Superhero Survivor Series: Round Three

    • Superhero Survivor Series: Round Three

We’re bored of wrestling so we came up with a new feature to let us go on about superheroes and comics instead. Welcome to Superhero Survivor Series!

Each of our panel members was tasked with drafting their dream team of superheroes for a classic 5-on-5 Survivor Series match.

Making their picks in the following order will be:

You can see the introduction and rules here. The picks so far are:

Round One: Arrow, The Incredible Hulk, Captain America, Guy Gardner (Red Lantern)Animal Man.
Round Two: Master ChiefSupermanNightcrawlerVenom (Flash Thompson)Stardust the Super Wizard.

      Let the third round begin!

      Superhero Survivor Series: Round Three

      Brad’s pick: KATO

      Brad:

I went with Kato because I feel he will make a very good tag partner for Arrow. First off, his martial arts skills will be an asset taking out the foot soldiers that protect the teams. His speed and fighting abilities will lead him to use his engineering and intelligence to take these teams from within.

Using his intelligence, he will attack technology to take down the teams and as an automotive expert, he will use vehicles alongside Arrow to take on forces that may look impossible.

      Joey’s pick: SPIDER-MAN

      Joey:

I’ve already got it in the bag, guys and gal. I almost went with Thor for his power (strength) or Batman for his power (popularity) to secure the vote but I can’t swallow my pride and have either of those two SPAZZY BOYS on my team. I went with my heart and took good ol’ Spider-Man. Aside from being all around great, Spider-Man is my personal favorite superhero.

Spidey is also a high character guy like Superman so there’s no ego clashes on this side. We all know how to do business over here.

      Tim’s pick: SPACE GHOST

      Tim:

Every team needs a member who can lighten the mood. Space Ghost brings this to the table. He may goof up and cause the team some woes at time but the comedy of it will definitely ease tensions. Let’s not forget that there is a talented side to Space Ghost. He is trained for hand-to-hand combat and has access to advanced alien technology including his power bands and the Inviso-Belt.

      …and plus, he’s a great documentary.

      Nightife’s pick: STORM

      Nightlife:

Storm is always overlooked as one of the most powerful mutants in the Marvel Universe, and thanks to the wide range of her powers, can hold her own with a large number of opponents.

From driving hailstorms to powerful lightning to F5 tornadoes and everything in-between, Storm is a force to be reckoned with. Plus, she can totally make the mohawk look work.

      Tom’s pick: THE PUNISHER

      Tom:

I couldn’t pick Judge Dredd because of the stupid bullshit rules that I put together prohibited him (given that he’s a cop in the future, as opposed to a superhero), so I picked the next best guy who loves shooting creeps in the face: The Punisher.

A lot of people don’t like The Punisher because he’s the leader of the grim-and-gritty anti-hero brigade and… well, to be honest, I don’t like him a bunch of the time. HOWEVER, his run while written by Garth Ennis was absolutely incredible. I don’t know how well he’d do on a team but I think every good group needs a zoo enthusiast (even if Frank Castle’s enthusiasm mostly manifests itself as a willingness to punch polar bears in the face):

      – If you want to hurl abuse at our draft pickers, you can find them on Twitter at @BradFGN, @JoeySplashwater, @TimWelcomed, @AnimeKing420 and @TomBlargh. Please don’t though, they’re trying their best. Check back Tuesday for the 4th round!
