood would merge creating a super NWO which only allowed elite guys such as Horace Hogan and Disco Inferno to be in it. The Giant was beat down and kicked out again for not reaching the standard. When giving thanks this week, please thank Big Show for countless moments of unintentional humor.

Seven Things: 7 Worst Big Show Survivor Series Memories

Welcome to Seven Things, a list that will run weekly and consist of very eclectic topics. These are of my opinions and doesn’t express the views of others on WrestlingOnEarth.

With the current main event for Survivor Series 2013 being Big Show as the top baby face looking to bring down Randy Orton and the Triple H regime, it sparked my interest in looking up Big Show’s Survivor Series history.

Similar to overtaking the position Daniel Bryan was hoped to have hold into Wrestlemania season, Big Show has a past of being put into big matches, especially at Survivor Series and most end up being disappointing or questionable moments. These are my top 7 Worst Big Show Survivor Series Memories.

    7. Big Show vs. Chris Jericho vs. The Undertaker (Survivor Series 2009)

    show1

This match actually wasn’t bad. Big Show and Chris Jericho were the tag champs and they received a title match in triple threat form vs. The Undertaker. The story was interesting and the match was solid but Big Show being involved blocked the dream match of Chris Jericho vs. The Undertaker.

The singles match between those two never happened until that month twice, a few weeks before this event and the week after. Unfortunately both were on Smackdown episodes and it would have been way cooler to see Jericho vs. ‘Taker one on one at a big PPV. I must mention again, the match wasn’t bad. I had to fill out one more spot on the list and this won out (or loss depending on how you look at it) over a pointless Sheamus match at Survivor Series 2012.

    This Or That: 11/11/2013

Everybody loves binary decisions, especially wrestling fans! In This Or That, we’ve forced ourselves to choose between two options that relate to wrestling.

Over five questions, @TimWelcomed@typicalROHfan and @TomBlackett will have to choose one of two options and give their reasoning on each of their choices. You can then vote on which one you’d choose, giving you the false impression that you’re somehow involved and we care about your opinion chance to join the conversation!

First let’s take a look at how you voted for last week’s topics!

More likely to get a WM 30 singles match?

    Dolph Ziggler – 59%, Hulk Hogan – 41%

    Better person to own TNA?

    Jeff Jarrett – 32%, Billy Corgan – 68%

Better WM 30 opponent for Undertaker?

    Brock Lesnar – 16%, John Cena – 84%

More likely to win the 2014 Royal Rumble?

    CM Punk – 58%, Daniel Bryan – 42%

Who will debut on WWE’s main roster first?

    Kassius Ohno – 53%, Solomon Crowe – 47%

(Note: This question was asked before Ohno’s release.)

More likely to hold the WWE Title next: Big Show or Daniel Bryan?

With rumors of WWE questioning Daniel Bryan’s drawing ability and Big Show currently in the title picture, who is more likely to have a WWE title reign next?

    bryan-big-show

    Tim:

I really can’t seem to grasp why Big Show is where he is right now. I understand they want to display their big men and such but to let Daniel Bryan just fall to the side for now is stomach-churning. I don’t see Big Show getting the belt soon but I do, sadly, see him getting it before Bryan gets his deserved run.

    The Big Show

    typicalROHfan:

This is difficult for me mainly because I can’t possibly see Big Show winning the title in this angle and you’d think this is his last time in the WWE title picture at his age and current structure of WWE. But if you told me he would be main eventing Survivor Series as the baby face instead of someone like John Cena, CM Punk and the other question participant Daniel Bryan, I’d have laughed in your face.

I’m going against my logic and common sense and will say Big Show gets a title run. Whether now and in the next year or so, the guy gets title reigns and main event pushes at the most random times. Bryan feuding with Brodie Lee and Ginger Sheamus is also not a good sign.

    Big Show

    Tom:

I can’t imagine the WWE Title being put on Big Show anytime soon. He’s the go-to guy for a boring post-Summerslam / post-Wrestlemania title feud that does nothing for anybody. Sure, he’s had a couple of World Title runs in the past year but… well, that’s Smackdown. That’s not to say that I think Bryan will be given the belt particularly soon, but I think it’s still likely to happen eventually, whereas I don’t think Big Show will EVER get it.

    Daniel Bryan

Who is more likely to hold the WWE title next?

    • Daniel Bryan (59%, 13 Votes)
    • Big Show (41%, 9 Votes)

    Total Voters: 22
