    This Or That (3/17/2015)

Everybody loves binary decisions, especially wrestling fans! In This Or That, we’ve forced ourselves to choose between two options that relate to wrestling.

Over four questions, @TimWelcomed, @JoeySplashwater and @TomBlargh will have to choose one of two options and give their reasoning on each of their choices. You can then vote on which one you’d choose, giving you the false impression that you’re somehow involved and we care about your opinion chance to join the conversation!

Before we start, here’s last week‘s results:

Will Wrestlemania 31 be the worst Wrestlemania of the last 15 years?

    Yes – 54%, No – 46%

    Better version of Paul Heyman?

    Current day Paul Heyman – 80%, Paul E. Dangerously – 20%

Who do you side with in their podcast war?

    Chris Jericho – 67%, Taz – 33%

    Better junk food snack?

    Potato chips – 68%, Cookies – 32%

This week, there’s a British invasion theme submitted by @AnimeKing420.

Better wrestler: Adrian Neville or Bad News Barrett?

    barrett-neville

    Tim:

I think Adrian Neville has more potential overall but as of right now, Bad News Barrett has the whole package. He’s a good talker and pretty good in the ring. I really like the guy. Hopefully one day WWE will use him to his full potential.

    Bad News Barrett

    Joey:

Adrian Neville has special talents that very few can imagine but Bad News Barrett is the better overall wrestler. It took me a while to see it but Barrett is very good and if he ever gets away from the hell that is the Intercontinental title picture, he may have a chance at being elevated higher on the card. Love what Neville does in NXT but it’s hard to see him adapting to a broader product without making some changes and I’m not sure he can.

    Bad News Barrett

    Tom:

First of all, I’d like to thank Nightlife for these extremely respectful questions. As the site’s resident British person, I’m delighted to share my informed opinion on these hot-button issues.

Anyway, Barrett. I like Barrett, man. I like him a whole bunch. He deserves better than he’s had so far and I hope he gets a chance to be in a spotlight position this year. However, I’ve really gotten into Adrian Neville over the past year or so; his feud with Sami Zayn showcased that he’s able to play more than just the flippy nice guy and I think he’s improved a huge amount in terms of putting together a great match.

ALSO, Neville is from Newcastle so his accent’s more of a laugh than Barrett’s Lancashire drawl. It reminds me of Byker Grove, and that is NEVER a bad thing.

NXT Takeover R Evolution Preview and Predictions

It’s that time on your calendar again. NXT has a live special with a weird name.

Giving their thoughts and predictions on what to expect from the PPV are members of the site @JoeySplashwater, @TimWelcomed and @TomBlargh.

Finn Bálor and Hideo Itami vs. The Ascension

    Joey:

Finn Bálor and Hideo Itami haven’t stood out much from my skimming through NXT episodes. They come off like just another set of guys. Still immensely talented, hopefully this match is an early breakout performance. I have a feeling Itami will turn on Bálor and the Ascension will get the win before going up to the main roster.

    Interest Level: 7/10
    Prediction: The Ascension win.

    Tim:

I’m looking forward to seeing Finn Bálor and Hideo Itami wrestle as always but they really need to work on making them stand out more. They’re great talents. The Ascension still sucks. I’m thinking they go with Itami and Bálor will getting the win as The Ascension descend to the main roster.

    Interest Level: 6/10
Prediction: Finn Bálor and Hideo Itami win.

    Tom:

Fuck The Ascension! FUCK OFF! FUCK OFF TO SMACKDOWN! Praying for this to be super short and just a strong style (PURO TERM!) showcase of Bálor and Itami having great fighting spirit.

    Interest Level: 5/10
Prediction: Finn Bálor and Hideo Itami win.

    This Or That (10/14/2014)

Everybody loves binary decisions, especially wrestling fans! In This Or That, we’ve forced ourselves to choose between two options that relate to wrestling.

You can then vote on which one you’d choose, giving you the false impression that you’re somehow involved and we care about your opinion chance to join the conversation!

Before we start, here’s last week‘s results:

Better Hell In A Cell match?

Mankind vs. Undertaker – 55%, Shawn Michaels vs. Undertaker – 45%

Who is the MVP of the Hell In A Cell match?

    Mick Foley – 84%, Undertaker – 16%

Is there anything at all that interests you about TNA Bound For Glory?

    NO – 62%, YES – 38%

Who would you rather sit next to at a wrestling show?

Green Lantern Fan – 81%, CM Punk Kid – 19%

Which match would excite you more: Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins Hell In A Cell or Sami Zayn vs. Adrian Neville Ladder Match?

Ambrose/Rollins inside The Cell is confirmed. Rumor has it Zayn/Neville is planned for a December NXT special. We’re speculating about the Ladder Match. Which would you be more into?

    ambrollins-nevillezayn

    Tim:

The Rollins/Ambrose feud has died down for me since John Cena got involved. Not just because he is involved but it cluttered the storyline. I will say that while Hell In A Cell matches have not meant anything to me in a long time, Ambrose versus Rollins is a feud that seems heated and personal enough to make Hell In A Cell feel appropriate for the battle and I fully believe these two have the creativity and the chemistry to make it something special. “Special” is not the proper descriptor for a lot of the Hell In A Cell matches in recent memory. With the WWE product being so awful lately this match is the one I’m looking forward to.

The Neville/Zayn feud has been well-written and those two wrestlers really bring it every time they step in the ring. When Zayn finally wins that belt it will be a real emotional moment. I feel like adding any gimmick to the final battle of this feud would take away from it for me, even if it is something that I know they could make awesome like a ladder match. I love ladder matches but I just wouldn’t feel it fit in the context of the feud. It wouldn’t hurt it too bad but I do feel like it would detract from the story that could be told in a regular one-on-one match between these two.

Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins Hell In A Cell

    Joey:

Both matches should be great and while it features guys known for their cool moves, this comes down to the story. I just have no emotional attachment to Dean Ambrose. I know he’s talented but when he finally gets his victory over Seth Rollins, it won’t provide anything special to me aside from match quality.

When Sami Zayn finally wins the NXT title, it will be a big moment to me and I don’t even care about NXT! Zayn reminds me of Daniel Bryan where I can’t help but love the guy and want to see him succeed. Plus let’s be honest. Ladder matches are almost always wonderful and Hell In A Cell matches are almost always disappointing.

    Zayn vs. Neville Ladder Match

    Tom:

Years of crappy Hell in a Cell matches with no real build and silly finishes have soured me on them, but Rollins and Ambrose were able to make a lumberjack match fun so I’m sure they’ll do something great in the Cell. However, I’m still finding it hard to get that excited for it because of how mixed their Raw segments have been, whereas just the idea of a Zayn/Neville match is immediately super appealing.

I’m starting to get over my apathy towards Adrian Neville because he really is incredible – I just find it easy to forget that for whatever reason. There aren’t enough words to say how great Sami Zayn is, and the story of a strained friendship between the two is simple and works. I’m really hoping this does come to fruition and neither Tyson Kidd or Tyler Breeze are chucked into the mix to muddy things.

NXT Takeover II Preview and Predictions

NXT Takeover available for just 33 cents. (Because it’s one event on one day over a 30 day period. Do your math before you make another 9.99 joke.)

Giving their thoughts and predictions on what to expect from the PPV are members of the site @JoeySplashwater, @TimWelcomed and @TomBlargh.

    Mojo Rawley vs. Bull Dempsey

    Joey:

I don’t know these people. When I hear Mojo Rawley, I think ex TNA legend Cody Deaner. When I hear Bull Dempsey, I think ex ROH legend Bobby Dempsey. So I’m imagining this as Deaner vs. Bobby.

    Interest Level: 0/10
    Prediction: Bobby Dempsey wins.

    Tim:

Mojo Rawley’s gimmick is annoying and I feel like bros would love him. Bull Dempsey  goes by “The Last of A Dying Breed” because that’s imaginative. These two will not excite and will not turn any hands unless it’s in a repetitive back-and-forth motion.

    Interest Level: 0/10
    Prediction: Bull Dempsey wins.

    Tom:

I’ve not seen much of either guy but both seem to be generally regarded as the worst guys on NXT TV. Can’t wait!

    Interest Level: 1/10
    Prediction: Bull Dempsey wins.

Enzo Amore vs. Sylvester Lefort in a Hair vs. Hair

    Joey:

WHAT’S WITH THESE NAMES?! ARE THESE REAL PEOPLE?

    Interest Level: 0/10
    Prediction: Brutus Beefcake wins.

    Tim:

LeFort doesn’t do anything for me but he seems like an okay wrestler from what we’ve been able to see of him in NXT. Enzo Amore’s schtick has grown old but he is solid. This one could easily be really boring or delightfully midcard-mediocre. I don’t care too much but I’m definitely looking forward to it more than Rawley vs Dempsey.

     Interest Level: 3/10
    Prediction: Sylvester LeFort wins.

    Tom:

I know Enzo Amore is the guy who does the ‘SAWFT’ thing and is apparently from Queens, which is where I’m currently residing, so I can confirm that he is officially MY GUY. Also, Sylvester Lefort was trained by Lance Storm, which makes him deeply suspicious as a potential hater of charity / Tom Cruise.

Anyway, I like hair matches! Or at least I like hair matches where the actual hair shaving is really drawn out and poorly planned (i.e. every hair match ever), so I’m onboard with this.

    Interest Level: 6/10
    Prediction: Enzo Amore wins.
