Superhero Survivor Series: And the winner is…

We’re bored of wrestling so we came up with a new feature to let us go on about superheroes and comics instead. Welcome to Superhero Survivor Series!

Each of our panel members was tasked with drafting their dream team of superheroes for a classic 5-on-5 Survivor Series match.

    Making their picks were:

You can see the introduction and rules here. The picks were:

Voting ended last night at midnight, but who’s the victor? Let’s find out now!

    And the winner is…

    Joey’s team!

The Incredible Hulk, Superman, Spider-Man, Squirrel Girl, Bionic Bunny

    Joey-heroes

Joey won with an impressive 34%. Coming up second was Tom, who got 24% of the vote, then Tim with 22%, Nightlife with 13% and ‘The Wildcard’ Brad with just 7% of the vote.

Here to speak on his victory is Joey himself.

    Joey:

I would like to take this time to thank all the comic fans and superhero aficionados who wisely voted my team (TEAM WINNERS) as the winners. It only makes sense the greatest mind and biggest fan of comic books were to pull off the victory. If I had one vote for every time Tom or Nightlife asked me for information about comics, well, I’d have even more votes than I did.

To celebrate my stature as the TOP comic book EXPERT, not only on Wrestling On Earth but on all the internet, my fellow comic experts will be allowed to ask me ANY superhero related questions at any time over at the Twitter: @JoeySplashwater.

In closing, thank you and always remember – Batman is a jabroni punk ass mark.

Anyway, that’s it. What a remarkable experiment this was, a superhero draft in which Batman and Iron Man were completely shunned but Bionic Bunny, Master Chief and Brad Ward all made the cut. God damn it, what’s wrong with us?

    – If you want to hurl abuse at our draft pickers, you can find them on Twitter at @BradFGN, @JoeySplashwater, @TimWelcomed, @AnimeKing420 and @TomBlargh. Please don’t though, they’re trying their best.

    Let the final round begin!

    Superhero Survivor Series: Round Five

    Brad’s pick: ELEKTRA

    brad-5

    Brad:

When you talk about Elektra, what comes to mind is her expertise in hand to hand combat. While Chief and Colossus will be using their strength, she will be using her speed and martial arts skills to take out and assist. One way she can assist is her low-level mind control and abilities to blur the mind of her adversaries.

If adversaries attempt to use heat or cold to take the team down, she has the endurance to withstand it. I feel she is the leader of the hand to hand combat of the team alongside the team who each possess some sort of hand to hand skill. (EDITOR’S NOTE: I had no idea what to do with that last sentence, so enjoy Brad in his raw, unfiltered form!)

    Let the fourth round begin!

    Superhero Survivor Series: Round Four

    Brad’s pick: COLOSSUS

    brad-4

    Brad:

I feel that Colossus will work great alongside Master Chief. Both guys have the durability to outlast a war, the Chief with his Mark armor and Colossus with the abilty to turn into organic steel.

Colossus’ abilty of super human strength will combat the Hulks and Things of the world. Colossus is also a trained swordsman so his close range combat skills will match up well with Arrow and Kato. Colossus also posseses the skill of being a trained acrobat, making him not only hard to destroy but hard to attack.

    Let the third round begin!

    Superhero Survivor Series: Round Three

    Brad’s pick: KATO

    brad-3

    Brad:

I went with Kato because I feel he will make a very good tag partner for Arrow. First off, his martial arts skills will be an asset taking out the foot soldiers that protect the teams. His speed and fighting abilities will lead him to use his engineering and intelligence to take these teams from within.

Using his intelligence, he will attack technology to take down the teams and as an automotive expert, he will use vehicles alongside Arrow to take on forces that may look impossible. Continue reading

    Let the second round begin!

    Superhero Survivor Series: Round Two

    Brad’s pick: MASTER CHIEF

    brad-2

    Brad:

While not exactly who you may think of when you think of superhero, I can assure you that Master Chief has what it takes to make my team the winning team. He brings the ranged combat skills of Arrow with a huge arsenal of pistols, assault rifles, plasma pistols, rifles and grenades of both plasma and explosive variety.

Master Chief can jump high, sprint and make use of jet packs, making him very agile. Master Chief is mentally tough and physically tough with regenerating shields. He is a jack of trades and will serve as the leader of the team.

Superhero Survivor Series: Introduction and Round One

We’re bored of wrestling so we came up with a new feature to let us go on about superheroes and comics instead. Welcome to Superhero Survivor Series!

Each of our panel members was tasked with drafting their dream team of superheroes for a classic 5-on-5 Survivor Series match.

Making their picks in the following order will be:

    The rules are as follows:

    • Everyone picks five superheroes with one pick at a time in the assigned draft order: Brad, Joey, Tim, Nightlife, Tom.
    • A superhero is loosely defined as a character that wears a costume or has some kind of superhero name or secret identity and fights crime or injustice to some degree. Anti-heroes or reformed villains are allowed.
    • Just because a character appears in comics, that doesn’t mean they’re a superhero (for example, Judge Dredd isn’t allowed).
    • Everyone likes Marvel best, but there’s a limit of three Marvel characters.
    • Superhero parodies (e.g. The Tick) and superhero characters that originate from media other than comics (e.g. The Greatest American Hero) are allowed.
    • If you’re choosing a version of the character other than the ‘classic’ comics version, please specify (for example, if you want to specifically choose Spider-man 2099 rather than Spider-man).
    • All characters must be picked as individuals rather than teams (so you can’t just pick ‘The X-Men’ or ‘The Avengers’).

So now we’ve got that out the way, let’s see who the first round picks are!

    Superhero Survivor Series: Round One

    Brad’s pick: ARROW

    Brad-1

    Brad:

I was never an absolutely huge Arrow fan, but after I started watching The CW show I definitely became one. I like Arrow because he brings a lot of the advantages Batman has, but feel his combat skills are even better than Batman.

Arrow has a very solid ranged skill set with a variety of arrows to not only subdue but kill his adversary. I also feel that Arrow’s willingness to kill, even if he rarely does it, is an asset. Continue reading
