Roderick Strong vs. Cedric Alexander in a Submission Match

      Joey:

Cedric Alexander is so young and has a world of potential. This needs to be his coming out party in ROH. Not into the idea of a submission match but you’d assume they have something cool planned to stick this stipulation on it? Either way, it should be an outside candidate for match of the night.

      Interest Level: 7/10
      Prediction: Cedric Alexander wins.

      Tim:

Submission matches are okay. I don’t understand why this has to be one but whatever. I’m hoping this match will make Cedric Alexander stand out even more. He should have a bright future ahead of him. Roderick Strong is pretty much the Alberto Del Rio of the indies currently. He can have strong matches against almost anyone but you never really find yourself caring too much. He’s a great person to help highlight Alexander here.

      Interest Level: 8/10
      Prediction: Cedric Alexander wins.

      Tom:

Not sure why this one’s a submission match, but Cedric Alexander seems to be on the up and up, while Roddy… well, for good and for bad, Roddy’s Roddy. Tim’s Del Rio comparison is absolutely perfect – he’s capable of being in fun matches, but it’s hard to get excited for him.

      Interest Level: 6/10
      Prediction: Roderick Strong wins.

ACH vs. Takaaki Watanabe vs. Caprice Coleman vs. Tadarius Thomas vs. BJ Whitmer vs. Tommaso Ciampa in 6 Man Mayhem for a future TV Title shot

      Joey:

Spots on spots on spots. ACH gonna ACH all match long. You’d think Ciampa gets the win here as the singles star with the biggest reputation in ROH as the other guys are lower on the card than him.

      Interest Level: 7/10
      Prediction: Tommaso Ciampa wins.

      Tim:

This match should be pretty wild. Not much else to say about it. I am not sure who will win so just for fun I’m going to go with ACH because he’s ACH.

      Interest Level: 7/10
      Prediction: ACH wins.

      Tom:

Did you know that Caprice Coleman is 37 years old? THIRTY SEVEN! How is that possible? Anyway, this should be a fun mess. It’s difficult to imagine seeing anyone but Ciampa winning.

      Interest Level: 6/10
      Prediction: Tomasso Ciampa wins.

Jay Lethal vs. Matt Taven for the TV Championship (Truth Martini will be handcuffed to the ring)

      Joey:

This feud has been a train wreck. Matt Taven started wearing bright green and orange out of nowhere. Truth Martini set Taven’s face on fire. Jay Lethal is mean now. People are being handcuffed to the ring. What is going on?!

      Interest Level: 0/10
      Prediction: Jay Lethal wins.

      Tim:

I don’t know. I find myself wishing none of this existed. I feel like there are better ways to use Jay Lethal than how they have been and I don’t care much for Taven for this storyline. Should be an okay match but I do not care either way.

      Interest Level: 1/10
      Prediction: Jay Lethal wins.

      Tom:

Taven really isn’t my cup of tea, and pairing Lethal with Truth is such an odd combo. I don’t think the match will be terrible, but I’d be completely okay with missing it, which is a bummer because I like Jay Lethal.

      Interest Level: 2/10
      Prediction: Jay Lethal wins.

      Kevin Steen vs. Silas Young

      Joey:

This is interesting. I like Silas Young but you have to question putting him against likely your biggest attraction on arguably the biggest show in company history? Young has never really had a big role in ROH so it’s a bit of a strange decision to put him in such a high profile match on this show. That being said, the match should be really fun as Steen is awesome and Young is very good. Hopefully it accomplishes what it sets out to.

      Interest Level: 7/10
      Prediction: Kevin Steen wins.

      Tim:

I’m looking forward to this. Silas Young is great and I am glad they are putting him in a match against one of the best and most popular wrestlers on the indies on one of their biggest shows. This should be a hard-hitting bout where Silas Young gets some shine by coming out on top.

      Interest Level: 8/10
      Prediction: Silas Young wins.

      Tom:

I’m excited for this! If Kevin Steen is going to leave ROH to spend more time with his new air conditioner and Netflix, then Silas Young is a good guy for him to have a scrap with; Silas is still relatively new to ROH but he’s fun to watch, he’s got a solid character and I’m hoping he breaks out a little more as a result of this. Hopefully he doesn’t go the cheap route of being super homophobic / sexist with the ‘Real Man’s Man’ deal but I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

      Interest Level: 8/10
      Prediction: Silas Young wins.

The Briscoes vs. Matt Hardy and Michael Bennett

      Joey:

I enjoyed some of the matches with Bennett/Adam Cole vs. The Briscoes but can’t see this topping those. I mean, I wouldn’t bet against it as when teaming, Jay and Mark Briscoe have a knack for delivering in big matches and I can easily see everyone raving about The Briscoes Monday morning.

      Interest Level: 6/10
      Prediction: The Briscoes win.

      Tim:

The Briscoes can usually find a way to bring out the best in any match they are put in but I am really not looking forward to this one. Hopefully they can make me feel differently once the match begins.

      Interest Level: 4/10
      Prediction: The Briscoes win.

      Tom:

Okay, a Briscoes match! It’ll be good fun and hopefully the crowd should be hot for it, but this does feel like filler more than anything.

      Interest Level: 5/10
      Prediction: The Briscoes win.

reDRagon vs. Christopher Daniels and Kazarian for the ROH Tag Team Championship

      Joey:

I heard The Young Bucks vs. Daniels and Kazarian was amazing at House of Hardcore last weekend so I have high expectations for the tag team formerly known as Bad Influence to tear up the indie scene. Their first match in ROH could not be against a better tag team as Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish are absolutely on fire right now, with O’Reilly arguably the best wrestler in the world. If this isn’t a GREAT match and match of the night, I will be very surprised.

      Interest Level: 10/10
      Prediction: reDRagon win.

      Tim:

This is the match I have the highest hopes for. I have wanted this match for a long time and am glad it is coming to fruition. Kyle O’Reilly is incredible and Bobby Fish is pretty damn good. Then you have two wrestlers with chemistry just as good who also have experience on their side in The Artists Formerly Known as Bad Influence. I am sure these guys will live up to my expectations.

      Interest Level: 10/10
      Prediction: reDRagon win.

      Tom:

Yeah, comfortably the match I’m most looking forward to. reDRagon is at the top of their game right now and Daniels/Kazarian are hopefully intent on making a big impression on their return to the indies so this should be pretty fantastic.

      Interest Level: 10/10
      Prediction: reDRagon win.

Adam Cole vs. Michael Elgin for the ROH Championship

      Joey:

I will put it as honestly as I can. My excitement for this match is due to being invested in the result but not the way most are. I will be rooting for Cole to defeat Elgin as if this is the Super Bowl and I have a million dollar wager on the line. I view Cole as a future WWE main eventer and Elgin as a C+ player at best.

Logic in the story says Elgin is winning based off past losses and due to the twist and turns the last few months. However, I just can’t grasp any logic for this. You’re finally at a chance to build a bigger audience, it’s not the time to take such a big risk with little to no reward. Making the title switch here would be like when the Colts took Peyton Manning out of a game and put Curtis Painter in during their perfect season. May be going with my heart but you gotta give Cole the win here.

      Interest Level: 9/10
      Prediction: Adam Cole wins.

      Tim:

I’m really not too interested in this match. Don’t get me wrong, it should be a well put-together match. Both men are talented wrestlers. Adam Cole is entertaining but he hasn’t really been someone I am excited to see as of late and I really don’t know why I feel like that about him now. Maybe one day soon I can figure out what happened to my love for Adam Cole… but what I do know is that I do not want Michael Elgin as ROH Champion.

      Interest Level: 6/10
      Prediction: Adam Cole wins.

      Tom:

“Unfollowable” Michael Elgin might have one of wrestling’s worst Twitter accounts (though thankfully, he seems to be on a social media sabbatical right now) but he’s still fairly fantastic to watch compete. However, he’s been on the cusp of becoming champion for such a long time now in both ROH and PWG that it’s become hard to really be invested in the idea of him getting a belt in either company. Like, it’s become such a foregone conclusion that they’ll eventually put it on him that now there’s no real sense of excitement about it actually happening, or at least that’s how I feel about it.

Anyway, this match should be good, if not great. Adam Cole’s fantastic and, like I said, Elgin’s also capable of excellence when he’s not retweeting HornyFacts. I’d like to see Cole stay as champ but I get the feeling that it’ll go to Elgin.

      Interest Level: 8/10
      Prediction: Michael Elgin wins.
